Council Ratifies Final Chuvash Language Laws

SYKTYVKAR - With Chuvash an official language of Uralica and in UY curriculum as of five days ago, a translation of The Laws Of Uralica into Chuvash completed three days ago, and the basic forms of all government agencies translated into Chuvash as of yesterday, only one thing remained to do with the language - fit it into the expansive Uralican Alphabet Reforms, and Jarkko Salomäki himself was the man responsible for fleshing out the project.

Given how Chuvash was written in Cyrillic beforehand, the objective of Salomäki and his peers was to Latinise this, as all school children in Uralica are taught both alphabets. Chuvash linguists approved of it before it was brought to a Tribal Council vote today, and it passed unanimously.

In other alphabet news, a unified orthography is still in the works for the six Saami languages.

Alkkis Returns To Bolakliiga With CSKVC

SYKTYVKAR - After being cut loose by two-time Bolakliiga champs Sikkivukarin Palloseura (SiPS), Karelian Seppo Alkkis wondered if he'd ever see the Bolakliiga again. Until about the 89th minute of tonight's thrilling match between CSKVC Kirov, his current club, and the favored Öskölömen Palloklubi, when he scored the winning goal to secure promotion from the Ykkönen.

Playing a 4-5-1, the Kirov side somehow managed to outshoot the favoured side 10-3, most likely owing to the solid defence of the Air Force club, led by team captain and Ykkönen all-star Mikhail Fedotov, and the lack thereof from the Finnish-named club, who were without two regular starting defenders, both having been injured in the match against Pechorski SK last week.

However, goalkeeper Artur Malenkov was NOT going to give up without a fight. He was 9 for 9 with his saves until a late corner that came out just a bit too far for him to punch. He tried to go for it after it landed, but left midfielder Galin Yugrov was just that bit faster, and with the defence and him both out of position, Alkkis had an easy finish and made no mistake.

They now join Trátyi TK (TTK) and Transit Sosnogorsk in the Bolakliiga next season. Coming the other way were Lokomotiv Kotlas, Spartak Yoshkar-Ola, and FK Ukhta.
