It's Grämlins, people. Or, if you can't find how to type ä, Graemlins or Gremlins. Not Gramlins.

And yes I know I'm not there any more but it still annoys me.

Motley Crue has more umlauts. I haven't checked, but possibly more members as well.

Major difference is that Motley Crue don't throw a fit at you and insist that the closest spelling is actually Matley Croe.

It's not a rare character, it's a normal vowel in at least two western languages ...

Well, we have to look at it from the "electronic" standpoint. 99% of the time we see it referenced, its in written form.

That character is not on my keyboard, and I would guess that the majority of computer users around the world don't have it on their keyboards either.

Then use one of the correct substitutions to 7-bit ASCII.

That's because those umlauts are affectations and don't actually represent the different vowel.
