Cuba (4/7)

The war for Cuba rampages on. Loyalist forces desperately try to hold on against constant assaults by Spanish and contra rebels. Most of eastern Cuba has fallen and rebels are ransacking the west trapping what's left of Cuba's republic into the town of las tunas. Mendoza has ordered construction on airfields to begin immediately and promising 10,000 pesetas to any Cuban that registers themselves as citizens of the empire effectively buying the people off.

Cuba (5/7)

Las Tunas still flies a loyalist flag but the town is a ravaged war zone between rebels and those who fight for a free Cuba. Spanish forces have restricted themselves to a support role letting rebels do most of the fighting. Alfonso Imani has been named the governor of Cuba in the service of the empire and has already set up his headquarters in Havana. Plans to expand military bases across the island are being discussed.

Spanish citizens continue to have a quiet opinion of the ongoing war in Florida, the war for the most part has been nothing more than an excuse to push recruitment for the Imperial army encouraging citizens across the empire to join up. Several African citizens are offered full citizenship if they join along with 5,000 pesetas for their families. Governors in the African territories received 54 million Pesetas to build new water treatment plants and power plants.

Cuba (6/7)

Reinforcements were not coming, the defenders of las tunas were finally broken after days of fighting. Thousands lie dead in what has been the bloodiest battle of the Cuban war. Spainish forces wasted no time in launching an inquisition hunting down any supporters of the old Cuban government and eradicating them. Rebels were integrated into the imperial military and Spanish flags flew across the island. The take over was nearly complete, work on several airfields commenced and imperial transport ships bringing in military supplies, heavy bombers and officials needed to rebuild the island. Pockets of resistance remained, but the war had practically ended.

Spanish citizens celebrated the defeat of old Cuba and hope for another victory in Florida soon.

An air courier was sent from England to Spain carrying a letter marked with the royal seal and addressed to the government of Mendoza.

Dear sir,

We greet you with congratulations on your recent successes in North America. It has come to our attention that Spain has come under the governance of a most effective and stable system of government, for which we hold nothing but admiration. The Kingdom regrets that it was unable to aid Spain in the civil war of years past, as it was experiencing its own state of turmoil at that time. We the King wish to extend to your government an invitation to visit England for discussions of the state of Europe, future relations, and other matters as may arise.

This invitation does not carry an implication of formality or informality - as such, you may decide the nature of the visit. If it is to be a state visit, we expect to receive you officially at Buckingham Palace. If this does not suit you, our personal estate at Sandringham House in Norfolk remains readily accessible by aeroplane, the most expedient and gentlemanly of travel methods. Additionally, we would be personally thankful if you were to host our messenger until such time that he is able to return with your reply.

Yours sincerely,

His Majesty Edward VIII, by the Grace of God, of England and Wales King, Defender of the Faith, Lord of Mann

Imperial diplomats led by Antonio Mendoza nephew to the emperor Mendoza and heir to the Spanish empire would arrive in England to meet with the new English government.

Cuba (6/7)

With several former Cuban government officials signing the espana Concorde of Cuba Spain's takeover was completed. Spanish troops on the island began work on several military bases and critical airfields. However a new threat had arrived from socialist from the mainland. Conscription on the war weary Cuban population was ordered and 10,000 defenders began digging in to defend the empire's new province.

The Empire was now once again embroiled in another war in the New World. This time against Communist parasites. Mendoza has declared that the Communist States of America are eternal enemies of the Empire and that they shall pay for spilling innocent blood at the massacre of Cuba depicting the sinking of over 20 transport ships as the reason for the war. Unlike the war in Florida which had many Spanish citizens on the fence, this attack sent the nation into a frenzy millions of Imperial citizens across the empire signed up for reserve duty and work in military production plants.

The rest of the Imperial navy resting off the coast of Gibraltar and the Canary Islands began deployment across the Atlantic effectively hunting down any ships heading into North america specifically the Southern States.

The remaining Spanish sub fleet would hunt down civilian merchant ships of the CSA and sink them, no one would be spared. Mendoza also enlisted a special task force to hunt down communist sympathizers in his country as well as spies, The Second Spanish Inquisition was underway as black clothed agents of Mendoza began arresting anyone believed to be a supporter of the communists.

WAR!

The Spanish Empire was exercising its full might against a foe across the Atlantic, yet the casualties were stacking up. Factories began pumping out munitions and recruitment camps across the empire reloaded the Imperial infantry with troops for the war effort. The big issue however was getting Panzer tanks out and rolling from factories, this issue coupled with the brewster being a questionable fightercraft and the slow production of naval ships pushed the Imperials into total war mode.

First the Spanish needed a fighter craft that could contend with the CSA on even grounds, Construction of Grumman F4F Wildcats were put into production in Portugal with a plan to have them replace Brewster fighters in the next three years. Panzer II tanks were now being built in automobile plants producing replacements lost in Florida slowly but surely. Finally Gibraltar reported a new battleship constructed and began work on several new cruisers, unemployment is at an all time low as Spanish citizens work 7 days a week up to 12 hours in war production plants.

Meanwhile, Inquisition forces have arrested over 3,000 suspected socialist supporters along with anyone believed to support the old republic and placed them in labor camps. These suspects are usually tied and convicted on the spot of being arrested and sentenced to life in labor for the state.

(Greater Bermuda)

1/7

Spanish troops and ships had already overrun the islands establishing a makeshift base of operations to war against the CSA, Imperial forces began building stockades filled with food and supplies for Spanish ships heading Westward. bunkers and machine gun nests cropped up along the beach and work began on airstrips to bring in heavy bombers to strike the coastline. Spanish subs made use of Hamilton port to restock and rest before returning out on patrol tightening the Empire's grip on the Atlantic.

With Hamilton's government unable to protest the occupation, it seemed that Spain would now expand across the Atlantic without resistance.

Greater Azores

1/7

Plans to take Azores had been in Mendoza's vision for the Empire long before war in America broke out, Imperial agents infiltrating the islands began influencing the local population to take interest in becoming part of the Spanish Empire. With only a handful against the idea the Azores Contra party was founded, Ponta Delgada's government had become independent from Portugal prior to it becoming part other Empire and seeing what has become of other territories joining the Spanish has protested the Contra's presence asking them to leave. Contra agents have begun influencing members of the military into joining their cause due to the similarities of Azores current situation to that of Spain's almost a decade ago. The underpaid, outdated and morale stricken troops that defend the island have so far ignored the government's orders to remove the political party.

Greater Bermuda

Spanish port facilities are now established on the main island with a sub den being built in Hamilton, underground bunkers holding supply depots and communication posts trace across the islands setting up a network of control over Bermuda. The Hamilton government has for the most part been rendered useless by an installed military governor hand picked by Mendoza.

(2/7)

Azores

Several soldiers in the Azores military have continued to ignore orders from Ponta Delgada to remove Contra agents from the islands. Villages on the Southern islands have for the most part sworn allegiance to the Imperials in exchange for promises of increased trade coming to the islands bringing wealth to the region. With Spanish ships bringing goods out of Gibraltar quickly buying out the population, island officials are planning to desperately wage a war to prevent Azores from falling into Spanish control.

(3/7) Greater Bermuda

The military governor of Bermuda has taken his place in Hamilton removing the former government from power, while protests of Spain's sudden annexation of the islands were heard nothing can be done by the native population. Spanish engineers have begun work on two airfields one on the main island and one of St George's island. Once completed heavy bombers and BF-109 fighters will be brought from Spain.

(3/7)

Azores

Gun shots rang out from Ponta Delgada today as the divide among the Azores military reached a boiling point, with several wanting to defend the independence of the islands and others wanting Imperial membership the small nation is heading toward civil war. Most of the other islands have fallen to Spanish influence and control with Vila do Porto becoming the Imperial headquarters. Sao Miguel currently stands as the only island left not under Spanish control.

Engineers have completed work on two airfields necessary for Imperial control, cargo planes bringing in much needed supplies arrived from Portugal. Spanish sub crews now have a place to rest and relax from patrolling the CSA coast and cutting off trade from the Atlantic. Any protest from the natives have been silenced and members of the Hamilton government have been disappearing daily.

(4/7)

All out civil war has broken out in the city of Ponta Delgada between independent forces and Contra influenced Imperials. Independents so far hold most of the city under their control but with Spanish support the Imperials could seize the city in just a few days. Spanish transports carrying weapons and supplies for Imperials now have them armed with better weapons and a never ending supply of food and water while a Spanish battleship sits off the coast cutting off the defenders from the outside world.

With no trace of the Bermuda government left the Spanish aligned government easily took over the islands. Test flights with long range bombers and fighter craft brought over from transports shower promise as the islands will easily secure Spain's hold over the Atlantic sea.

(5/7) Azores

The civil war in ponta delgada hit a turning point as contra forces seized control of the city's utility infrastructure and further pushed loyalist inward into the city. Food shortages have forced citizens to defect to imperials for survival as loyalist spend resources to defend the city in hopes of outside support stepping in.

(6/7) Bermuda

Spanish ports and airfields are in full swing pulling supplies into the islands and establishing military checkpoints. As Imperial forces remove any signs of Bermuda being an independent region, citizens living on the island now contemplate their lives under Fascist Spain and if they can survive being on the edge of the growing military empire.

(secret)

Members of Bermuda's old government were taken to an undisclosed location and executed by Imperial agents. Vocal opposition leaders have been abducted and sent to the front lines of Jacksonville.

(6/7) Azores

With Ponta Delgada's defenders running out of food and ammunition the imperial aligned forces launched an all out assault into the main area of the city. Loyalist forces were pushed into a desperate fight for survival as Imperials rolled over the defenders. By mid day the city of Ponta Delgada fell, a military governor selected by Madrid arrived to take over the island's basic operations and oversee the construction of several ports and Spanish sub pens. Azores troops that defected to the Imperial cause were fully integrated into the Spanish army and given proper uniforms and equipment.

(7/7) Bermuda islands

With squadrons of BF-109's patrolling the islands from the newly installed airfields and Spanish troops digging in machine gun nests by the beaches, the Bermuda islands were effectively Spain's newest colony. Savoia-SM.81 bombers were now arriving and quickly being prepped for bombing missions against the CSA, heavy Piaggo bombers had to be delivered in pieces and would take another week to assemble and send into combat.

Engineers would get to work installing coastal guns and a brand new radar system to alert the islands of oncoming Communist forces. Spain would not allow another Cuba to fall into CSA hands.

(7/7) Azores islands

Spanish flags flew over Ponta Delgada as Imperial transports bringing in supplies and fresh troops arrived to the islands. A small airfield had brewster fighters take patrols around the islands and Spanish Uboats began surfacing along designated sub pens being built by the local population. With recovery efforts and sub pens being built there was no shortage of jobs as the people of the islands enjoyed the new sudden influx of work and money being brought to the region. Several poorer Spanish citizens from the Mainland and Africa began migrating to Azores to take advantage of the situation.

  • 2 months later...

The Imperial palace was baking under the summer sun, the summer had been intense but the Spanish emperor was safe from the heat wave thanks to recent installation of a new AC unit. Mendoza was now making his public appearances a rarity, obsessed with the war across the Atlantic his generals and high command often bringing him news and more information. Mendoza had been the Emperor the empire for several years now and at war with the Communist almost just as long. The Commonwealth went silent, along with the rest of the globe, it seemed anything outside the empire was nothing but dead silence.

Staring at the map in the war room, he glared right at florida. Sending more and more soldiers to their deaths in a front with no success would place the empire in depression had the propaganda department not been successful in selling that imperial troops were achieving success on all fronts.

Spain had succeeded in seizing more territory across the Atlantic, but failed in taking Cuba and Florida. And now Mendoza needed to make a tough decision, continue the war or end it. Thousands of deaths, millions of Pesetas spent, and only islands to show for it.

The time had come to make a decision, the deadlock at Jacksonville was only doing one thing, killing soldiers in droves and now entering his fifties Mendoza wanted to refocus the empire on another prize. Europe.
