Many say this world cup will be intresting and i agree with anyone who says that.

I think we will see big surprises and some may call them miracles , in results of the world cup but the winner wont be a surprise i think we will see many unexpected teams in the last 16 and i think this will be the most entertaining world cup .

What do you guys Think?

I am in enthusiastic agreement with MCRABT on England; however, while I will be cheering the USA on in their first game, I will be hoping they don't go too far in the tournament for similar reasons.

Overall it seems a difficult one to call, since everyone I talk to is pessimistic about their team (except England, of course, as usual), and there are no really outstanding teams to watch for. My Dutch, Argentinian and German colleagues have all but given up already. For those reasons alone there could be a few shocks in store.

North Korea for the cup!

I think it will be a close one.

I think Algeria will be a surprise in englands Group .

I agree england won't be a good team to watch (they never were) , Imagine if they won it

It would take another 40 years for them to shut up about it lol.

Im going into hiding if England win. Hopefully USA can do something.

Im going for maybe Spain or Holland to win.

I fail to see why you're all worried about England winning the Cup, we all know it's going to end on penalties in the quarter-finals, it always does :P But I agree there is too much hype about us, there always is, though imo it's not as bad as 06, mostly thanks to Capello's dealing with the media.

Seriously though I think we'll do alright till we meet one of the big teams (Germany is a possiblity in the second round). We've sturggled against those in friendly matches (lost to both France and Spain since euro 08). I'm going to try and avoid watching England, cause I actually enjoyed Euro 2008 for the football and wasn't being a nervous wreck all the time :P

As for shocks, well the hosts are prime candidates, they didn't do badly last year in the Confedation Cup, plus they've had a decent run in to the tournament and home advantage is all important, the other possible candidates are the North Koreans in group G with Brazil, Ivory Coast and Portugal (Portugal - North Korea will be interesting, for the history, plus given Portugals recent patchy form, if North Korea are going to beat anyone in the group stage it's Portugal)

As for winners, well Brazil and Spain are the favourites, but I don't think Spain will do it. France and Italy never seem to be top runners these days, but either weren't in 2006. Also the Germans always have a canny knack of winning games :P Argentina are "good" team I'm backing to pull a shocker, they very nearly didn't get automatic qualification for the World Cup.

New Zealand for not losing too badly. :awesome:

Spain are favourites, and are therefore unable to win. I actually quite like the England team (for once) but the fact the English press will never shut up about them being world cup winners turns me away. I don't know if Germany has what it takes to win. I'm really hoping the Ivory Coast will win.

I'd love to see a team tha everyone thinks doesn't have a shot win it. It would bring me great joy to see an African team, like Ivory Coast win it, just because it would make the whole world gasp.

While I'm secretly rooting for my homeland (USA) and there will always bee a special place in my heart for the Azzurri (Italy). I don't see either of them taking it, lets face it the United States isn't great at football, and Italy isn't looking that great right now.

Despite being the favorites of many I don't think Spain or Brazil will wind up taking the cup this time.

Although, they're less favored than Spain and Brazil, England and Argentina both have good pretty good squads, and I think they're both capable of taking it.

If I only get to pick one...I guess...Argentina...

Not after tonight's performance against Ireland...

Anyway, obviously England are going to win, as long as we get all the luck, there is no penalties and the oppositions go crazy...

Semi finals- England v Germany. Germany wins on shoot outs. My ideal cup.

Spain, Brazil, Germany or England to win it. I imagine that'll be the semi-final line up. I can give reasons for the other teams not winning if you like. xD

I'm supporting England myself.

England v.s Portugal quarter final .

Penalty shoot outs Portugal win :P AGAIN!

Portugal are on the other side of the groups. We can only meet them in the final. Which they cannot get to. ;)

I expect germany to do rather well.

Bayern Munchen played with 5 germans in starting line-up of champions league final and were the better team all round. The injury of Michaël Ballack is a big setback for them tho.

Nord Korea will be ugly duck of the tournament, all 3 opponents outclass them by far. But they don't deserve to be in the world cup anyway. the should make qualifications global, there are european and south american countries that are way better than some who are in the world cup but they always have to qualify against way stronger teams. If this means that 85% of the countries qualifying would be european and south american, than so be it, at least we'll see the best 32countries

No if they win they're group and England wins there groups and get past quarters, they would meet in the semi's.

Brazil: good team as usual, but i guess historically it's the weakest Brazil team. Good goalkeeper, good strikers but weaker defenders and defensive midfielders.

Argentina: !@#$@#$ good strikers, but nothing else... Zanetti and Cambiasso at home...

England: strong and massive team but they could use a good goalkeeper, maybe Joe Hart will show us something.

Germany: not bad team, but they don't have good strikers and they have some injuries( Ballack, Rolfes).

Spain: strongest team, no real weak point, brilliant midfield and strikers, massive defenders, world class goalkeeper, but historically they are loosers on WC, we will see how far they go now.

France: they miss so many good players, their play depends on the Gourcoff+Ribery+Henry trio too much. If they go further then top 8 i will be surprised.

England's tactic of making our opponents win our games for us is surely going to win us the cup.

I sit here in nervous anticipation that England pull of something legendary and at least make it to the semi's.

I think Ivory Coast and the Dutch are the ones to watch our for. Will be a gripping world cup. And I can't wait.
