Chief Savage Man Posted March 23, 2011 Report Share 'clever' title threads usually aren't worth the effort Quote Link to comment
Johnny Apocalypse Posted March 23, 2011 Report Share Yeah but at least know where "Peace in our time" comes from and the events that followed it. Quote Link to comment
Haflinger Posted March 23, 2011 Report Share Oh come on, this is an obvious historical reference. Ever hear of Chamberlain? Quote Link to comment
Lord Velox Posted March 23, 2011 Report Share Oh come on, this is an obvious historical reference. Ever hear of Chamberlain? That would be "Peace for our time" Quote Link to comment
nippy Posted March 23, 2011 Report Share Regardless of any historical significance, it's !@#$@#$ redundant and I agree. Stop using it, people. Quote Link to comment
nippy Posted March 23, 2011 Report Share You gotta love people that go into blogs and post 'Who cares?' in reply. Hey Ryan Greenberg....Fyfe XIV created a blog about this subject, so he cares. I posted my opinion in agreement with him. That's two, buddy....do try to pay more attention. Quote Link to comment
ty345 Posted March 23, 2011 Report Share I doubt Chamberlain really had the internet blogs in mind when he said it Quote Link to comment
Hadrian Posted March 23, 2011 Report Share Shut up and deal with it. Peace is peace after all, not many ways of putting it. Good god man, what a waste of blog space. Quote Link to comment
nippy Posted March 23, 2011 Report Share Shut up and deal with it. Peace is peace after all, not many ways of putting it. "not many ways of putting it"? Seriously, I know you're not that stupid. "Peace in our time" is just another CN meme that has been overused to the point of being the subject of a blog entry. I know you can come up with another way to say a war is coming to an end....maybe "Cessation of Hostilities", or perhaps "Truce". It doesn't take a literary genius to come up with another way of stating that peace has been achieved. Quote Link to comment

Agreed, "cessation of hostilities" is a lot more formal and professional-sounding that "peace in our time" and "truce" hasn't been used in a while, if ever. But guys.. It's peace. Peace. Biff Webster Posted March 23, 2011 Report Share I eagerly await blogs attacking "I knew about this <x amount of time> ago", "Brilliant political move" and "omg guys I am agreeing with this duder I don't normally agree with". Quote Link to comment

"It's peace" would work as well. Even just "peace" would be better than using that same old, tired meme. I'd like to know how many threads exist in these forums with that exact title. The search feature hasn't worked for me in ages, though, so mystery unsolved. I eagerly await blogs attacking "I knew about this <x amount of time> ago", "Brilliant political move" and "omg guys I am agreeing with this duder I don't normally agree with". That first one has already gotten on my nerves. You rarely hear 'brilliant political move' anymore...I think everyone got sick of it. The third isn't a meme, but a normal thing to point out when you're willing to ignore your tendency to side against a particular personality and state your opinion that something someone said sucks so horribly that you're having to side with said personality. I suppose, but the hyperbole about how it's an apocalyptic event gets pretty dramatic each time it's used. Quote Link to comment
Fyfe XIV Posted March 23, 2011 Report Share Who cares? Well considering I made a blog about it... You don't like my blog? Shut up and deal with it. Good god man, what a waste of blog space. Good god man, what a waste of space. Oh come on, this is an obvious historical reference. Ever hear of Chamberlain? I have heard of Chamberlain but he did not say this. Peace In Our Time is, among other things, an album by the Scottish band Big Country. NICE HISTORICAL REFERENCE BRO. Also, why has it become the norm for someone to (incorrectly) use historical references every other peace thread? Better question, why are you all so proud of peace? Peace !@#$@#$ sucks. Ashoka the Great Posted March 24, 2011 Report Share A while back -- two or three years, at least -- Doitzel noted that agreements of various kinds were often saddled with idiotic names. His suggestion was that every agreement between all alliances simply be called The Treaty of Paris henceforward. It was a good idea then. It's a good idea now. Quote Link to comment
New Frontier Posted March 24, 2011 Report Share Finally, something Zog underlines that is actually clickable Quote Link to comment

Groucho Marx Posted March 24, 2011 Report Share I'd prefer the next peace announcement to be along the lines of HEY THE WAR'S OVER GOOD LUCK GETTING YOUR PEACETIME JOBS BACK FROM THE MIGRANT LABORERS LOL Quote Link to comment
