Year start: 1989

Rules
Technology will be late 80s, if it wasn't flying, floating, or rolling by 1989 I don't want to see it.
Nuclear, biological, and chemical weapons are not on the table for use in unscripted warfare.
Nuclear events will result in the permanent destruction of the target, if you nuke a city it is gone.. period.

No more then 3 superpowers
No more then 4 major powers

I've pitched this idea before but I got dragged into a galactic scale style version on another forum (crashed an burned) and completely forgot about this one (a thousand pardons). Anyways I'm open to ideas.

A few details I've hashed out however.

- Technology: This will be in the late 80s, roughly 1989 so were all employing Cold War equipment and probably mindsets.
- Previous Events: I'd like to have preexisting strains on the various international relationships such as past wars, betrayals, maybe a few genocides.
- Nuclear Warfare: Were probably going to be nuclear armed but unlike the game letting the nuclear cat out of the bag will probably result in this crashing and burning, as fun as they are in game realistically (common sense) your not going to employ them in a conflict. So for now lets leave them as a deterrent and status symbol only.
- The map I will post sometime in the next few days, if you remember the old thread it'll be that one but I'm updating it to my present drawing practices.
- Predesignated borders: I'm going to cookie cut the territory into predesignated areas for the below reason, unclaimed ones will serve as NPCs or simple neutral countries that sit there and do nothing (IE leave them alone) until they are acquired by a new player.
- Blocs: Open to discussion.

Sounds fun, I would love to be apart of this.

This simply seems a lot like ERP, just 21 years ago. If anything, get rid of the Cold War and as you put, replace it with a bunch of events that bring the world to the brink of destruction with a sudden peace treaty to end it. This would 1) prevent entire civilizations from instantly appearing and 2)allows us, the RPers, to actually customize our cities instead of having to rely on real-world cities and their limitations.

The goal right now is to have us embroiled in a cold war maybe even having it lean toward the commencement of hostilities.

A city is a city, about the only ones that will matter will be your capitals and whatever you choose to include in your conflicts.

Its a new setting entire civilizations are going to pop up, heck were not even using earth here (continent wise).

Add: Map is up.

That isn't an Ace Combat map, is it?

It kinda looks like it, but not really, in the Ace Combat map, there are two giant continents facing each other, look the map up on Ace Combat wiki and compare it to this map.

Hmm. Yeah, it does look similar, but after thinking about it a bit, it doesn't look the same...you're right. though it still looks familiar from somewhere...

I have a question.

Does this use IG stats?
[/quote]
I hope not.

I like this concept, especially with a blank slate to start on. It would add a whole new dimension to the RP of players got together and designed a Cold War that they're in the middle of so that tensions are realistic and written on stone.

No, its not related to cybernations stats, I'm giving you a template to fill out (its in the first post). As far as military stats keep it within reason, such as if your the size of Germany it would probably be a good idea to base your numbers off of theirs or at least use those numbers as a starting point and then alter it to your preferences.

Speaking of the template go ahead and start filling it out and pic a nation on the map, I'm about to launch the nation sheet.

As far as GMs this is going to be a dictatorship, but I'll only step in when I have to (such as someone totting a superweapon). I have faith in you guys being reasonable human beings however.
