I see we have no Third Way Fascist/National Socialist nations. Would anyone be terribly offended if I went that route?

Knock yourself out. :)

I'm doing a Matriarchal, theocratic Republic. What does that classify as? :P

@Everybody: I made a coolio history involving my country and the countries directly to my north and south. If anyone wants to RP those countries, hit me up so we can discuss the past and present tensions/issues in this "cold war".

Greater Thriaxian Empire

Primary Languages: English

History: Over fifty years ago, industry was booming in the wide isthmus between the two great eastern continents. The government controlling the area employed very lenient policies in regards to regulation of the heavy industry that the controlling nation used the nation for. The country's underclass all gathered in that one tiny region, unable to find work elsewhere. The population swelled, and the previously pristine plains and rivers were covered in slums, vast tracts of land consisting of little more than tents and shanty towns surrounding clusters of factories. The largest of these clusters was located in the appromixate center of the isthmus, and this eventually became the region's capital, called Median City for its location between the two eastern continents. The wealthy and the government troops built themselves vast palaces, skyscrapers rising in the air and filled with all the pleasures that the people below were denied.

About 40 years before the present, a director of one of the larger factory clusters named Kerwin Thriax acquired a hunger for power and began to amass an army led by himself and other powerful men, with the rank and file composed mainly of hastily equipped workers and slum dwellers. They used a plain black flag for their symbol. Once the officials in Median City got word of a workers' revolution, it was too late for them. The Thriaxians had surrounded median city and millions upon millions of slum dwellers were gathering any weapons they could, even partially dismantling their shanties and wielding chunks of scrap. All advanced on the heavily fortified, yet pitifully undermanned center of Median City, with its gargantuan Median Tower in the dead center of a cluster of smaller skyscrapers. The Thriaxians closed in, overwhelmed the garrison, climbed over the barriers, and worked their way up to the apex of Median Tower, massacring the rich denizens every step of the way. Unrelenting, they fought their way through the last of the guards and up into the penthouse suite. At the highest balcony of the building, the region's governor was blown over the edge by a shotgun blast fired by Kerwin Thriax himself, after Kerwin told him "Your time is over. Mine has begun." In what would become the most featured event in Thriaxian art and history, Kerwin stripped the bloodied black shirt from his body and handed it to one of his soldiers, with a command to hang it from the highest point on the tower. The soldier complied, tying the shirt onto the antenna tower in the first hoisting of the Onyx Banner, even as the city burned. This man would later become Thriax's right hand man and would be instrumental in future victories.

Kerwin Thriax installed himself as supreme leader quickly, proclaiming himself the Lord Marshal Thriax. He sent his blackshirts to suppress any counter-revolutionary resistance. His shirt was eventually retrieved and enshrined, replaced by a far larger black banner on a point near the top of the newly named Thriax Tower, dead in the middle of Thriax Center. The Onyx Revolution was successful, but there were other problems ahead.

The nation whose region had been taken over invaded the land soon, trying to retake a major industrial center. Thriax used the immediate danger to his advantage, marshaling dissenters to defend their new country. It was a long and bloody war, but finally the Thriaxians prevailed. Kerwin Thriax became the center of a massive, state-enforced cult of personality. He was venerated as a living god, and as the years passed dissent fell slowly. Millions joined the Army, but Thriax knew he needed more than ill-equipped, fanatical army to defend his land and to expand his empire. He ordered the expansion of the already huge manufacturing and resource gathering sector, building an air force and navy. Within five years after the end of the war, the nation was stronger militarily and industrially than ever, but the huge population, even a fanatical one, could not tolerate such cramped conditions indefinitely, and they did need land to farm.

To the north and south were nations Thriax did not want to attack just yet, and so he used his large navy to take the surrounding islands, not only for farmland and more cities, but to act as a barrier from a seaborne attack.

For the past few decades, Thriaxia has struggled to maintain a two-front war with the island confederations to the east and north, as well as to suppress strong internal threats. The government also had to somehow deal with the lack of land and multiple famines. They became a major importer of food, counteracting the massive loss in funds by allocating a significant portion of industry to serve as "designated export producers," mostly supplying the less reputable nations of the world as well as criminal and terrorist organizations, producing everything from illicit drugs, chemical weapons, small arms, ammunition, military hardware, and always complimentary Thriaxian propaganda.

Present day Thriaxia. The Empire has now expanded from its cramped isthmus and conquered the majority of the outlying islands, converting many of the major landforms into naval and air force bases. Fighting still continues sporadically. The economy is entering another downturn as it exits another famine. The military is having trouble containing widespread insurgency. Kerwin Thriax, age 71, has died of cancer. His only surviving son, also named Kerwin Thriax, has taken the mantle of Lord Marshal and is doing his best to alleviate the continuing problems and secure the survival of the Thriax dynasty. The 21-year-old is the only survivor of a rebel attack on Thriax Center which nearly led to the downfall of the empire. Overcrowding is still critical, as are the food shortages. Thriaxian forces still maintain a large army and navy. The Army is composed of two informal "types" of soldiers: simply equipped militia, usually employing human wave attacks, and a smaller, veteran, expertly trained, better equipped sector, called the "Black Guard" considered more loyal to the dynasty than the militias and thus given greater responsibility. Thriaxian military doctrine is simple: overwhelming power with as much mobility as can be facilitated by sea and air power. Most shipbuilding and aircraft capacity is used for the purpose of transporting militia to battle zones. The Air Force has little purpose aside from this. The Navy, however, pays a good deal of attention to its battle fleet (as opposed to transport craft) for the purpose of securing its island holdings and providing an effective barrier between hostile fleets and the "mainland" isthmus.

Most of the powerful citizens reside in the "Towers," the area of highrises and skyscrapers in the middle of Thriax Center and other cities. The "middle class," which are party officials, dynasty loyalists, and military officers, live in high rises and modest apartment buildings in the inner cities. Like fifty years ago, the majority of the population still lives in poverty in vast, sprawling slums. Despite the island expansion, 90% of the population still resides on the isthmus.

Oh. I was actually trying not to do that. :V

I thought this was the thread where we post nation profiles and claim land, and the other one was where you posted your facts after you were put on the map. I'll repost in the other one.

Hm... would it be cool if I transferred the Nation of Nod into this canon to some degree?

Something like the Nodic Confederacy... gimme an almost landlocked place please. Medium to large in area.

There is no good guy or bad guy, just the guy who writes the history.
Yes yes, and I fully intend to write it... now, about that land? :v:

Forget about the Nodic Confederacy. For now, I'll be the Nodic Kingdom.

The way i want my nation's history to go, The Nodic Kingdom starts off well and good as a Absolute or Constitutional Monarchy. Everything is nice and quaint, however, the Kingdom has a long standing beef with a neighbouring nation. Said rival manages to infiltrate the Nobility with a nurse or attendant of some sort.

The Nodic King has no heirs, but soon one of his concubines produces one. It is a young boy, loved by many, but his title is disputable. The King hesitates to announce his heir and as such the mother starts to become exasperated at her otherwise loving Lord.

This is where the infiltrator comes in. She eventually convinces the mother to assassinate the King, hereby forcing the nobility to accept her son, as he is the closest the Kingdom has to a new King, lest the Kingdom fall apart. However, the boy gets killed along side his father. The Mother seizes the crown and the the Kingdom becomes a Queendom.

However, there is another heir. An immediate relative of the deceased King, a young Tintagurl of sort, has a son. There is a dispute and a royal spat ensues. In any case, for what ever reason these two are offed along with the Queen. Military steps in, places a puppet rule, Authoritarian nation is born.

In any case, I'd need someone to RP having a standing rivalry with my Nation, so I can kick off this transition.

Sounds good. If the top most portion of the land mass you're on is open, the segment due West from Yuktobania, I'd like to have it and its northern island chains please.

Yeah, it's open, and I'd be down with that. So now it's left to Arieg.
