Cyber Nations Forum Rules   07/03/2016

        Cyber Nations Forum Rules
In the process of registering on this forum, all players--including you--agreed to accept these terms and conditions and the terms and conditions of Invision Power Board. In doing so you essentially signed an electronic contract pledging to have read the rules and TOS and agreeing to follow the rules and TOS as written. It is your continued responsibility to read, follow, and keep up-to-date with the CN rules.
The following are basic guidelines for use of the Cyber Nations community forum. Anyone caught disobeying these guidelines will be issued a warning. The forum staff works on a five warn limit policy unless the situation calls for more appropriate action ranging from a verbal warning to a double warn and suspension to an immediate ban, etc.   Just because something is not listed specifically here as illegal does not mean it's allowed. All players are expected to use common sense and are personally responsible for reading the pinned threads found in the Moderation forum. Questions regarding appropriateness or other concerns can be sent via PM to an appropriate moderator.   A permanent ban on the forums results in a game ban, and vice versa. Please note that the in-game warn system works on a "three strikes you're out" policy and that in-game actions (including warnings and deletions) may not be appealed. For more information regarding in-game rules please read the Cyber Nations Game Rules.   1.) First Warning
2.) Second Warning
3.) Third Warning (48 hour suspension at the forum)
4.) Fourth Warning (120 hour suspension at the forum)
5.) Permanent Ban   Game Bans and Forum Bans
If you receive a 100% warn level on the forums, you will be subject to removal from the forums AND have your nation deleted and banned from the game at moderator(s) discretion.   If you are banned in the game, then you will be banned from the forums.   Process of Appeals
Players may not appeal any in-game actions. This includes cheat flags, canceled trades, content removals, warn level increases, nation deletion, and bans from the game.   Players may appeal individual forum warnings. You may only appeal a warning if you can show with evidence that it was unwarranted or unduly harsh. If a reasonable amount of time has passed (no less than one month and preferably longer) in which you have demonstrated reformed behavior than you may request a warning level reduction. Wasting staff time with inappropriately filed reports and/or unfounded appeals will result in a warn level raise. Repeat incidences will result in a ban from the forum.   Bans are permanent. Banned players may appeal to the Senior Staff if they believe grounds exist (very, very rare) in which they state their case with evidence and why explain why they believe they deserve to be allowed back into Cyber Nations. This process is not quick and the investigation into cases may last three minutes or three weeks or more depending on the individual situation.   The only place where discussion of moderator action is acceptable is in the appropriate Moderation forum. Posting commentary on or disagreement with moderator action elsewhere will result in a warn level raise.   Posting
All posts must be in English. Common phrases in other languages will be allowed so long as they are translated upon request. Foreign languages are permitted in signatures and avatars, however.   Certain areas of the forum require you to have a nation in either standard CN or CN:TE. If you have...   A SE and a TE nation: You get one forum account. Your forum account name must match your SE nation or ruler name. You are allowed to post in either SE or TE areas of the forum. You must have your CN:TE nation name listed in your profile to post in the CN:TE section of the forum.
Just an SE nation: You get one forum account. Your forum account name must match your SE nation or ruler name. You are not allowed to post in any TE areas of the forum.
Just a TE nation: You get one forum account. Your forum account name must match your TE nation name or ruler name. Your must have your CN:TE nation name listed correctly in your profile. You are not allowed to post in any of the SE areas. You are allowed to post in the water cooler, question center and the moderation forums. Other than that, all your posts need to stay in the TE area.   Flame/Flamebait/Trolling
Flaming is expressing anger or lobbing insults at a person/player rather than a character, post, idea, etc. Flamebait are posts that are made with the aim of targeting/harassing/provoking another user into rule-breaking. Trolling is submitting posts with the aim of targeting/harassing/provoking a specific group into rule-breaking. Forum users should not be participating in any of these, and doing so will result in a warning.   Topic Hijacking
Hijacking is forcing the current thread discussion off of the original topic and usually results in spam or flame from either side. Forum users found hijacking threads will be given a warning.   Repeat Topics
One topic is enough. Repeat topics will be locked, removed, and the author given a warning. Users found creating repeat topics after others were locked by staff will receive a warn raise.   Joke Topics
Topics created as a joke are prohibited. Joke topics will be locked and the author warned. This includes topics in which the author is making an announcement “for” another in-game alliance. Humorous threads are permitted; it is up to the discretion of the moderation staff to determine what is merely satire and what is actually a joke topic.   Spam
Spam is defined as creating posts or topics containing only contentless material of any kind. Users found spamming will receive a warning. Examples include (but are in no way limited to) posts containing nothing but smilies, "+1", "QFT", "this" any other one/few-word contentless combination, joke threads, or posts containing quotes and anything that counts as spam by itself. Adding words to a post with the express intent of avoiding a spam warn will result in a warning. These posts and other similar contributions have no substance and hence are considered spam. Posts of "Ave", "Hail" or any other one word congratulatory type are acceptable as one word posts. Emoticon type posts such as "o/" without accompanying text is still not allowed. Posts containing only images are considered spam, unless the image is being used in the Alliance Politics sub-forum and then the actual text of the image be placed into spoiler tags.   Posting in All Caps
Posting large amounts of text in capital letters is not permitted. Use discretion when using your caps lock key.   No Discussion Forums
There are forums that are not for discussion and are used strictly for game and forum staff to address certain issues, bugs, etc. The following forums are not open to discussion: Report Game Abuse, Report Forum Abuse, and Warn/Ban Appeals. Only moderators and the original poster may post in a thread, period, with absolutely no exceptions. Users found disobeying this guideline will receive an automatic warning for each offense.   Moderation Forums
All Moderation forums also maintain pinned threads clearly marked as required reading before posting. Failure to read and follow required reading and procedure in a Moderation forum will result in a warning. Examples include posting requests in the wrong forum, failure to include all required information in posts, etc. The standard of conduct and enforcement of rules in Moderation forums is strictly enforced and the repercussions for disregarding rules or disrespecting staff are harsh. Read the pinned threads before posting and you will be fine.   Namecalling
Excessive or unqualified namecalling is not allowed in IC forums; namecalling should also never make up the bulk of a post. Namecalling is prohibited entirely in all OOC forums.   Filtered Words
Any attempts to evade the word filter will result in a warning. The terms we have filtered are filtered for a reason and no excuse for evasion will be accepted. Filter evasion includes censoring or deliberately misspelling part of a filtered word.   If you link to a website, image, video, etc., containing profanity, please post a disclaimer before the link. The moderation staff may still remove links if the content is deemed too obscene.   Harassment
Forum users should not be stalking/harassing others on the forums. Anyone found stalking players from topic to topic, etc., will be subject to a warning.   Gravedigging
Gravedigging is not allowed anywhere on the forums. Gravedigging is "bumping" old topics which haven't been active for quite some time (four to seven days is standard depending on the nature of the thread and how many pages back it had been pushed before bump). Your warn level will be raised if you are caught doing this.   The Suggestion Box and Black Market forums are partial exceptions to this rule. Suggestions/ideas in that forum may be posted in regardless of age PROVIDING that the reviving post contains constructive, on-topic input to the original topic or discussion. Black Market threads may be bumped by the author if there is new information about the offered exchange (i.e open aid slots). In the Player Created Alliances forum it will not be considered gravedigging to bump a topic up to a year old, so long as the alliance in question still exists and it is not a duplicate thread.   Signatures
Those who fail to read and abide by these rules will have their signatures removed and receive a warning.   You may have only one image per signature which may not exceed the maximum size of 450 pixels wide by 150 pixels tall. You may have no more than 8 lines of text and text size cannot exceed size 4. Each quote-tag, image and empty line count as a line.   Inappropriate Images and Other Disallowed Images
Images that are sexual in nature or have sexual overtones are prohibited. It is up to the discretion of the moderation staff to determine what constitutes sexual overtones. Depictions of kissing are permissible provided there are no sexual implications. Images depicting female nipples are prohibited outright.   Making “ASCII art” is prohibited regardless of the image depicted.   Using photos or likenesses of another Cyber Nations player is also prohibited.   Drug References
Images and posts promoting illegal drug use are prohibited. References to drugs are acceptable only if the moderation staff deems that it is not promoting the use thereof.   Obscene Content and/or "Account Suicide"
Anyone caught posting vulgar material (including but in no way limited to pornography, "gross," "tubgirl," "lemonparty," photos depicting RL illegal acts such as violence towards humans or animals, child pornography, death photos, and any other obscene or offensive material in either text form or picture form) will have their account(s) permanently banned, and their ISP contacted along with any other applicable internet and RL authorities.   OOC Threats / Revealing Personal Information
An OOC threat of any nature will equate to an automatic ban from the game and forums. Likewise, the publishing of personal information of any other player without their explicit permission is grounds for warning and/or a ban from the game depending on the severity of the offense.   Death Threats / Death Wishes
A death threat or a death wish of any nature (including but not limited to telling another player to commit suicide) will result in at very least a 40% warn level increase and 2 day suspension from the forums, with harsher punishments, including a complete ban from the forums and game, up to the discretion of the moderation staff.   Quoting Rulebreaking Posts
Do not quote any post with obscene content or any other content that has to be removed by the moderation staff. Doing so makes it more difficult for the moderation staff to find and remove all such content and will result in a warn level increase. Putting rulebreaking posts of any kind in your signature is prohibited.   Forum Names
With the exception of moderator accounts, all forum accounts must match up exactly with the ruler name or nation name of your in-game country. Those found not matching up will be warned and banned immediately. Forum account names may not be profane or offensive.   Multiple Forum Accounts
With the exception of moderators, if you are caught with multiple forum accounts, the multiple account(s) will be banned, warn level raised, and your identity will be announced by a moderator to the CN community so rule-abiding players can take IC action against you. Multiple forum account offenders will receive a varying percentage warn level raise and/or a permanent ban on a case-by-case basis.   Posting For Other Players
Posting for banned or suspended players is prohibited, as is posting for any person without a nation. This includes making warn and ban appeals on their behalf.   Imitation &. Impersonation
Imitation in terms of this forum is mimicking the posting, avatar, or signature styles of another user in an attempt to be satirical or generally humorous. Impersonation in terms of this forum is copying the posting, avatar, or signature styles of another user in order to present the illusion that the person is in fact that user. Imitation is fine and can be quite funny. Impersonation is disruptive and is warnable. Please pay attention to the subtle difference between these two concepts.   A player may not impersonate another player by emulating the characteristics of someone else's past or present account in an attempt to harass, stalk, or flamebait. Creating a new forum account in an attempt to impersonate a standing account will result in deletion and banning without notice.   Any attempt at imitation and/or impersonation of moderators and game staff is strictly prohibited and will be met with harsh repercussions.   Avatars
Size for avatars is limited by the forum mechanics, therefore there is no size issue for a user to worry about. Avatars must be in good taste, and any avatar containing a picture that is too violent, disgusting, sexually explicit, insulting to another player or staff member, etc. will be removed. Avatars that are potentially seizure inducing will not be permitted. Players may not "borrow" the avatars of any moderator past or present without permission.   Swastikas and Nazi Imagery
The swastika may not be used in signatures or avatars. Pictures of swastika's are acceptable for use in the In Character (IC) sections of the roleplay forums, so long as its context is In Character, and not Out Of Character. Pictures of Hitler, mentioning of the Holocaust, etc... have no place in the roleplay forums, since these people and events existed in real life, and have no bearing or place in the Cyberverse. Other Nazi or SS imagery is forbidden in all forums.   Moderation Staff
The revealing of the private identities of any Cyber Nations staffers past or present is strictly prohibited, and thus no speculation/accusation of identity is allowed. Doing so is grounds for moderator action against your account appropriate to the offense, including a full forum/game ban.   Claims of moderator bias should be directed to the highest level of authority--the Head Game & Forum Mod/Admin, Keelah. Claims of moderator bias without supporting evidence is grounds for a warning.   Blatant disrespect of the moderator staff is strictly prohibited. This includes but is not limited to spoofing moderator accounts in any way, sig/avatar references, baiting, flaming, rude demands, mocking, attitude, and unsubstantiated claims of bias. They are volunteers hired to enforce the rules. If you have a problem with the way a moderator is enforcing the rules or the rules themselves please contact Keelah.   Attempting to use the moderation staff as a weapon by abusing the report system in an attempt to get another player warned or banned is strictly prohibited.   Do not ask about becoming or campaign to become a moderator. The moderators are drawn from CN membership but moderation positions are by invitation only. Asking to become one will substantially decrease your chances of ever being asked.   Aiding Rule Violators
Any user found to know of a serious rule violation without reporting it to a game moderator (eg. knowledge of a user with multiple nations) will be given a warning or, in more serious cases, have their nation deleted.   Aiding Banned Players
Any user found to be harboring, aiding or otherwise knowingly helping a banned user will be deleted. This includes knowing of their existence within the game without reporting it to the game-moderation staff.   Questionable Actions and Content
The forum rules are not designed to cover every scenario. Any action that is seen to be counter-productive or harmful to the forum community may be met with moderator action against your account. The Cyber Nations Moderation Staff reserves the right to take action against your account without warning for any reason at any time.   Private Transactions
Nation selling and other private transactions via such auction sites like eBay is against the Cyber Nations terms and conditions. While our moderators cannot control what people do outside of the game you are not allowed to promote such private exchanges on our forums without expressed permission from admin only. Anyone found to be engaging in such activity without permission will be banned from the game.   Advertising
Advertising other browser games and forums is prohibited. Soliciting donations towards commercial causes is also prohibited. If you wish to ask for donations towards a charitable cause, please contact a moderator before doing so.   Extorting Donations
Donations are excluded from any kind of IC payment. Anyone found extorting others for OOC payments will be warned in-game and/or banned.   Third Party Software
Third party software is not allowed to be advertised on these forums by any means (post, signature, PM, etc). These programs can easily be used to put malware on the user's computer, and as such can cause huge security issues. Anybody who is caught spreading links to these will at the very least have their warning level increased.   Other Forum Terms & Rules   Please take a moment to review these rules detailed below. 1. The Somalia incident

Ooc: just something I'm tossing up. It's open to anyone who wants something to do. Decades of what seemed like dead almost silent peace across the globe was disturbed in east Africa by the roar of gunfire, before anyone knew what was going on the government was overthrown and armed militants had flooded the streets of Mogadishu. Firefights between Somali military and armed rogues tore the city apart, and before morning rose a large crowd stormed the Parliament building grabbing everyone inside. Street side executions in the most medieval manner possible were conducted as the unknown armed force tightened its grip on the city. Radio and television stations were then seized, broadcasting the news to Somalia and Africa abroad. A man with several facial scars sat down on a chair and began speaking. "My name, is Abraham Sadiq, I am the leader of the Somalian people's army, and I have come my friends to free us from the shackles of this corrupt and destitute government. These politicians who sit, eat like kings and watch us die in poverty are no longer safe. They promise, time and time again, change is coming oh this day will be different or elect me and we shall bring wealth and prosperity to Somalia....such lies they speak. In just a few hours, I have brought you change. In a few more, I will purge this wretched government that has let our people die and wallow in filth. Today is the first day, of the rest of our lives." Sadiq snapped his fingers and two large men threw a man with a sack over his head in front of him, "you see now, the price that must be paid for a new Somali? Do you see now, why I do the things I do? It's to free us from the conventional enslavement and delusional idea that is western democracy." He removed the sack and grabbed the man from the back of the neck lifting him to face the camera, "meet your elected prime minister, muhammad zadir, a professional failure in all accounts. He promised us, economic growth and unity, but all he has done is allow us to suffer, and pay for his lifestyle." Sadiq then savagely threw zadir to the ground and stood from the chair putting his boot behind the head of the prime minister, "you see now? Zadir. It is over for you, for your family, for everything." Zadir moaned and tried screaming as Sadiq pushed the boot harder into the back of his head. "I invite all of Somali to join us, let this revolution create the country we've all wanted, let it create a better future, and more importantly." Sadiq snapped his fingers again and the two men grabbed zadir from the ground and pushed him against a wall, the camera panned over to him as Sadiq walked to him now holding a knife and putting it to the camera, "more importantly, let us get justice" he plunged the knife into zadir, "for the corruption, for the lies, and for every time someone died under their administration." He continued to stab the prime minister in a horrific manner, until zadir was good and dead, "let us go now my people...and take our country back." The feed died out, and all across Somalia war tore through the country. Armed militants raided army bases and took everything that was needed for an all out take over. Hell broke out in Somalia, and what few stood before it were being burned.

6. Transcaucasia Information Thread

This thread is for the general Transcaucasia information.           The Transcaucasian Soviet Socialist Republic (SSR)       Geography   The Transcaucasian SSR is located centrally in the Georgia region of the Caucus mountains, and has a capital in Tbilisi in the same region. It's land is mostly mountainous, though it has a small shoreline with the black sea, and is somewhat arable for subsistence farming as well. There are natural lakes, and rivers throughout the land, and the temperature and climate is generally temperate but the winters are harsh as well.   Government Agencies   The government is lead by the Communist Party of Transcaucasia, and it's head of state/government is President Yuri Andropov. The government has outlawed imperialist, or capitalist opposition parties and the unicameral legislature is the Supreme Soviet of People's Deputies. There are 100 seats. The dfense forces are called the Ground Forces, Air Forces, Coastal Forces and the Rocket Forces. There is also a secret police and intelligence force, the Committee for State's Security, or KGB. There are also various ministries, such as the Interior, Exterior, and Health ministries.   Economy   The economy of Transcaucasia is mostly industrial, with some farming and basic agricultural needs being met domestically. Factories produce iron, steel, rubber, chemicals and weapons as well as consumer goods and toys. Most high tech industries are limited to telecommunications and information technology. Much of the hardware for these is imported, as Transcaucasia lacks the necessary materials for such things. The unemployment rate is near 8%.

8. The Houston Chronicle

(OOC: I picked the Houston Chronicle because, after doing research, it would be the largest newspaper, or one of, in my nation even though I have never heard of it before in my life :P) Milton Luke Inaugurated, Begins Talks with Union Montgomery, Alabama- Today the inauguration ceremony of the second president of the Confederate States of America took place, marking a milestone in American history. What did President Luke address in his first speech as president? He addressed many issues facing the old nation, including the Union, the United States of America.   Milton Luke, President of the Confederate States as of 3 hours ago, spoke in his inaugural address about the issues facing the Confederacy, mainly of our relations with the United States, who hold our eastern border and is the only nation sharing an official border with the nation. The four Union states formerly Confederate states(Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, and Virginia) hold a strange place in the Confederacy. Although they are, in a sense, claimed by the C.S.A, we have no effective control over the states and they are thus disputed land similar to Missouri in 1861-1865.   Luke now has resorted to the White House(See above) where he is working diligently to solve all issues facing our nation. Rumor tells that a meeting with the Union has already been scheduled. The nation has put it's trust in our new president in hopes that he may be a victorious successor to President Jefferson Davis.
9. North & South

To: President Ashton Coolidge, United States of America From: President Milton Luke(OOC: Changing his name :P), Confederate States of America   Dear President Coolidge,   First, I would like to congratulate you on your presidency and the reformation of the United States of America. As the Confederacy had stated to you before, we would like to invite you to Montgomery, Alabama, the Capital of the States, to discuss many issues including the security of both our nations, our futures, and possibly the most pressing issue at hand: land.   Please do not misunderstand the States when we say we are interested in some of the southern land of yourselves. The nation believes that South Carolina, being the first state to secede in 1861 and practically starting the war, should be occupied by their Confederacy. At that point, it would only make since that Georgia be granted Confederate statehood.   Please, although this seems unacceptable or like a levity, we do not threaten you with any military force and much less plan to force you to commit such an action. I hope you will simply take the time to meet with us and do some traditional and worthwhile negotiation, to see what we two can work out.   See, the Union and the Confederacy can work together, if only we tried.   With Best Regards,   Milton Luke President of the Confederate States of America February 22, 1862; Deo Vindice
10. Confederate States of America

The wind blew hard on a cold winter day. The cold breeze whistled at the people gone to witness the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that was about to take place. For weeks, the south had been planning, plotting, and preparing. The reformation of the United States, although an unexpected turn of events, shook the plans of the region and had taken away some of their most valuable lands. Unfortunately, the last thing the south needed right now was another war on their hands, and it was hard enough that their were likely plenty of misinterpretations of this nation and what it is based on. Some people would likely not even care to recognize the legitimacy of the nation as a whole.     James Bonham, Jr. was medium size, for both height and weight. Seeing him in formal wear is just as likely as seeing a dog hate toys. Bonham would have a cowboy hat...and jeans. He had worked to establish governments all across the south, and now the final step was here. A government as similar to the United States' as the Confederacy's would be nearly impossible unless they simply copy/pasted it. However, a few changes were set in place. First, federalism would be written up. In other words, state's rights. It would be up to the states whether or not they wanted to trade with others, raise or lower taxes, export more, import more, etc. The one who helped write this constitution: James, or Jim, Bonham, Jr.     You could believe it or not, but this reincarnation was not about slavery. Slavery was not what brought this new nation to be: This nation is formed to establish representatives for the people of the region, and allow them many of the things the Confederacy originally fought for; which does not include slavery. The "Emancipation Proclamation" is practically copied and then pasted into the Confederate constitution, at this juncture.     "Congress, I welcome you to Montgomery. There is an important issue to be discussed," Bonham said, "We need to discuss borders with our neighbors."   Name: Confederate States of America Government: Federal republic Currency: Confederate Dollar Head of State: President
11. Arabian Oil, Saudi Acquisition

From the incredibly productive meeting in Tehran, Burhan al-Samara would not fly home. He had other meetings that needed attending, and other acquisitions to make before he was through this week. The flight to Riyadh would be longer than the first one, and as such, the festivities would be somewhat more mild, necessary to make them prolonged enough to get him there.   When he dismounted, he was still remarkably well groomed, which wouldn't be expected of a lesser man, but he was special. He smiled and waved to anyone who would be taking pictures, which the press always were, and waited for his car to be unloaded so he could drive to the palace of the Arabian Prince. When he arrived, he was no less enthusiastic than when he had gotten to the palace of the Persian royalty. An infectious smile on his face, he mounted the steps up to the grand doors. His appointment was very soon.
12. The region of Arabia had for a long time been in anarchy, as well as both political and economical dissolution. The region, now beginning a new era for both the region and it's population. The nation of Arabia had now been founded.   Jahanmehr Maswaa, an ambassador from Yemen, would finally get the opportunity to respond to the nation of Nippon, or Japan, in regards to there request for a diplomatic session. A new politician, new to not just the world of politics, but the world as a whole. Maswaa was actually only aged twenty seven years, and the desperate need for leaders in the new nation gave him the opportunity to enter the field as a high level in the government. Maswaa was not just ambassador, but he was also the provisional head of state in Yemen, the highest level of authority in one Arabian province. and, leading such a crucial part of the Arabian chain of supplies made him need to ask for advice from more seasoned men. This is why he invited a Saudi Arabian diplomat to join him in the diplomatic session.   To The nation of Japan From Jahanmehr Maswaa of Arabia's Yemen   I come to you in response to your diplomatic communique with a clear response to the request. That is that I wish for you to join me and my Saudi counterpart to a meeting in the Arabian capital of Kuwait City. I await a formal response and an on-time appearance in the previously stated location, and I am excited for an availing meeting to come.   Maswaa   Maswaa would make his way, by aircraft, to Kuwait City and leave his assistant, Ramyar Mana, in charge of Yemen. He would also await his Saudi counterparts arrival to the rendezvous point.
13. The Rise of the Union

The Global War on Terror in the early part of the 21st century wreaked havoc on an already unstable region. The northern states managed to avoid the eye of the United States as they continued to govern themselves. Afghanistan and Pakistan were not so lucky. The former combated the Taliban for two decades; with US involvement bringing a weak democracy after the Taliban government fell. In the time that followed, many nations held control over central Asia. This provided those governments with buffer regions and a cheap labor force of an already exploited population.   Central Asia began uniting. In their differences, they had one common element that bound them together: fear. Fear of more invasions and exploitation. The Soviets fought to steal Afghan resources. The Chinese sought to buy the rights to those same resources away from the native population.  Kazakh oil and natural gas was stolen by Russian corporations in the 21st century. Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan and Tajikistan were relatively ignored as other “more important” nations received aid, while their people suffered decades after the fall of the Soviet Union. History recently repeated itself with Cochin, the Dragon Empire and even Tianxia.   Central Asia had to come together, akin to their time in the Soviet Union when they helped form one of the strongest nations in the world. Over time, they began to integrate their infrastructure and defense posture. They developed a customs union, a currency and began integrating their economies. Their external voice became united, as did their militaries. Kazakhistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, Afghanistan and Pakistan would form a centralized government to handle these affairs, as well as developed a common and united internal policy. Culture would be able to flourish among the nearly 1,000 different tribal and ethnic groups that make up Azadistan.   After nearly 50 years under this centralized government, the leadership had fallen into the corrupt routine that makes up dictatorships. The institutions that had made Azadistan flourish were now falling apart. Inequality was rampant and the financial markets fell without a substantial recovery. Government reform was too little, too late, with much of it rolled back to suit the power brokers. The people were angry. They began rioting and fighting the government. A small civil war ensued against the established powers and the rising power of the people. The conflict ended with the Agreement of Täwelsizdik küni, which gave rise to the People’s Democratic Union of Azadistan and the Council of Ministers, led by Nursultan Nazarbayev.
14. Arabian Oil, Iranian Aquisition

Flights from Bahrain to Tehran were relatively common these days, considering the new Confederacy government. What wasn't common was private jets bearing at least one solid gold Bugatti and one massively powerful Oil Sheikh. It was a few hours of flying, so along with his ordinary flight crew and bodyguard, he'd brought a few of his wives. Good times were had aboard the flight to Tehran, though they were strictly confidential.   When the flight landed, Burhan al-Samara dismounted, his headdress pristine, his suit unequal in style, and his aviators scratchless. He knocked the ash off the end of his cigar and waited for his car to be unloaded before he visited the Prince of Persia.
His car arrived at the palace in no time at all. He had, of course, had the prudence to establish an appointment with the man beforehand. When he dismounted the vehicle so too did his two guards. It was going to be a good meeting.
15. Arabia

From this day forth the territories of Iraq, Kuwait, Yemen, Oman, Saudi Arabia and Iran band together as one to face the storm and to stand united.   We are Arabia     Head of state - Xerxes  Government: Confederacy  Currency: Fils Capital: Kuwait City   OOC: Nation will be operated by Greywall, Peter_Illyich, shave and haircut, supercheese, and Dillon1102
16. The Rist Confederation

The Rist Confederation was set up by ex-soldiers, mercenaries and other service and military personnel who found themselves without anywhere to call home. Some of these people had left voluntarily either fed up with their current status in their old homes or forced to go into a civilian life which didn't suit them. Others left for worse reasons from simple AWOL runners to murderers and other scum. The Rist Confederation didn't care where someone came from only that they obeyed the laws set down and could prove that they were useful to keep around.   The Confederation was run by a select group of five leaders formed together into what was called the Council. This Council was always maintained at a grand total of five members to ensure that when decisions were needed there would never be any hitches or hold ups due to even votes. Membership in the Council was indefinite with only death or retirement after twenty years being the way to leave. On the retirement or death of a current Council member a replacement would be randomly chosen from a list of successors who had put their names forward to be on the Council. The process was always random as to be fair on all potential applicants.   The population for the Rist Confederation was almost always on the flux as newcomers arrived and others left to find fame and fortune elsewhere. Of course being an open society, minus a few exceptions, meant a very fluid and vibrant market, both in, legal and illegal goods, from food, to clothing to weapons you could find almost anything you wanted in the Confederation. Only the most serious of articles were forbidden including but not limited to weapons of mass destruction, slaves, drugs and other such contraband. Anyone caught selling, buying or transporting such goods would face a very very long jail sentence and possibly even the death sentence.   The military might of the Confederation was made up of a volunteer military force combining an army, navy and air force. The soldiers being already from military backgrounds in most cases meant that they were well trained but were lacking in more advanced weaponry found in other nations as well as lacking the power projection of larger capital ships and aircraft. Still what was there was more than enough for defending the country and what they couldn't make they could buy on the market and what they couldn't buy they could always steal.   Knowing they couldn't ignore the larger world and the other nations on it the Council ensured that any other nation's leaders or ambassadors could visit the Confederation at any time and at least one member of the Council would always be willing to meet and talk with them at any time of day. To help facilitate this a diplomatic sector was constructed in the capital city to house embassies and living quarters for visiting and staying foreign diplomatic persons and any families. This sector was off limits to the usual public of the Confederation and was given the same high level of security as the Confederation's military bases and government buildings.
17. The Tiger and the Rising Sun

Following a particularly warm reception of well wishes from several nations, one of them being Japan, it was decided that the Empire would move to dispatch a letter to the Japanese nation. What the response would be, was unknown, but the invitation would be extended nonetheless.     A courier would hand deliver the message to the Japanese Foreign Ministry, after traveling from Pune to do so.
18. Crouching Dragon, Hidden Tiger

Following the invitation by Tianxia to open foreign relations with Maratha, it was decided that given the proximity of both nations, and the need for peaceful coexistence, Santaji would dispatch a diplomatic delegation to accept the invitation. Led by the Maratha monarch's trusted cousin, Vijay Bhonsle, the mission to Nanjing would depart Pune in the early hours of the morning for the flight to Nanjing. Appropriate flight plans would be filed with the proper authorities, in both nations, and much of the flight, for the diplomats, was spent sleeping, as most had been up late discussing the meeting in detail with members of the High Council.   It would be mid-morning when the flight made its approach to Nanjing, and the onboard passengers would be roused shortly before landing, affording them time to prepare, appearance wise, for the meeting with their counterparts.
19. Times of Joy and Saffron

With the announcement of the return of Marathi to the helm of power in the subcontinent, there was much work to be done in preparation for the coronation of Santaji to the throne. The move would effectively put the Marathi at the head of all governance, with representatives from throughout the Empire partaking to provide balance and equilibrium, such facets that would be needed when governing over such a wide array of regions and a large populace. Nevertheless, the Marathi had done so before, in a time when India was comparably populated, and they would do so again, with the same energy and prowess that their forefathers had before.   When the call to independence had come, word had spread like wildfire throughout the lands of the subcontinent, there was an aspiring clan again, one that would lead the state out of the perpetual status quo it had been in for so many years. It was a promising glimmer that had brought many out into the streets in many cities, some proclaiming that Shivaji had returned, had embodied himself in the young man that bore his ancestral name. Prayers were said for good fortune in the coming years, for peace and prosperity as all began to lift their chins to the whispers coming from the winds of change in their world.   Whilst many in the rest of the country celebrated and felt the air of jubilant fervor, these same feelings were much more subdued in the halls of the capital, where the heir apparent and his council were hard at work. Plans had to be made, policies had to be plotted and prioritized, much business had to be attended to, especially with the subcontinent being in a state of stagnation and self-perpetuating status-quo for so long. The men and women of the council would stay by the soon-to-be-crowned monarch late into the night over the first few nights after independence. They were faced with the daunting task of organizing and redeveloping the government and laying social policy that would shape the lives of over a billion people. So much had to be considered to be successful, but this was a reality that those who had taken up the call to leadership had considered before they even stepped out into the light.   Santaji's coming had been in the cards for a number of years, it had taken much to consolidate his base of support, but now that he had it, he decisively was to wield it. The bid for independence, to gather the peoples of the subcontinent together, had worked, and it was with a sense of pride and diligence that he and his cohorts set forth to the task of organizing the country that would proudly bore the names of his ancestors. Furthermore, emissaries would be quickly dispatched around the world to begin establishing the basis of the Marathi diplomatic network, which would also help in the facilitation of international trade, an important aspect of growth that would be sorely needed in the coming years for the relatively stagnant economy...
20. Sons of Shivaji

For too long, history has left us behind, the once proud subcontinent has shown little activity beyond the status quo for many years, history has been waiting to be written.   Let those books begin now, the Sons of Shivaji have returned, the claims of the past be the claims of our future. Let all in the subcontinent cast flowers in the streets, let all children taste the sweetness of future. It was our duty long ago to forge a nation state, a nation state that saw its share of victories and woe befall it, but let these notes of history be a lesson, not a disgrace. As Shivaji heroically and masterfully crafted the independence movement that would lay the foundations, the rock upon which our nation sits upon now. We have returned to lead once again, to let all in the subcontinent taste the sweetness of prosperity in fellowship, under the wise guidance of those who have proven themselves before.   This is our declaration of independence, this is our cry into the night of darkness and that of the status quo, a light shall be forged for all, we shall hold that light, and guide those who have fallen astray. We will return warm pride to the hearts and the minds, rekindle the flame of independence, stand on guard for those who cannot. The people of India now rise again in bliss as saffron banners shall fly true again, over Pune, over Delhi, over Mumbai, over Dhaka, let all celebrate the coming of prosperity and order.   The Maratha Empire rises again.   Santaji Bhonsle Heir Apparent to the Throne of the Marathas
21. The Kingdom of Antarctica - DOE

A frozen continent with very few people on it; at least that is what it appeared to be for the longest time. It had taken years since Tianxia ended its formal protection of the windswept white continent and over that time a monumental construction project continued. A project that had been going on for a very long time and involved millions of people. The cost of the endeavor was not imaginable, so high that many nation-states themselves could not fund such a endeavor. However, the combination of wealthy entrepreneurs and venture capitalists helped jump start this project. A people had lived underground for so long in sometimes awful conditions. But now they would have a formidable home and, for the first time, declare their existence to the world. The massive collapse of nations around the world resulted in so much instability that they hoped a new nation rising in an unsuspecting place would bring at least some joy to an almost anarchic world.    "Do you think this is how we will come out to the world - do you think this is how we want to come out to the world? What you have done could cost us our legitimacy, our privacy, and possibly even our sovereignty. It has been a very long time since we had to execute someone, over ten years. You understand why we are having this conversation Eli, right?" A man in rags had his wrists bound together in chains. He was shivering but trying to keep his arms still because blood from his arms had froze to the steel chain links. He hadn't been tortured, but trying to escape proved futile when chained in a prison cell. He ultimately had done it to himself. "My King, please. There have been others who have done worse then what I did. Thieves who steel millions from the public, people who take advantage of others. I'm sure there's been others that have wronged you? My King I couldn't resist, you must understand-"    The King stood from his thrown and shouted, "I MUST UNDERSTAND? IF THIS WOULD HAVE GOTTEN OUT YOU WOULD HAVE DAMNED ME, AND EVERYONE ELSE! THIS IS TREASON!" The man shuttered and looked away with fear. The King collected himself and sat back down on his thrown. The guards in the room could feel the tension lingering. "We are having this conversation," the King continued, "because I have been in your position before. I was sentenced to death before - though wrongly - and I truly thought I was going to die. I know how that feels." The man was waiting for the King to give some big revelation. "I hope that gives you comfort; guards, take him to the the end chamber." The King didn't give a big revelation.    "NOOO! NO! STOP! MERCY MERCY!!" The man kicked and screamed while two formally dressed guards hauled the man off to a chamber downstairs which led to a small hallway. The hallway left the palace underground and went about three-hundred feet away to an icy room the size of a neighborhood swimming pool. "PLEASE! PLEASE!" the man screamed. The guards didn't relent. They knew what he had done. Inside the room, which had walls and ceiling of ice, was a pool of water. It looked normal, but it wasn't. It was heated by geothermal activity farther below. Any hotter, and it most likely would boil. The mans screams were heard only for a little bit, and then they stopped. It was considered the best form of execution in the kingdom. Guns scared people who lived in the cities, the guillotine brought forth revolutionary ideas that the Kingdom could not afford, lethal injection would be nice but the chemicals were hard to get in that part of the world, and the electric-chair and gas chambers were not considered humane. It had been done this way for a long time, but that doesn't mean anyone liked it.   The King was still sitting on his thrown and read one of the morning papers for the capitol. It was more information about new construction projects around the capitol. After the Kingdom went public, they would begin above-ground building on the coast. That would surely be interesting, and costly. But hopefully it could bring in more food and fish. A tall woman only a few inches shorter than the King walked in with her hands folded behind her back. "Husband," she said as she took each step up to the thrown next to the King's. "Wife," he said likewise. "What do you think of the girl?" They sat at the same time. "Give her some time," said the Queen, "and we can help her out. She's still really shaken up. That man is a monster for taking advantage of a servant like that. She is only a servant but she is under our protection... Men can be so cruel. Did you....?" The king folded the paper and set it down on his lap. An eager servant approached the thrown and bowed respectfully before offering him tea. He grabbed a cup and smiled at the girl who silently offered some to the Queen and then walked away. "He is no more. He wont be a threat to the kingdom's girls, or our reputation. I still think it may have been more appropriate to jail him, but you felt pretty strong about this."    The Queen didn't want to admit it was her doing that resulted in a man's death. It was true, but she felt guilt sometimes. "He deserved to die, even though it ended our ten year record of life. We'll make a new record in eleven years, my King." The King sipped his tea again in silent agreement. The rest of that Sunday morning was peaceful. A few decisions needed to be made, but the King's cabinet was hard at work to keep the kingdom working smoothly and growing steadily. The King decided to take a stroll through one of the capitol exclaves. It was a large dome above the surface of Antarctica. It had the capability of being made transparent and keeping snow/ice off of it to allow sunlight in and sight to the outside world, but for reasons of secrecy it had not been activated for some time. The international community had better things to do than have its spy satellites scanning Antarctica for a white dome on a white land, but the King still didn't want to take any chances. Similar domes were around the continent, but the capitol's was the largest. There were also large underground facilities which the Royal Government was trying not to make more of, but instead focus on moving above ground. That was why they were, in part, making their existence public after being secretive for so long. Rather declare than be discovered.    Two guards followed behind the King at a safe distance, but there wasn't much if any threat from citizens in the capitol. "Your Majesty, good day to you!" one man shouted. The King waved back to him. Other civilians didn't block his path but waved and greeted him. "Make way for the king!" shouted a merchant who quickly moved his fruit cart from the King's path. he tossed the monarch an apple, and the King happily took a bite of the green wonder. "Thank you Stan! Have a good day!" The civilians were going about their Sunday afternoons. Most people were not working, but enjoying the "outside" which was really the interior controlled climate of the dome. The King enjoyed his last few minutes of peaceful security in a world no one else knew existed. He returned to the Royal Palace and got his family together. The Queen, Crown Prince, and the Princess were all together, waiting for their patriarch. He buttoned his suit and fashioned his sash which consisted of a royal blue and a lighter blue, and then two stripes of white.    "What do you think they'll think of us?" the Crown Prince asked his father while the television crew prepared the live introduction that would be broadcast worldwide, or at least as far north as their signals from the Antarctic could get - though it would surely reach South America, Africa, Australia, and southern Asia. "I just hope they don't judge us by our appearance. Some people tend to dislike others who are different from them. I'd say we are pretty different from them culturally, and physically to some extent." Oh I left that out, damn. They have blue hair - all of them. And pale skin that could probably be compared to Scandinavians. Living underground for so long, not just a lifetime but generations upon generations, left them a little different.    The lights flashed on, and the Royal Family stood still. King Mark Snow stood tall next to his family. The Queen held onto his arm as if he was going to escort her somewhere. "Good evening nations of the world, peoples of the world, and fellow leaders. I am King Mark Snow, sovereign of Antarctica. My people have been here for generations, upon generations. We've observed world wars, expeditions to our home, and the evolution of your people which helped inspire our own economically and through infrastructure. It has been a very long time, a very very long time, since we have had contact with the outside world, but I would like to extend a peaceful declaration of our existence, because it seems our presence has been forgotten, mostly due to our own ambition to remain in our own part of the world and left alone. Now that we are stable politically, culturally, and economically I thought it would be best to show you all that we are here, and we mean no harm. We are capable of defending ourselves, but have no ambitions on conquering foreign lands. We can feed ourselves, provide energy, and we have been doing so for a long time.    "I can understand how this may seem like a hoax or an unreal prank that someone is trying to pull. To prove our legitimacy, I ask the Empire of Tianxia to closely observe the sea outside of Sydney Harbor in Australia. A fully armed submarine will surface and shoot off a blue flair. I have ordered them to not make contact, but I hope that their presence can prove our existence one way or another. A small fleet of submarines will be off the coast of King George Island, next to the Antarctic Peninsula. If anyone would like to meet our sailors there with diplomats, I'd be happy to have them escorted to the capitol here in Antarctica to talk to me personally and answer any questions. I hope to hear from someone soon."    The camera shut off and the signal ended. The fleet stationed off the Antarctic coast now just waited for anyone to come. Anyone at all.
22. The Juneau Empire

Government Formed, President Elected   Juneau- The Republic of Alaska's government was formally elected last week, after early voting took place a month ago and official voting last week. Republican Sarah Thompson was elected to the office of President by winning over 70 percent of the vote, in a dominating victory over the Democratic party. Juneau will be the seat of the nation, and will hold most foreign embassies. President Sarah Thompson made her inaugural address yesterday, and discussed different bills, endorsements, and investments she thinks the nation would benefit from, most of which should make the Republican Party happy to have her as president.
23. Prologue / The Anvil of the Gods

...After the days of Martens the Silver and the when the world was swallowed by pestilence and plague, a world undreamed flickered into the minds and hearts of those without homes. Into this world stepped Vasryne, destined to wear the crowned diadem of Holy America upon a weary head. It is I, her chronicler who alone can tell thee of her saga. Let me tell you of the days of High Adventure!   ...Deep in the jungles of the Amazon rain forests, now grown with greater strength from the times when all plant life seemed wiped from the desolate landscape of South America, a single canoe paddled down the vast expanse of the river. The single rider wiped the sweat from her brow as her powerful hands steered the boat towards the sound of clanking metal in the distance. She smiled and pulled her black hair back from her eyes. Her body glistened in the sparse rays of moonlight that pierced through the great canopy of trees. In the darkness of the Amazon, wild beasts roared and howled with delight as they watched potential prey slip down the river. The woman gave the same low growl as a single pier came into her view with a single torch lit upon its rickety wood.   She let the canoe bob next to the pier before her boots hit hard upon the pier and took the torch in her hand. Another torch appeared from the underbrush as a man walked out.   "Exhor guide you, Tebinid, is it finished?"    "Come, see yourself, Vasryne, and admire my handiwork."   Vasryne followed the large man up through the jungle path to a single wooden shack. Inside, the shack had few comforts of home aside from a bed, a table, and one chair. Tebinid took her beyond his home, out to a clearing in the back where a great kiln stood in a cloud of smoke. An anvil of equal power sat near the kiln and upon it lay a great sword, glistening as Vasryne's body did on the river. She grinned and reached for the blade. An extension of herself.   Her hand touched the hilt and she screamed as the heat from the blade swept onto her skin. Such heat, such pain. But still she held on as if fashioning the blade to her hand. Tebinid looked on, his eyes shining with pride. Finally with a triumphant grunt, Vasryne lay the sword back onto the anvil and looked at her blistered hand, streams of blood and hot pus already snaked down across her palm. "Thank you, Tebinid, it could be made no better."   "It is Exhor's sword, fashioned from blood and iron, I could be no happier than to give it to such a worthy warrior." He reached to take her hand. "Come inside, let me bandage it for you."   "No," Vasryne pulled away, the blood already drying into a lines of twisted skin boiled on her hand. "It is His mark, it will heal or I will die."   "At least stay here for the night or are you hard pressed to continue your adventure?"   "I would have hoped to have you come with me. The Games of Manaus are in a week, and in a week, the tribes of the jungle will call me Chieftain and that is when I will need you more than anything, Tebinid. I have enemies and will have more enemies if I win at the Games. Please, make the trip with me."   The blacksmith chuckled and rested his strong hand on Vasryne's broad shoulder. "You sleep in my bed tonight. I will wander the forest and listen to the beasts. They will tell me."   "You already know what they will tell you, they will say, follow her to Manaus!"   "Yes, yes the will, but the way the utter it, the way the natural lights descend from the trees, will put my mind at ease."   Vasryne smiled and nodded, "Do not be long friend, I will look for you in the morning." Then she walked into the shack and fell upon the bed as her right palm continued to twist. Her tears came out hot. Exhor would decide if she should live the night.
24. Revival of a Nation

It was a cold day in the barren castle of Prague, as the king Wenceslaus walked out into the courtyard and directed his soldiers towards the main road ahead. Trucks began down the road and soldiers began marching as the men organized a parade down the road. Thousands of people lined the sides of the street and cheered as they recognized the existence of the King and his men. The people continued to cheer all the way from the first vehicles to the final soldiers.   The king stood up and spoke with much pride as he said, "Hello nation! I am proud to be called king of this new land, and hope that you all feel the same way. All hail his new nation."   Today, the new nation of Bohemia has risen into the world. The nation is excited to hopefully have friendly relations with all of the nations already out in the world. Hail Bohemia!
