The First Rant: On the New Hegemony

Will people stop bloody throwing this term about every time someone sneezes? MK et all are not some sort of new hegemonic power with its tentacles in everything, controlling the world. You can see this in the Athens/Ni! incident and the aborted Worst War Ever; that particular side of the web is not at this time strong enough to absolutely impose its will on the rest of the game, as the treaty blob that formed around Q was once able to do. I'll grant you that they may possess such power when the dust settles after this war, but I somehow doubt it.

Beyond that, they are not "just as bad as us," as some of the members of the former hegemony assert (this argument is perhaps one of the more puzzling floating about the Cyberverse); they haven't had much chance to be so. The Karma War saw a number of alliances get off easy, and a number of alliances get fairly heavy reps, but one instance does not a proper sample make. The end of this current war will give a far better indication, provided CnG and co end up with enough leverage over TOP and co to enforce their will in whatever terms they so choose. Again though, I somehow doubt this will be the case.

I had other points, but they've flown into the ether, as my train of thought sometimes does. Enjoy the incoherence.

I thought it was a well known fact that all major alliances are directly controlled by MK and that in fact all alliance leaders of ever alliance in the top 50 was a MK plant. Everything that goes on is solely for Archon's amusement now. After this war is ended various alliances will acting out episodes of Friends, first we need to see who will be Joey though which is the real reason why this war started.

Their power is constrained by the age in which we live, where bawwwwwwing on the OWF matters, and there are still enough fence-sitters (I have no idea how that will pan out post-war) and moralists that enforcing draconian terms will likely be prohibitively expensive, assuming MK and friends are thinking about the alignment for the next war.

Also, anenu may well have a point. I know I'm an MK plant. :psyduck:

Good points. It's too early to tell whether the new ruling powers are "as bad as we were"(which by the way is one of the dumbest phrases CN has come up with).

While I am not on their side, the initial peace deals made by alliances of white peace have been very nice to see.

Well considering that the "new ruling powers" are the same people that got beat down years ago for abusing power or being disruptive it doesn't take a leap of faith to see where the world is going again.

sure they got beat down for abusing power thats right, wait what are you talking about? The people in charge now, if you could call it in charge as like mentioned before nobody has enough power to enforce an actual hegemony, where beat down for being a potential threat to those in charge at the time.

I, too, remember the time MK and friends got stomped for abusing the ability to do tech deals with people who ended up being rerolls. They are truly evil, and I am ashamed of myself for fighting alongside them.

I think it's safe to say that the reason behind this post is to inject propaganda into the cyberverse, rather than blog about your political feelings. What I hear is a commercial.

How many people like commericals? I sure don't.

With power, comes responsibility. The old hegemony did a much better job of executing political responsibility than the new one. Enjoy the power while it lasts. I'm confident that when the old hegemony returns to power, they will issue out the same kindness and consideration that has been given to them.

XD

Yes, I'm spouting off the party line. You can see the strings MK is controlling me with if you look hard enough.

I'm pretty sure I and my alliance have no power. I have no desire to have any; all I really want out of the Cyberverse is for most people to leave me alone.
