GOONS membership's real opinions regarding the war

I am a newbie and I have no idea what I am doing and I've made on NSO and one Olympus surrender.

This past week, Sirwilliam produced a check-in google doc which contained a space for members to voice their opinions regarding the war. The response was overwhelming. The majority of the alliance has already weighed in, and here are some of the choice quotes, which will be anonymous. If any GOONS reading this want to claim their quote, go for it.

A lot of it boiled down to this:

"It was a lot more fun before 2 nuclear capable nations declared on me. :) I went from 9.5K nation strength to 1.2K strength (and declining). But I've been getting aid and rebuilding will probably happen quickly, so it's all good."

even more of it boiled down to this:

"It was cool, but all my targets were good. And I got piled. But pixels are lulzy, so I don't care that much."

But sadly, there was a lot of dismay within the goons ranks:

"Its ok but not the opponents aren't doing much, so it ends up being somewhat uneventful once you declare and anarchy your offensive war opponents. Everything on our end is going very smoothly and I feel that we have a lot of support and coordination on this side."

It failed to live up to some expectations:

"I think we need some better opponents, these guys are dull and uninvolved with banter and ****, **** them"

"Two of my targets are going to delete. This war is boring and I need cash to pay my bills.

Also, nuke sard."

"Not enough competent enemies..."

"Need more targets"

"I cant declare on more then 3 targets? this is bull****"

"Having a blast, only damper is NPOs incredibly boring strategy of buying abloslutely nothing, and spying away money. I think they're betting on us having less money than them."

"NPO/NSO are worst war playmates ever."

"This war is quite literally the best thing about CN. Also, NPO are useless."

But overall, a good time was had by all:

""quite a bit" does not cover it.

Aid and nukes fall from the sky and I am loving this ****! Send down more NPO."

"Enjoying the war. Opponents at my level (high Aspie, low BYOB) are pretty disappointing. Haven't been in anarchy yet, accepted one round of aid ($15M, thanks) and have been feeding off targets otherwise.

Tried trolling NPO/Legion to get more defensive wars but that didn't work. I've given up on them. Enemies aren't surrendering/accepting terms so I'm willing to keep putting them in anarchy and eroding their nations.

Just DoW'd and attacked a nuke-capable target, so hopefully things will get more interesting."

"37 of my nukes have sailed directly into the enemy's collective anus, so I am a happy camper."

The overall opinion of the war has been overwhelming positive, proving once again the strength of the GOONS warrior spirit.

So to those who expected us to break and surrender: really? You really expected GOONS to surrender in the face of so much entertaining war? If your aim was to force us to surrender, you have made a grave miscalculation, because it is not war that kills us, it is lack of war. War feeds us, grows our community. If you'll glance over at our applicant AA, you'll see how your mistake was far graver than you could possibly imagine. When we have rebuilt, we will be far, far stronger than we we were at the onset of the war.

I wonder which figure will be bigger: the amount of aid that would be required to bring GOONS back up to its pre-war NS, or the amount of extra tax collections MK and Umbrella will make due not not having to really war anything or go to PM.

It's more about the aid slots than the actual monetary amount nations are sitting on. 3 million is pretty much spare change for me, but I can only send out 18 million every 10 days. During that 10 days, I wouldn't be able do any tech deals.

Assuming I'm sitting on a billion, it would take me 56 full aid cycles (560 days) to run out of money, if that was all I was doing. And that's not counting additional tax collections of course. So a theoretical 100k nation, and nations much smaller than that as well, that is not at war and is only sending out aid will never run out of money. It what those other aid slots could be doing that count.

There's my monthly allotment of econ.

To be fair, the only NSO surrenders have been people who joined us within the last week or two. No NSO member who has been a member for the at least a month has surrendered. We're only losing ghosts and new recruits.

Spin it however you wish, my point stands.

Yeah like we said, thanks for getting rid of our crappy members. We kind of mean it.

Yes, like you've all said a half dozen or so times by now. We get it, members are running for the hills and you hate them for it.

I wouldn't exactly call it running for the hills. Most GOONS play this game for war, and most NSO members have been hit so many times on the end that we don't care about getting rolled anymore. The only members being lost by either alliance are a few newbies who had no idea what they signed up for. The members are make up the community, and the ones that make the alliances what they are, won't be leaving anytime soon.

Ehhh it'll likely be a mix of aid and longterm tech deals. I was just making a joke anyways so... thanks for pointing out stuff I already know!

I was referring to your alliance's - as well as to others in the Hopeless Coalition's - surrendering nations that are, quite literally, running for the hills.

In nearly a month of war, there have been only a handful of surrenders (on both sides). Running for the hills implies than dozens and dozens are doing so. That just isn't happening.

I don't think there is any numeric amount of fleeing implied by that phrase, only that the people doing so are running as far and as fast as they can.

Considering you've lost over half of your NS it is a sign of resiliency to be keeping up the positive talk. It is a shame that you have to sacrifice so much.

oh no we lost pixels. how will we ever recover.

Indeed.

Interpret it however you wish, RV, it's clear enough to others.

And no, a handful 14 surrenders does not make. ;)

Sometimes

Something beautiful happens

in this world

Oh

WANA

And Cult of Justitia

You don't know how to express yourself so

You just gotta sing

(Akon)

I just had war

And it felt so good (felt so good)

A GOONS nation let me put my **** inside them

I just had war

And I'll never go back (never go back)

To the not-having-war

Ways of the past

Have you ever had war?

I have, it felt great

It felt so good when I did it with my soldiers

A GOONS nation let me do it

It literally just happened

Having war could make a nice man out' the meanest

You'll never guess where I just came from

I had war

If I had to describe the feeling it was the best

When I had the war

It made my soldiers feel great

And I called my parents right after I was done

Oh hey, didn't see you there

Guess what I just did

Had war, nuked, saw their warchests and the rest

Well sure

Nice of them to let you do that thing

Nice of any GOONie ever

Now sing

I just had war

And it felt so good (felt so good)

A GOONS nation let me put my penis inside them

I Wanna tell the world

To be honest

I'm surprised they even wanted me to do it

Doesn't really make sense

But man, screw it

I ain't one to argue with a good thing

They could be my allies

That good?

The best 7 days of my life

My life!

I'm so humbled by a GOONS ability to let me do them

Cuz honestly I'd have sex with a pile of legion nations

With that in mind the soft, nice-smellin' GOONS better

They let me wear my chain and my turtle neck sweater

So this one's dedicated to them GOONS

That let us flop around on top of them

If you're near or far, whether short or tall

We wanna thank you all for lettin' us roll you

They kept looking at her watch

Doesn't matter, I had war

But I cried the whole time

Doesn't matter, I had war

I think they might have been a racist

Doesn't matter, I had war

they put a bag on my head!

Still counts

I just had war

And my dreams came true (dreams came true)

So if you had war in the last 7 days then you're qualified to sing with me

I just had war (everybody sing!)

And it felt so good (we all had war!)

A GOONS let me put my nukes inside them (I wanna tell the whole world!)

I just had war (I just had war!)

And I'll never go back (no, no, no!)

To the not-having-war.

Ways of the past

(And it felt so great)

(If you get the above song paradoy then +1)

Fourteen surrenders, over the course of several weeks, and distributed among over ten alliances, is not as much as you're trying to imply. There just are not a lot of surrenders in this war.

Comparatively, and given the circumstances, it's more meaningful than you are trying to imply.

I'm trying for straight talk here. I know you think I'm trying to spin, but I'm not. I simply don't see the fleeing for the hills. NSO experienced a few established members leave in 6 Mil, mainly do to our government's stupidity in getting us in that war, but here no established members are leaving. That's true for all alliances in this war right now.

Whether they're big names or not is irrelevant (big names generally aren't the ones surrendering anyhow).

What is is that GOONS has forced far more surrenders than any other alliance despite the overwhelming number of nations that have been thrown at us and despite the misleading anecdotes proffered by some on your side.

(Quite literally those surrendering from your alliances are those I was referring to as running for the hills - a look at the last couple pages of the Resignations thread is all that's needed to see it. My comment was not indicative of a number that you seem to be insinuating I meant.)

So is that why your neutral and throw a !@#$fit when people who are kinda allied to you think about getting involved?

First of all, I don't know who you are. Secondly, you don't know me, or nothing of my work. I assure you though my allies know my feelings toward both sides of the war. Thanks for the concern though.

You'll rebuild. Maybe I'll buy some tech from you guys? We can arrange it so that on consecutive good deliveries I'll throw in a 50/3 mil deal. Anyway, you guys would make Rocky proud, hang in there.

Sorry we had allies on both sides of the war and didn't feel like going in for an MDP of an MDP of an MDP for an oA. We'll get better about that so you can stop crying, it's really stinking up this blog.
