OOC: I think a lot of bloggers here need a visit from the pest control man. One or two ant blogs are kind of funny; 17,000 are just getting in the way. I am sure that there are several interesting political and historical (IC and OOC) blogs being posted. I don't want to see a whole page of 'The voice of #7169' when I go to the blog page to see the latest updates. Hopefully that joke will get old and the worthwhile blogs will rise to the top.
IC: International law now prohibits some of the most
While I am quite different from my fellow friends in the colony, I fit in quite well. How about you trying to be the sole fire ant of an entire colony???
So today I go outside the mound and find a person standing there. I of course do not hesitate to crawl up their leg and bite them on the ankle. Why? Because I like to irritate people, that's what fire ants do.
That was my excitement for today. I'll be back tomorrow with more stuff. I hope we get a new queen though, I'm tired of the used
Those sacs are not comfortable let me tell you, especially when you have 4 greasy mandibles ant-handling you to get up and moving faster like the damn roof was blown off the place. They got me cleaned up well and the food was good so I guess I'll give them that. #3928 had me start on basic tunnel digging. Apparently the roof did blow up and we're looking to move deeper down. It's only too bad that whatever took out the upper levels didn't take out this big rock that's blocking our digging ro
I've decided to make a weekly post relating my history in the game. It should be noted that weekly has been redefined to mean "whenever I feel like it." As a general disclaimer, I'm not bound by the laws of time and space, so if at any point the details of my story don't seem to mesh with your recollection of the order or details of events, it's because I altered history to fit what I remember, and you are now wrong.
I joined CN in the last week of July, just as the Great War was coming to a cl
Today a few of us left the mound to go find some food. It started out routine a few of us had some trouble getting over giant branches nearly a half foot tall. They got slippery after the rain last night. We found a load of dead worms on the other side of the large black cliff. There was a feast later that night, but the day wasn't all happy. On our way back #9721 was hit by a strange beam coming from a giant on the horizon. It made terrible terrible sounds as my companions around me were hit by
After a short break of eating slime and dirt to replenish myself, I was given the order to buddy up with a fellow worker to scavenge outside exit 12. I wished I could've picked #1674 as my teacher but was assigned to #656. If you don't remember, he was the one who played a bunch of pranks on me not 3 hours ago. *sigh*
So before we ventured out of the colony, #656 said in order to prepare for the adventure we need to "get our juices flowing" and visit Tunnel G-32. As described, there were many s
I was on the other side of the colony when it all happened. Even at that great distance though, I could hear the screams of terror and death echoing through the tunnels. It's not something I'll soon forget. I wanted to run to them and see what I could do to help, but being a guard, it was my sworn duty to protect the queen's private waste room that day. A lot of soldiers died fighting the aardvark and to replenish the ranks, a lot of us guardsmen are being reassigned to full soldier status.
So due to my larger than average legs, I was reassigned from food storage/preservation to construction/demolition. Our current job is to clear up the damage caused by the aardvark...
While working on tunnel 15 me, #384232, and #29123 came across some trapped friends!
Due to our access from the other side of the collapse we were quickly able to tunnel through to them.
#12462 seemed especially happy to see us. They've been sent down to get some food, so they can start working again.
#4102 started to help me reach the surface, but it was slow going -- these tunnels are not made for my fuzzy butt. I think that the queen will be displeased with me; I am covered in dirt, so there is little hope of returning to the hive with pollen. I should have stayed in the larval care hexagon.
Something happened and #4102 abandoned me. Lots of things that look just like him rush by me; I think something bad happened. Just then, there was a loud noise and the tunnel collapsed. I am now trapp
Let's talk about treaties - the bread and butter of politics, as it stands, second-only to IRC in terms of importance if you care to be relevant or "plugged in" at all.
It strikes me as amazing to see how times have changed since I started out here. By way of example - when we started our alliance, you could still get by without getting raided or rolled without treaties. We were offered a protectorate by VE, but actually turned it down, it just wasn't necessary and the idea of having a Big Brot

Not sure what happened, was in grasshopper carcass when smells of panic happened.
Ran back to colony even though didn't want to.
Something happened. Part of Upper Cone 3 is completely flattened and the south exit tunnels are all blocked. Found thorax and a few legs scattered here and there, but no answers.
Began to dig but didn't make much progress.
Moved to North tunnels and found entry ways crowded with activity. Saw #7 glare at us. Suspect cone collapse may be part of some strange rev
Anteaters, explosions...that's all well and good to get the average worker busy, busy, busy, but I've still got a drooping antenna.
Had a dream about the grasshopper last night. Saw him lurch back in sick surprise as we attacked him, the raw terror in his eyes a testament to the instant sobriety he found at that last moment. I can't get it out of my head, the way he just whimpered as we ripped him in two, the sad resignation that came over him as #211 tunneled into his spiracle. I can't tell t
I’m finally done with my first training session and it went great! I was told that I’m blessed with very sharp mandibles which made chopping up that forage a snap. At least I have that going for me!
With all the disasters going on I’m a bit hesitant to make my way to the surface. But orders are orders! I’m been promoted to ‘worker in training’ and they want me to buddy up with an experienced worker, at least 2 days old preferably. I hope I don’t get stuck with a mean worker. I hear
This is pulled from a discussion at CSN. Someone had made a comparison of President Elect Obama to FDR, and Queen Ann Lace pointed out that FDR's 'New Deal' did not turn around the US economy.
I do congratulate President Elect Barrack Obama. He ran a good campaign, and did a pretty good job of hiding his true beliefs.
As Queen Ann Lace mentioned, the depression did not end until the US involvement in World War II. Unemployment rates remained as high as 20% until the 40's, a full 10 years fo
So I was sitting here trying to sober up before reporting back to the tunnels when...
I don't know what's happening, but the dust is thick. I can barely breathe down here. Gonna have to find out what's happening. I can hear a lot of screaming and scuttling about outside my chamber. Damn this smoke...is it smoke?...well whatever it is, it's thick and choking.
I just peeked out, things are in total chaos. Someone said the entire top of the colony got blown up. No one's saying by what, bu
So that Ryebread that 44512 found. It wasn't Ryebread.
We dragged it down to Queenie. Hard work as she was nearly 17 inches down from the entrance. Anyway we got down there and guess what, there was 2932, Mr. king-of-the-anthill himself who told us Queenie doesn't like Rye. Freaking Fireant lied to me. Again!
So we dragged it back out - 62132 helped. We had just cleared the surface when it happened.
The light, who knows where it came from, but it was hot, a bunch of guards just explode
Look at the size of that thing. And it's all green. I bet I'll get a medal for finding it. I think I like the red ones better, on the whole. The green is too tangy, but anything's better than the yellow. I'm not convinced that there's fruit in it. I wonder how many ants it takes to lift a whole Jolly Rancher? I think I could get away with 5. Especially if I get #2342, she's built like a truck...
Anyway, off to be a hero!
