With recent events in the politics of Planet Earth (Bob's distant cousin), I am inclined to ask this poll question and hope that as many people vote as possible to gauge the opinion of Planet Bob.

trust me those people in DC arent commies.

and Lukcia everyone in Canada and Britain are saying its a good thing but its not. you guys are use to it and know no better.

You are right, I for one, denounce Canada and Britain. They shouldn't have something so horrid as health care that's more spread out to the population than a usual privatized system.

Couldn't have said it any better.

...By the way, for those of you who have voted either way. Has anyone actually read the bill/law?!?!! I BET NOT! I don't even think its online. If you no the link, post it.

...If not, DON'T SUPPORT A BILL/ LAW YOU HAVE NOT READ! Politics and health is not like supporting a sports team blindly.

So I take it, you've read it. Because you have expressed an opinion. If it's true that you can not support a bill you haven't read, you should not be critical of a bill/law you have NOT read either.

Excuse me...read what I said before. I am not on either side because I have not read it. Have you? I bet "98% of people" who have opinions on this issue haven't either.

RePePe Thanks for the link!

You quoted the post below (or it looks that way when I read it) which suggested to me that you were arguing that the health care bill is a problem.

Anyway, now I looked over the bill and compared it to various news reports about what the bill says. News report are good enough to make an informed opinion. All I got additionally from reading the bill itself was a nap.

No, no, no,no, no! I'm hall for a public healthcare system like we have with schools. Payed with taxes and otherwise free. But it's a state-by-state issue (education too, but it's a bit late for that 1), not a Fed issue.

The biggest problems with these big federal programs (I include health care, Social Security, welfare, etc.) is that they inevitably turn into a horrible mess. Welfare and unemployment are regularly, deliberately abused. SS is spending more than it's taking in, and likely doomed to eventual failure (those who're currently paying into it aren't likely to see a dime from it, unless something drastically changes). Why should I expect this to turn out differently?

I find the arguments comparing it to schools rather interesting (since private schools are almost always better than public ones). I assume we'll see hospital levies on our local ballots? Around here, they're lucky if a school levy ever gets passed, so I imagine we'll be closing most of our hospitals soon enough. ;)

So when do I get my unlimited and instant healthcare? I can't wait until I can go to the doctor's office at least once a month, maybe even bi-weekly. Me and my doctor are going to be best-friends.

The biggest problem with the new bill is that it does not cost less. It will cost more in jobs and services. People will be disqualified from getting treatment due to age or previous known illness. The Government will now decide who gets treatment and who does not. It will take away our personal choice of what we wish to have. If and when this bill comes in to effect it will kill the private insurance agencies and will cost 1000s of people their jobs. Not only will it cost people there jobs but because the gov will provides sub par health care options companies will be dropping insurance for there employees and everyone will be worse off. People in the United States are entitled to one thing and one thing only. It is the pursuit of happiness. Happiness is not a right it is something that needs to be worked for no one here is entitled to be taken care of on some one else s hard work. I have no problem with fed money helping the under insured or uninsured but this plan will only destroy a good model of health care. Why do you think people from Canada and all over the world come to America for treatment it is because its available here with no wait. My self and my for fathers did not fight for a socialist country we fought to defend liberty and the American way. This bill spits in the face of the constitution by forcing people to purchase something they may not want. It is a dangerous step in a direction our founding fathers escaped over 200 years ago.

Why should the government get to decide what and who gets treated, and when?

I mean, really. Do we want the same people who run the post offices, the DMVs, and the airports running our doctor's offices as well?

I hate this trend in America. They aren't following our Constitution, they aren't listening to the people, and none of them care.

It will give a lot more people access to Health Care and will cost you less in the long run, so sure.

no it doesn't it is an unconstitutional bill, it is forcing americans to get health care, everyone has a right to choose if they want to get it or not, it's not the governments responsibility to provide healthcare. This bill does not cover the unborn, the terminally ill, or the elderly. and mostly importantly, it does not give free healthcare, the person will still be paying for it.now i believe that the health industry needs a remaking but not this way, it invades the "free market" base line that the USA is off of. the government is there to set rules not to sell stuff to the citizens.

I'm for universal health care, but only if it's a state wide program, not a federal one.

This bill doesn't matter, medical insurance was a scam before and it is a scam now. This just funnels more money into the insurance conglomerates of the government's choice.

If it were a republican initiative, it would have cut taxes of certain insurance companies, thus depriving the people for the benefit of the company, since it's a democrat initiative, it takes people's money and gives it to the companies. Same screwing, just different flavors.

I doubt health care will improve or become more widely available because of this.
