The Steelseries failure cost me a further 60 dollars today, to ship back to the UK. They sure as hell better find the bloody fault and refund that !@#$.
The replacement turns up tomorrowish I hope, an Audio Technica ATH AG1.
So remember when I brought that Steelseries thingy? It's already !@#$@#$ broken. Turns out Steelseries make their components out of !@#$, so the right earmuff doesn't deliver any sound any more. I'd simply get it replaced, but it's not particularly comfortable for extended wearing sessions. So I'm gonna try and get a refund.
The frontrunner now for replacing it is the Audio-Technica ATH-AG1, and I'm honestly not sure what else I'd actually get in its place.
The headset I ordered arrived yesterday- a Steelseries Siberia Elite. They feel like two marshmallows strapped to my ears. Thanks for all the advice that was actually not helpful but whatever.
Probably a long shot, but I'm stick of my crappy logitech made for skype headset and I want to upgrade to something more appropriate to the things that I like to do (listen to music and play various computer games). I'm aiming for higher end sets. I'm also aiming for something that comes with it's own external sound card or DAC, because I don't trust the quality of whatever passes for a sound card in my laptop. Finally, I'd prefer closed back; while I would like to be able to hear things around
