Things We've Learned From This War

I must admit, I much prefer posting 'topics' in my blog as opposed to somewhere on the OWF. It's not a matter of vanity, but rather that OWF topics (in wartime, especially) tend to devolve into a "U/NoU" exchange that gets a bit boring and repetitive. Also, blog posts have a shorter shelf life than OWF posts, owing to their being bumped off the main screen every couple of days. I'm not especially vain, so seeing these 'topics' die off after a couple of days suits me just fine.

Anyway....

Things I have learned from this war:

1. I have learned the names of far more alliances than I knew pre-war, although if asked I probably couldn't tell you which side they're on.

2. With four NOIR signatories in this war, and two on each side, I have my doubts as to that bloc's long-term future in a post-war world. (This is a good time to point out that my views do not necessarily reflect those of Nordreich's current government.) I have similar feelings with respect to SF, or at least RoK's continued participation in it. I could be completely wrong on the latter, but I can't imagine that intra-SF discussions have been terribly friendly give RoK's participation on one side and everyone else's participation on the other. (Ignoring RIA's participation on both sides for a moment....) At war's end I will either learn that allies can disagree strongly and remain allies or that disagreement in wartime is poisonous. Jury's still out.

4. No matter how much evidence is presented to support any point of view, there will always be those who argue against it or accuse the presenter of falsifying things. (That goes for both sides, btw.) I knew this already, but it gets tiresome seeing it played out over and over and over again.

5. With respect to #4, my mental 'shortlist' of people I trust implicitly hasn't changed a whole lot in this conflict. And again, there are people on both sides whom I feel that way about. So what I've learned is that I'm not a horrible judge of character.

And now to you, gentle reader.

What, if anything, have you learned from the last few days of mayhem?

I've learned reading a paragraph of some no-named guy requires way too much work.

Also, about NOIR, any treaty that has a defensive clause will not stand on black. To rephrase, that stretches across black. Black is just way too diverse for any team defensive treaty.

I have learned that kingzog did not learn from Sesame Street that 3 comes after 2. :P

Also Electron Sponge was right.

I think the only thing that is more annoying than people like Ephraim Grey is that after all this time and several similar incidents happening in the past people still will base their alliance's actions solely on the words of one individual without so much as a cursory investigation.

Hilariously he was talking about the VE. Some things never change.
