1. I only fight wars in defense. I supported the ultimatum for bolivia to get rid of it's nukes. In fact OOCly and ICly my move to support the UN at that point forced Aggron to submit, since he was relying on support from the SAO to back him up. It was a long process to get Bolivia to be a UN mandate, then you decided to annex it. Honestly I'm surprised you got away with that, though I haven't kept up with the UN thread I don't think you were ever given permission by them to do it. Then you claimed a part of my protectorate, moving troops out of the blue with no warning whatsoever. How was I supposed to respond to that? Just let you go? That would just show that the Republica is weak, which the Chancellor would not allow. I specifically refrained from attacking you so we could work it out. If you actually talked to my nation and asked for it even then we would've given it to you. You guys kept pushing and pushing for war, and my characters would not allow for any position that would make the Republica weaker. So yes it was inevitable. That was in reference to Triyuns post after I went inactive for exams, where he did all those things, not just to the protectorate, but to the Republica itself. In the eyes of the Chancellor that's a declaration of war.
2. I said I was avoiding doing this, that doesn't mean I haven't been doing other things, Christmas and Christmas Eve I was busy, On the 27th I got a new computer which took me three days to get up and running, on the 28th I was at a friends birthday, on the 29th I had a hangover >.>, today I am responding, Tomorrow I have new years plans, New years I will be nursing a hangover, The next day I plan on posting, and on Friday I will be going on a ski trip. It may take you twenty minutes to make a war post, it takes me much longer. I've spent an hour already just coming up with the response I posted in the other thread, it'll take my much longer to go through and respond to Triyuns actual war post. And that's only after we get all the OOC out of the way, which hopefully will be resolved today.
3. I agree that it's very effective and a well practiced strategy in real life, but it's not fun in this game that we're playing to have fun. It's fine, I never went into this war expecting to win. As soon as you started screwing with South America I was sure that a war with you was inevitable. I just wanted to be able to fight back enough that it wasn't a complete route like it's going to be otherwise. Can you really blame me for that? It's not like asked for this, you kinda just waltzed in and made it happen. I wanted to negotiate with you as an equal and I was hoping that with the UN in place I might be able to force you to do it on reasonable terms. I was perfectly willing to give you whatever you wanted short of my nation and the claims I was adding. But whatever. Here we are now. I could have sworn I wrote that I had those Air superiority aircraft making patrols over my nation. However I can't find where I said that either. They aren't defending specific points, well aside from the one's at Buenos Aires, the other four are anywhere along the Brazilian coastline from right along the coast to 2,000 Km out. That's a pretty wide area to search, even with your network. You were trying to put a no fly zone on my country, you blockaded my nation, and you attempted dropping troops into territory my country considers it's own territory. I may have been the first one to say war but you had already attacked me by making those actions. Movements into Amazonia So at the least there would be 40k troops in there already, I moved another 50k troops in the general area of the border between Bolivia and The Republica, which would include the area's of Amazonia I annexed. TBM is not even in SA anymore, in fact he gave me his territory when he left, and after I became Interim head I started moving troops into the protectorates. You haven't done anything to counter those movements which are months old, so I think it's safe to say that I control those territories for now.
4. Sorry about the general inactivity, if I'm being completely honest its partly because I've been avoiding this cause its not fun to me (and that bit of OOC I posted was to make it at least bearable, which it doesn't look like triyun will agree too). However I have been busy with holiday things as well. As for when I can properly respond it might be a while. I have plans on new years and I'm leaving for a ski trip on the 3rd. If I can fit in a reply today or on the second I will try. To Triyun, sorry for the joke at the beginning of the thread, I wrote it with the intention of it being a lighthearted quip. To Rota, please stop muddying up my thread.
5. Well it's inevitable with every war with triyun. Nobody but he knows how his !@#$ works so here's the thread where I attempt to get him to explain it (this is supposed to be funny, laugh). Warning: Walls upon walls of text are bound to happen. On a more serious note: Triyun if you can't follow my OOC guideline for warfare then I can't war you. I specifically put that there not to give myself an advantage over you, but to give me a chance. I don't have nearly as much time or want to get as deep into designing weapons and warfare capabilities as you do. I realize that does complicate things when it gets down to the nitty gritty details of war where counters to technologies and such matter in the GM court, but as I said in that bit of OOC in my development thread since you have a much higher tech than me and a lot more development I will give your stuff a one on one advantage over mine. This does not however make tactics and your technobabble advantages completely inert, it just helps me a bit when I can engineer a scenario where your units are outnumbered by mine, which in this situation unless you can move a lot more units to SA very quickly they would be. (Note when I say this I have no idea the exact numbers of your units you have here already, so I could be wrong) As for the RP of troops moving into those northern territories, I've had troops in the SAO protectorate there since Amazonia fell. This includes Peru, Venezuela etc, The only place I didn't have troops yet was Argentina, which I will admit was a tactical oversight on my part. I also claimed a large portion of that place as my own sovereign territory and have been operating ICly as it my own territory for a while. Earlier in this thread I said I moved troops to the Bolivian border of my country, which would include the parts of the country that ICly the IR considers ours. Since we not only already had protectorate troops there, but then reinforced them later once we integrated into Republica proper, I would say that while on the map its disputed, I still have a sizable force there, much more than what you had. Exact numbers can come at request. I have RPed development of a satellite network, but nothing specific beyond information gathering and communications. I wouldn't even begin to know how to use them really, most of my knowledge of military doesn't involve satellite networks really. I'd love to learn. You obviously know more than I do. However in this situation complete disabling of my satellite network seems... over zealous. I wouldn't know that attempts to "stealth" satellites in the past have failed so I give you that, but even then I still rped generic defenses against attacks against them(even though at the time I only anticipated direct attacks against them whoops). Not only that but my network's missile defenses wouldn't all be clustered in the same area as the way you wrote it made it sound. Following my guidelines in my OOC thing you can expect satellite capabilities of a first world nation in the 2020s, nothing more nothing less. I suggest the compromise that I would only detect some of the incoming ICBMs, and that a portion of your attack would be successful. Again if you can't follow that then I can't war you. We can have GM compromise this for us if that makes you more comfortable. I have not the knowledge nor the RPed capability to even scratch you otherwise, as you duly RPed for me in your post *cough cough* (this is a reference to the parts where you said all your stuff was impossible to detect/defeat implying that I shouldn't even bother responding since you've already said I can't defeat them >.>) I specifically RPed that I already had patrols flying at all times over my own nation to thwart this. As you just tried to enact a no fly zone over my nation, not Argentina, your post would need to be adjusted to account for the fighters that would already be in the air. Also I would appreciate you acknowledging that my previous post was a placeholder for a larger response to your movements after I learned what your acronyms meant, but its fine, I probably shouldn't have even given you the placeholder response. The carrier groups around Buenos Aires are more vulnerable, as they would technically be under the no fly zone you enacted. However again following my OOC guideline for war you can expect them to have the same defensive capabilities of a First world nation in 2020. Also the Battle Group itself has been designed to protect the carriers at all costs. The missile attacks are kind of ridiculous. As another part of war I don't know much about beside firing them, I can't think of a way to completely stop them. I would again suggest that my missile defenses are only partially sucessful, perhaps even less so since I can't even think of a reason why they'd stop them, at thwarting those attacks. As for the Carrier Groups defending the mainland coast, how did you know exactly where they are? I never said they were in port, they are moving all along the coast in patrols. I do have a fairly long coastal detection range though. It'd be hard I think for you to get ships in range of my cost as it is right now. I think I might've missed where you said those bombers were coming from though so feel free to correct me on this. This sounds like something I'd write. You explained how you've thwarted all my other stuff extremely well, yet here you simply said it fry's even the most hardened electronics. If your weapon can simply defeat all the things its designed to defeat what hope do I/any of us have of beating it? On a side note I don't feel like getting angry over this. Please keep replies as least troll-y as possible. Second side note: Please just create a table of acronyms and their translations here. We can sticky this thread and just have it available for us newbs who don't know crap.
6. "We are sorry for the delay in communications. However despite our efforts against it you've just declared war on us through your last actions of attempting to enforce a no fly zone and bloackade, as well as landing troops in Republica proper territory. We wish it didn't come to this, but your unreasonable demands and continuous encroachments into the Republica's sovereignty have forced us too this point. We hope you enjoy your war Tianxia." Seeing as the Republica annexed most of the former Amazonia territory and had troops already deployed all across northern South America, Imperial Airborne troops would fall into the teeth of the Republica forces waiting for them there. AA assets would shoot down the aircraft transporting them and any escorts that came with them. In Buenos Aires Marine transports would have to get past two of the Republicas full Aircraft carrier groups if they wanted to land. Lastly A2AD units would now be ready to enact a blockade from offshore of La Republica. OOC: before I respond to this I'm going to have to ask that you explain what everything in here is doing in detail because I have no clue what any of those acronyms mean. In the mean time here's a kind of placeholder so you get the general idea of what you walked into. Republica intelligence assets would continue gathering intelligence on Tianxian and Dai Tohoku forces. The attempted air restriction would be met by the Republica's AADN and the already launched and patrolling Air superiority assets. The attempted blockade would be met by the Republica's shore batteries as well as the four Aircraft Carrier groups that remained around Republica's shores to defend it. bleh.
7. I'm tempted to drag out the disputation of South America until past christmas given the festive colors we've created there.
8. Extend the lock to the 18th. One exam got moved :/
9. Honestly the whole situation came from a lack of OOC communication. I'll allow for strategic withholding of information like triyuns desire to take the whole continent, but triyun wouldn't talk to me at all. I messaged him several times on IRC, and he only ever replied once telling me that he was busy. Understandable, but then I messaged him on the forums which he never replied to. I had to talk to Eva to move the deal along. If triyun had communicated with me I probably wouldn't have done what I did. I was perfectly willing to work out a deal with him. Like splitting the continent or incorporating him into the SAO. But he never talked to me so it didn't happen. He still hasn't talked to me. Now my biggest complaint about the current situation is how retarded Tianxia is being diplomatically and how he's just going to be able to get away with it. I know he can get away with whatever he wants. Doesn't mean he should. Also hindsight is 20/20 of course. If I had known this would happen I would've moved troops into Argentina before dissolving the SAO.
10. I thought the other post in the GM thread was the OOC thread. My bad.
11. I can't help but reread these and laugh considering the current situation.
12. OOC: Exams, I'll pick this up when I'm done with them.
13. With exams coming up I don't want to have to worry about this, so please lock my nation until the 15th.
14. The Republica never instigated conflict. All offensive moves have been on the parts of the Dai Tohoku and Tianxia, and to suggest that we caused this crisis is ridiculous, and quite frankly insulting considering the amount of concessions we've been willing to make for the sake of peace. Of course this is our territory. I have yet to hear a solid argument as to why it should be your territory, when the only thing you've done is try to take it from us. We ask for mediation because all attempts at diplomacy by us have been met by stalwart refusal to even acknowledge that the Republica has wants in this too. You are asking us to give up everything we've worked for simply because you disagree with us and aren't even willing to give us anything. How can we expect to talk with you when you wont listen? A mediator would force you to listen, despite your ego's.
