The bad news: Some people don't know how to write a good charter.

The good news: CN is virtually a free-market for alliances, so the incompetent leaders will get weeded out.

Charters, at their core, are rulebooks. They should describe how the alliance is run. They don't need to be fancy. They don't need to as dry as a desert (few people take this extreme. I'm one of them). However, there is some very basic stuff that should be included in a charter.

1. How the alliance is run. Leaders? How are duties split up? How are positions decided? It does not need to be very specific, or very precise. Both of the following examples would work:
   • E.g. 1: Government: There is one leader who is elected on a monthly basis. All decisions, and all other government positions are decided by the leader. (may be a lousy government, but all of the duties and powers are implied. Simple and open-ended)
     
   • E.g. 2: The founder of the alliance will appoint five ministers, as follows: MoFA, MoD, MoIA, MoR, and MoF. Each minister will serve a life-term until replaced by the founder or having stepped down from the position. The MoFa will do XYZ, the MoD will do XYZ, etc. (Very specific example)

That's it. You don't NEED anything else, and yet, I've found charters that have missed at least one of the following. THIS IS BASIC STUFF. DID YOU LEAVE YOUR BRAIN IN THE DRYER? DID YOU JUST JOIN CN TWO WEEKS AGO AND NOW YOU THINK YOU KNOW ENOUGH TO WRITE A CHARTER AND LEAVE OUT AN AMENDMENT CLAUSE? AN AMENDMENT CLAUSE? HOW THE HELL ARE YOU GOING TO CHANGE SOMETHING MAJOR IN YOUR ALLIANCE? DID YOU THINK THAT YOUR CHARTER WAS SO UBER THAT IT WOULDN'T NEED CHANGING? NO. YOU'RE WRONG. IT NEEDS A BLOODY AMENDMENT CLAUSE. STOP PUTTING SO MUCH EFFORT INTO ROLEPLAYING YOUR ALLIANCE IF YOU DON'T PUT IN A BLOODY AMENDMENT CLAUSE.
