PoV: The War

I don't know what you call this war and I don't really care. There are many people fighting in this war, for what reasons I am not entirely sure of. I could call it The Confusion War if I really wanted to.

There are a few things I do know about this world and that is this: if you don't stick to your principles and what you stand for, you lose everything that you are. The politics on this world change like a shifting wind. It changes daily. There is no constant with it. If you don't choose your ideals and stick to what you mean, you lose who you are.

I am not entirely sure how this war has shifted, there has been many changes throughout this. I do know Duckroll declared on CnG and that includes IRON, one of my allies. They declared for their principles, I know IRON, they defended their allies and that is how they roll.

People can say what they want about the entire war. But the few things I've learned is this: if you don't stand for your principles, you lose what you stood for and everything you are. TOOL in its last 3 years of existence has always stood by its allies. TOOL has always said that our treaties are based off real friendships, that these ties would go to heck and back. IRON would do the very same for TOOL.

So the principles I've upheld for the last year as TOOL's Hand of Foreign Affairs and have seen for the last 2 years I've been in TOOL, those are the very ones we fight for. We fight not for the fact that it is IRON, but that they are an ally of TOOL's for the last 2 years and they need their friends alongside of them. You do not abandon your friends when they need you. So regardless of the confusion of this war or whatever circumstances, all I know is that IRON needs friends and TOOL is a friend of IRON's.

When the going gets tough, a true friend stays and fights alongside of them. Whatever the reasons, whatever the circumstances, you do not leave a friend behind in the dust. Whatever your issues, if you lose what you stand for, you lose everything. So TOOL fights for IRON as the same it would if it were Argent, FEAR or TPF.

For without your friends, without your principles, you really have nothing in this world where nothing else is constant besides those you show true friendship to and those principles you choose to guide yourself.

So these words that have been stuck in my head...

"'Cause there's always gonna be another mountain

I'm always gonna wanna make it move

Always gonna be a uphill battle

Sometimes I'm gonna have to lose

Ain't about how fast I get there

Ain't about what's waiting on the other side

It's the climb, yeah!"

I know this isn't going to be an easy battle or a quick one. That doesn't matter, it doesn't matter to me about the losing or the winning. If you can't face yourself in the end, say that you really stood by your allies, stood true to your word. Then there is nothing left in an alliance anyhow. You can save yourself true, but when you put yourself on the line and show your word means something, that you stand for your principles and friendships, that is something you cannot ever lose even if you don't win the battle. You won what really matters.

You won the right look yourself in the mirror and say you can back up what you mean. For being accountable to yourself matters far more than the reality of losing or winning in a world that never remains the same.

So, friendship is not determined by who stands with you during the easy times, it is determined by who flees when the going gets tough and who is left standing besides you shouting, "I'm with you!"

So IRON, I'm with you, whatever the future may bring. For it is the now that matters and the fact that you would go to heck and back for TOOL. Now TOOL shows the same for IRON.

And one last thing...

I've seen days where the ocean screams,

The skies betray and the thunder weeps,

I've seen days where the sun shines so brightly.

It appears as almost the clouds are dancing,

I've seen days where the world is so torn and tangled.

You wonder where one begins and ones takes off,

The world is complicated and vast,

So many lives and so many knots,

So many experiences and so many pasts,

So many footsteps left in the memories,

So many forgotten as a simple wisp in time,

I've seen days that never seem to end,

With the clock ticking endlessly by,

I've seen days that the sting of betrayal runs true,

And the resounding echo remains in mind,

I've seen days that the world rejoices in tears and happiness,

Tragedy and loss combined simply in one,

And yet the world keeps on spinning in its globe,

In the vastness of the world,

A single life of a dot on the speck of thousands of miles,

So many different people and all together,

So many fighting against one or another,

I've seen days that seem tireless and crisis one would never imagine.

The surrendering of one's own free will against unimaginable odds,

I've seen days of pure joy from victory,

From doing so well you wonder if it will come crashing down,

I've seen many days and I will continue to see many more,

For in the end, the combination of every experience is worth it,

Every footprint, every wisp in the wind and every tear,

All part of the intricacy of life,

For I have seen many days and I will see many more.

So for TOOL and for IRON!

I'd say friendship is about more then blindly fighting your friends wars.

There always is some ulterior motive.

But yeah, best of luck Mia.

I don't blindly fight but if you can't back up your friends when it matters, then you have lost the right to stand to your word. If you don't stick through them thick and thin, then you don't have the right to say anything later. Yes, sometimes there are issues but in a political world, there is always ulterior motives by different alliances. IRON is a friend and that friendship rings true. And which side those ulterior motives lie on, I don't know. But in the end, it is my word and my friendship that matters right now.

Don't get me wrong, I fully understand your reasoning and do not fault you for it.

The point I made was that there is a difference between friendship and blind loyalty. It ofcourse is up to the involved alliances ("friends") to draw that line, and I expect this will happen more often in the future.
