The VC have hit our CP and attempted to KIA some AM. We must meet this threat with our courage, our valor, indeed with our very lives to ensure that our alliance, not monsters, dominates this jungle now and always. Operation Meowing Thunder has been underway for about a week now, about the time the rain started. We been through every kind of rain there is. Little bitty stingin' rain... and big ol' fat rain. Rain that flew in sideways. And sometimes rain even seemed to come straight up from underneath. Shoot, it even rained at night... But that hasn't sapped the energy out of this mission. Consider this quote from some groovy cat near the DMZ; "You smell that? Do you smell that?... Napalm, son. Nothing else in the world smells like that. I love the smell of napalm in the morning. You know, one time we had a hill bombed, for twelve hours. When it was all over I walked up. We didn't find one of 'em, not one stinkin' monster body. The smell, you know that gasoline smell, the whole hill. Smelled like... victory. Someday this war's gonna end..."
