1. An excellent flag! All criteria satisfied. (Remove the upper chevron artefact in the upper blue ribbon though)
2. Alpha Omega Flag: Simple, yet distinctive. I like it. It violates the rule of not having characters on a flag, but i think it's borderline case that is acceptable. But again, think of if you still can recognize the middle when the flag is shrinked to icon size. Swinland Flag: Simple, yet distinctive. Obvious link to scandinavian culture. The yellow is a bit too "fluorescent" imho, a darker tone would have been preferable. Yellow doesn't contrast well with white and for that reason is forbidden to be side-by-side in heraldry. The problem's attenuated by the fact that you have some darkgrey countour lines in-between, but i would make those even darker in increase their width. (what happens to the lines when shrinked? ;) )
3. It's simple yet distinctive. Thus a good flag. The width of the white bars and circles could be increased, to make it even more distinguishable when looked from far away, i.e. in small size. Otherwise the line widths will reach pixel dimension very soon when the flag is shrinked to small icon size.
4. Never mind, venerable Isaac, I'll excuse your impairment in ability to see by the fact that you have said something here 1515 times! *bows down in respect*
5.
Hows about this one?
Test it yourself: Scale the flag down to 5% if its current size. What do you still distinguish? Sorry, but FAIL!
6.
Hi, I'm a bit new to these forums (or, more rather, that I don't visit this place often), and I would just like to know if my semi-fictional Majapahit flag is a good enough flag: [...]
It's certainly not bad. Let's see... 1. Keep it simple. Passed! 2. Don't be random. Passed! 3. High contrast is good. Hmm, some issues here, see below. 4. NO LETTERING! Passed! 5. Be distinctive. Passed! 6. Be realistic. Passed! As you mentioned already, the black and red is not so good. Especially since the diagonal line elements (the spikes of the sun) conflict with the stripes. That makes it hard to distinguish and makes it feel crowded although from a symbolism point of view it is not. Putting the sun on a white circle background would probably help. Something like http://flag-designer.appspot.com/gwtflags/SvgFileService?d=6&c1=2&c2=1&c3=2&o=6&c4=1&s=3&c5=0
7.
The first flag us just too busy. It has to much on it. Tone it down a bit and it will look good. My fav is the third flag.
The third one is great. But i guess that's the one James found on the Internet? It's the flag of Toulouse, (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Flag_of_Midi-Pyr%C3%A9n%C3%A9es.svg), a major city of France. It's never good practice to choose an exiting real life flag for a fictitious entity.
8. Hi there. I came by here by chance. Thought you folks might be interested in my little Flag Designer web app: http://flag-designer.appspot.com/ (Needs recent browser, IE9, FF4 or Chrome to support inline-SVG)
