Voting continues at this hour in the first round of elections for the 19th High Council of the Multicolored Cross-X Alliance. Up for election is one Chancellor position (currently held by Oli), each of the four Minister positions (Defense, Foreign Affairs, the Interior, and Finance), and two Members-At-Large, who serve without any portfolio. With the exception of the incoming Chancellor, the seven individuals elected will join Chancellors NeuralLink and mcp13 on the High Council for the next two months.

Voting started at Update this morning, and continues for a total of 48 hours. With the exception of the Members-At-Large, each candidate must win by an absolute majority of votes to avoid a runoff vote. Any runoff will commence after the conclusion of this first round of voting, and likewise continue for 48 hours.

The Chancellor race is currently being led by the incumbent Oli, who holds 72% of the vote at this time. He is well ahead of his nearest challengers, Jim and Jrkee, who each hold 11% of the vote, while current Minister of Foreign Affairs Supercoolyellow holds 6% as a write-in candidate.

A particularly tight race is forming for the Minister of Defense position, where Jrkee is ahead of current Deputy Minister of Defense Obadiah Hendrix by only 12% - currently leading 56 to 44. The victor will replace outgoing Minister of Defense Randal, who stepped down this term citing RL commitments.

Supercoolyellow appears to be heading for re-election as Minister of Foreign Affairs, holding 67% of the vote against challenger Olliee, who holds 33%. A much more clear-cut result can already be seen in the Minister of Finance race, where the incumbent Munki currently leads with 89% of the vote. Also appearing to be re-elected is Jim in the Minister of the Interior position, who currently holds 78% of the vote.

One of the two Member-At-Large positions appears to be determined, with AndrewHG holding onto his current seat with 88% of the vote. Challenging for the second Member-At-Large position - previously held by zzniperr2, who chose not to run for re-election - are 4nak8tr with 35% of the vote and Jrkee with 29% of the vote. Close in behind are Olliee and Bobo the Monkey - both with 18% of the vote, and jjplay175 - who holds 12% of the vote. Each member of the alliance may cast two votes in the Member-At-Large elections, and the results for this position therefore add up to 200%. This election also contains two spoiled ballots - neither of which are calculated in the final percentages.

Updates will be posted daily until the conclusion of elections, or more often as the situation may require.

I'm especially excited that turnout already seems to be up quite a bit. Interesting, because the last elections we're during war.

In other elections news, 92% of MeXiCAns thinks that, sorry I'm going to go have sex now, is a good way to end an IRC conversation, and 57 percent of our members think that Gopher should join MCXA's Facebook group.
