Neutral Alliances

New Frontier

It seems that there has been a lot more anger towards neutral alliances like GPA, TDO, WTF, Sparta and MHA lately. Why do you think that is?

In no particular order:

1. Because the Mostly Harmless Alliance is seen at least somewhat as "neutral" (even through they have MDP's) and they are #1 in the ranking and people are jealous.

2. Because people who like war are bored, don't want to start a war with an alliance that has treaties that would start the treaty web domino affect (because they are not yet *that* bored :P ) and the idea (note: not necessarily the reality) of attacking a "neutral" alliance seems appealing as an in-between pastime.

3. Because some of the larger neutral alliances are organizing somewhat, and this comes across as a threat because it's hard for people who are not neutral to accept that someone else (especially a large group of someone else's) would actually WANT to be left alone as opposed to war. They do - of course, but it's harder to accept that others don't think like you. So the idea is convince them to choose a side now (again - assuming that they really will but just are not now, an incorrect assumption) is best. A good way to do that is make subtle suggestions of what could happen if they don't - which just causes the neutral alliances to get nervous and organize more - thus creating a circle.

4. Or this reasoning: If people leave neutral alliances because they are unpopular, (or the chatter on OWF actually convinces someone to leave a neutral alliance) then they will join "our" side instead and make us more powerful.

It's easier to take shots at the guy you know isn't going to hit you back than to walk up to the big kids and swing for the fences. The funniest part about most of the alliances who are claiming to be bored is that they created this mess. When you look for anything to form a CB and then jump on it, don't be shocked when people start getting tight lipped around you. There's many alliances who used to be hugely active and now stay away from the OWF due to the hostile nature there.

One of these days, someone will be brave enough to walk up to that big guy and "do something about it". Till then, people will just sit around, be bored and pick on the other guy sitting alone, minding his own buisness.

<Cheyenne> banksy you are right

<Cheyenne> i looked it up on the wiki and it turns out mha and sparta aren't neutral after all

I demand an updated OP. Such factual inaccuracies need to be corrected, otherwise the myth that Sparta and MHA are neutrals will continue.
