You get used to it. I've lived in Georgia my whole life and I barely notice them anymore.

The ones in Korea are bad as well. And, unlike the North American variety, Korean mosquitoes seem to take two or three hits to finally die.

I hiked the Appalachian Trail in 2003 and there were parts where we literally had to run to get away from them. One spot in New Hampshire, in early September, we thought the cold weather had killed all the mosquitos and we found out they had just regrouped in New Hampshire of all places. We had no choice but to stop hiking around noon and just set up our tents as fast as possible zip up the screen and kill the 200 that managed to get in. Then we just stared at each other through the mesh in disbelief like we were in a science fiction movie. The bugs were by far the toughest part of thruhiking the AT.

Mosquitoes are bad in Florida, but I was seriously worried about survival one fine spring day when I walked into the middle of a black fly hatch while looking for a midden at the mouth of the Suwannee. I ran a bug gauntlet for 3 quarters of a mile.
