I have never made a blog before so I don’t really know what to say, I am not a bright guy so I’ll just share what is on my mind right now. To give a little information about myself; I’m 20 years old and attending college for communications. I don’t really know what I want to do with it, but I know I like to talk and people say I am good at it; I don’t take much stock in it. Anyway my name is Muddog, it comes from my dad really. He and his friends used to have CB’s when I was younger and his nickname was Muddog. Mine at the time was Mudpup, but that didn’t sound right when I was choosing my ruler name. My nation is Rural Route 3; this comes for a few reasons. The first being my family used to live in Rural Route 3. The 2nd being I was listening to Alan Jackson’s Chattahoochee and well it reminds me of our old place and the creek that ran through it. Well I’ll get to what’s on my mind now.
It is strange how often people forget that there is a person sitting on the other side of the computer and what we say to each other really does affect that person. It’s easy to talk bad about someone or a group, but it affects those people. I guess you could say they need to grow thicker skin, but the more I learn about this game, the more I learn about the community, the more I come to realize this game means the world to some people. I guess what I am trying to say is that before we run our mouths off the handle or insult one another we need to keep in mind what we are saying and remember that this is just a game. Part of the fun of a game is the people you’re playing with and against.
I hear it a lot from older members of the community when we talk on IRC, this world has become so much more than a simple game. I have heard about real, true, and treasured friendships being made on this game. It’s amazing to me how a simple game that might take 10 minutes tops has evolved into a community that goes far beyond the game it’s self. Even these forums are only a small part of what makes up this game. There are over 100 alliances of all shape, size, theme, color, language, and creed. Its amazing people invest real money into a game. It would be like paying 20 or more bucks to play monopoly, and I am not talking about donations that keep the game going, I am talking about the extensive funds needed to keep forum’s like RK’s, GATO’s, and I am sure many others are paid forums as well.
Well at 12:54am, that’s all that’s on my mind right now. This is my first blog entry so please keep criticism in the constructive zone only. If you have any ideas on how I could improve this, please share them. I guess that’s all for now, this is the muddy dog signing out.
