Peace Mode Warriors: IRON

Penkala

182/443 IRON nations are cowering in peace mode (no BAWWW IT'S A TACTIC; they've been HIDING THERE, not cycling in and out. There's a difference between utilizing peace mode to re-arm and come out fighting and using peace mode to cower after you attack an uninvolved bloc.)

3,322,512 of IRON's 5,000,000 NS is cowering in peace mode, leaving 1.68 million NS in war mode.

Let's raise some hell and take some names.

el oh el.

I highly doubt that, Synth. As has been your penchant lately, you're really stretching in your attempt to win arguments.

The only ones whose opinions on IRON's tactical behavior is important are those alongside whom IRON is fighting in this war. So far as I know, none have any issue with it, and all feel that IRON is fighting admirably.

The opinions of all others on this matter are effectively irrelevant. Frankly, those who started this should be ashamed of themselves for engaging in such immature taunting, while those who are supporting them should be ashamed for implicitly condoning it.

There is also 50 MK nations in peace mode...around 1/3 of their alliance. What a bunch of cowards they are :awesome:

every thread is a mk thread :awesome:

Another one of these "LOL PEACE MODE!" rants, eh? It's a legitimate war tactic. Get over it.

Not as it's being used by IRON it's not. Don't lecture me about 'war tactics'. I'm not stupid. Using peace mode to regroup is fine. Using it to allow for a counter-attack / second wave is fine. Using it to hide isn't. I purposefully held off on publishing this piece until I saw for sure that IRON wasn't just using it to retool but was indeed using it to hide. They're using it to hide.

You guys should have staggered better then..

This is kinda true as well, but when you're on the defensive end and not really expecting it anarchies are rampant and reduce your ability to stagger.

wow, Penkala. i seriously am loving the hypocrisy of all this. when ya'll do it, it is a tactic, when others do it it is cowardice. get over yourselves. with the fact that IRON is actually fighting a war of survival here, keeping most of their NS in PM is a great tactical move. it ensures that whatever reps they finally agree to can be paid while they retain some of their NS, instead of losing it all. since it is obvious that once their nations leave peacemode, they would be locked in combat for a long period, why throw away those nations, NS, tech, cash? that would be stupid.

Do you see the world in black and white or do you understand shades of gray? Hitting peace mode to leave nuclear anarchy, collect, and buy 25 nukes is a tactic. If you come back out, that is. If you sit in peace mode, you're not using it as a tactic. You're hiding. If you can't understand the difference then you are in no position to tell me anything about tactics because you know nothing about war.

We're severely outnumbered, apart from CnG were facing at least another 10 alliances. Why on earth should we leave ourselves open for yous to attack at will rather than use a legitimate tactic to pick and choose targets ourselves whenever we want. Many of those in peace mode are taking a break from a month of fighting with many restocking up on nukes.

You say that. I don't believe you. I've been looking over your screens for over a week now and have seen the same people in peace mode.

I can't comment on Sparta but I can on MK. I've been watching them too. They're cycling in and out and fighting. THAT is a tactic.

Look harder. smug.gif

Also, a week is nothing. You can't even rebuy 20 nukes in a week. So look longer too.

And again you are not listening and missing the point

This war was finely balanced, the result more uncertain than any in a long while

Your side made a bold !@#$ or bust move by attacking CnG, but as soon as you were countered your allies resorted to more conventional tactics, with more co-ordination, more boldness and alot more flair IRON and friends could have hit an exposed flank hard, knocked an alliance or two out of the war and gained some momentum for your side, but that would have required throwing everything, including the reserves into one big push, and your allies lacked the ambition for that

'peace mode is a tactic' is a silly statement, unless that peace mode is used to rebuild and attack again. If not, peace mode = pixel saving.

You should make up your mind:

Either go in peace mode and accept peace,

or,

Don't want peace and go in war mode.

Editted to add:

I admire people like Matt Miller, for not minding the beating he t(ook/akes) in the Karma war and now again, while his whole alliance hides in peace mode.

Yes, Matt should get very high praise for actually fighting and not hoarding all that precious infra

Also, IRON hid in peace mode during Karma war too. this shouldnt surprise ANYBODY. i mean look at their awesome anti-ODN propoganda

Both cycling and staying in peace mode is a useful tactic. One is to be able to continue causing damage (those with good sized warchests) and the other to completely minimize damage. GATO did it in GATO-1v until NPO threatened them with PZI for each of them. FAN kept in peace mode during their war, among other tactics. To say that sitting in peace mode to minimize damage to your alliance really shows you do not know much about a long term defensive war. They are ensuring their ability to be able to rebuild quicker and are thinking in the long run about the future of their alliance after the war.

Yes, cowering to protect infra is a good strategy to protect infra. But it's still cowering. And from an alliance who, along with its allies, declared it would bloody CnG and SF on the way down, it's sure not very effective to cower. Hint: you're not bloodying me very much from peace mode. :awesome:

A nation in peace mode takes damage just as surely as a nation at war. The difference is a nation in peace mode doesn't do any damage back.

I say let them all run to peace mode.

It seems they dropped you nearly all of your NS to 712, before CSN aided you. I'd say they got you pretty well. Also, who are you referring to when you say "you're"?

So your not in this war? You just woke up today and said i am going to whine and cry about IRON? With the gang bang they are in i say do what they need to do. Stop whineing and make sure they can;t get into Peace Mode.

It should be noted that Penkala most likely made this thread in an attempt to get himself some attention. For all his act of maturity in the past, the fact that he has here resorted to childish taunting is very telling. He may be a good guy overall---my interactions with him suggest to me that such is the case---but he is in this thread exhibiting one of his less desirable traits.

By responding to him, you'll only be encouraging this sort of bad behavior on his part. I admit to my own mistake in not remembering this before posting my initial response in this thread.

"Lacked the ambition for that"? Why do you act as if you know more about all of this than people who were actually working with IRON?

He's been in and out of war with no break since the NpO-\m/ war... that would be why. Over a month and a half of fighting will do that to your nation when you don't infra hoard.

Admittedly he is more of a warmonger than anyone in CSN. It's like he breathes on the pixels of others or something... I believe some call it "no life". ;)

I think I am maybe going to take my "auto-put-on-ignore-whoever-brings-Peace-Mode-BAAAWING-arguments-to-the-table" rule off the shelf, after all.

But first I felt like saying how stupid it is to complain about your enemy using whatever strategy you didn't come to dictate and you weren't able to prevent them from adopting.

Yes. That tends to happen when you enter 6v1 fights for over a month, including against several nations with nukes. I mean I could have declared maybe one war at a time, or fought for a round of wars and then run to peace mode like IRON... I'd have saved more infra that way...

What do you base this off of? I don't really care about attention. I just like pointing out when people are full of crap. Like when they say "I'M GOING DOWN AND TAKING YOU WITH ME" and then hit peace mode. That's... not really going to help take anyone with you. And even if I did want the attention (which, like I said, I'm good on..)... how would that make my point any less correct? Irrelevant ad-hominem is irrelevant, Crymson. And if I were using your style of rebuttal I'd follow that with "just like you."

Actually I was in war since the NpO-\m/ war :P My first break from war came 2 days ago when Damsky surrendered.

Well, sure, IRON can use whatever 'strategy' they want. But if they say "WE'RE GOING DOWN BUT WE'RE BRINGING YOU WITH US"... then hit peace mode 2 weeks later... it's kind of a joke, isn't it?

You must have forgotten IRON is also in a war in which they are greatly outnumbered, (yes, they started it. No, I don't care what you think, they are currently the outnumbered ones) that could cause them a lot of damage if they haphazardly sent nations to war. How does one minimize damage for their alliance? Hitting peace mode to ensure long term survivability of the alliance's economy.

Also, if IRON nations had the opportunity to reach peace mode, why shouldn't they take it if they know they'll be slaughtered?

Yes... war can cause them a lot of damage so they're cowering to avoid it. That's literally my point. What are you arguing against it for?

And please pay attention this time: They Said They Would Be Going Down But Would FIGHT For A Long Time To BLOODY Us. Instead They Went To Peace Mode. The Reason They Shouldn't Is Because By Doing So, They Don't Live Up To What They Said They Would Do.

I've said it multiple times already and people keep asking "why SHOULDN'T they go to peace mode?". The answer is: because they said they'd go down fighting. Now they're going down hiding.

I fail to see the issue. They realized their mistake, a random member stated that, etc. Any reason could have changed their mindset and what is wrong with that?

This reflects badly on your own military organization that you did not stagger. Those that feel peace mode is not a legit tactic are just showing their own inexperience. Stupid post.

There's no point in those nations coming out of PM

of their top 10 3 don't have a war chest

even if they came out together their top 50 would be mobbed 3:1 by the opposition within a few hours

there is simply no point in wasting those nations on a death ride, for history buffs the parallel is the high seas fleet in 1918

far better to save those nations and use them as banks after the war

The High Seas fleet was scuttled by their crews rather than surrender their vessels to the allies as per surrender terms, IIRC.
