Scrapping History

Juana La Loca

When not running Juana's Tech Warehouse and Curio Emporium I have (when employed) the soon to be anachronistic occupation of arranging the movement of raw and manufactured materials from the US to ports and points worldwide. Shout outs to NEW and FOK: JCP and RTM are among my favorite ports to do business with.

But to my point and question..... what are we exporting these days with only 9% of the US workforce engaged in making anything?

We are exporting Scrap metal. scrap plastic, and scrap paper.

Value of Ferrous metal scrap exported to PRC 2010 through, November $1,667,436,000

Value of non-Ferrous base metal scrap exported to PRC 2010 through Nov. $4,084,946,000

Price on mixed metal scrap is @ $500/ton CFR (cost and freight)

@ 11.5 million tons of US metal scrap.

Any students of history around here? ;)
