The Return of Pan-Blue

AngolaThree

BLEU's spectacular collapse in 2008 was one of the most epic bloc collapses in recent memory- not on the scale of WUT or the Continuum, but significant in and of itself. Since then, the Blue sphere has pieced itself together in two separate blocs, AZTEC and Peace and Love Train. Each has three Blue alliance banded together in the spirit of brotherhood.

But can Blue do better? Should there be an ODP treaty like Black has that binds the whole sphere together in the name of color unity like yesteryear? Or was that idea proven idiotic by the failure of BLEU two years ago?

Personally, I think that as a concept color unity tends to be a bit overrated. Having an economic treaty on a color is certainly warranted but from my own experience with the Chestnut Accords and USN in particular, an alliance being ont he same color as you is poor grounds for a defense-level treaty.

Personally I do not see the BLEU days ever coming back, they worked in the time period they existed. With the current inter-team connections of so many alliances teams are not unified because another alliance could be a nemesis of one of its existing allies. The same difference exists on blue, while there certainly are connections within the team it is doubtful they will turn into a de jure bloc.

I think the better question is 'Will they bother?' without significant more importance being put on color, I doubt it.

At this point, barring changes to the team mechanics. No we won't...all of our fiefdoms on blue work with each other contently; and there isn't any reason for us to put any more effort to a united blue then we already do...which is.

None at all really.

Like Xiphosis and Owned-You mentioned, there isn't enough benefit towards color coordination and thus incentive towards creating a vision based on a color team. In my opinion, the extent of color considerations should consists of simply making sure all your members have good trades with a team bonus. That's about it.

Actually, there are 4 blue alliances in PnL. :awesome:

Honestly, I would love to see another successful BLEU bloc. A good majority of TFD's treaties are on the blue team, and there aren't any Blue alliances that we don't like.

That said, I don't think many are willing to put in the effort (or screw up their treaty webs) just to be friendly with their fellow teammates. Diplomats? Sure. Blunity bloc? Sure. Low level treaties? Sure. Color wide MDoAP/MDAP? No way. And I don't blame them either.
