Throwing in the Towel

By now we all know the general details of what happened in Tuscon, Arizona: some nut (unaffiliated with an political party) decides to go on a shooting rampage that results in the deaths of six people including a 9 year-old girl. A judge was killed. A Congresswoman was critically wounded. It's a national tragedy. This is a time when all Americans should be one. However what I have seen in the thread here discussing what happens is a group of people at each others' throats. The more I looked at it, the more disgusted I was. So, from here on out, I have no intention of reading anymore of that thread. It's toxic and it's indicative of what is so wrong with the political discourse in this nation. Mainly, I'm checking out of it because if I kept reading, I think I would completely lose faith in mankind. I'm a big believer in hope (not to sound to Obama-esque ;)) but the tone of that discussion would likely throw me into despair, so I guess it is a self-preservation thing.

I will say this. I hope that through this tragedy that happened, I hope we all reevaluate how we speak to one another on contentious issues. What is going on now just is not working.

It's very sad that things like this happen, indeed. Violence is stupid and will never solve anything. What I do find humorous (if you can find anything funny about this), is that his supposed favorite books are Mein Kampf and the Communist Manifesto. I thought it was funny. :P

Why is that funny? Fringe manifestos written by alienated corporals or bewildered British scholars are both still kooky, think of the UnaBoomer Manifesto.... stone cold insanity from someone with evident brains. Kooky isn't Left-Right, it is its own world.

While I yield to your expertise on Marxist theory, it should noted that Marx and Engels were German.

Not aware of which thread you're talking about, but as a person that doesn't get riled up by (realworld) politics, I find it pretty ironic that [meh whatever]

There's a thread in the Boiler Room discussing this. It has turned into an utter quagmire and, in my opinion, no longer serves a purpose other than people spewing filth from all sides.

The basic purpose of this post, which I actually didn't write in it, is that I no longer have any intention of going into that thread. It's like stepping into quicksand.

You make terrible, useless blog posts that are of no interest to the general community.

I'm interested in this blog post. I am part of the general community.

Way to be unnecessarily rude though, brah. :v:

Thanks for the backup. Also, I noticed in the "Latest Visitors" that Penkala showed up again this morning despite leaving that comment yesterday, so I guess someone he is interested as well.
