2. No, but at the same time there's not much love for Polaris in STA to say the least. And this war really didn't improve my opinion of IRON either. Or GOD. Or Fark. On the flip side, I despise NPO, NSO, and NG so not like I like the other "coalition" either. Actually, let's just go with I hate you all. That's easier.
3. The feeling is mutual Irwin; I had never heard of your alliance before either but you guys put up a really good fight. I meant it when I said that the coordination that you and my two other opponents pulled off was a case study in proper military tactics. For me personally, my TTK opponents ended up being my toughest by far. Once my citizens rid my streets of mutant zombies and rebuild a bar, drinks are on me :)
4. If you interpreted anything I said as asking you for an apology then I must've worded it poorly. I disagree vehemently that we abandoned you (if we were going to abandon you my friend, we would've done it far earlier) but the point is that NpO does not view itself as having any sort of obligation to STA, technical or honor bound. That is fine and you are more than entitled to feel that way. It's just not what I thought you guys felt. My bad. And indeed you had other alliances that stood by you and who are allied to you now. You should stand by and protect them. Of course, we aren't threatening them at all. The only way your assertion of obligation even makes sense is if you view everything in a light of coalitions. It's obvious from this post that you do indeed think in those purely pragmatic terms, in which case STA is indeed a threat to you. Which again, you're free to think and act like this. It's just not how STA rolls and we merely wanted to let the world know that we think this four alliance oA chain is ridiculous, deplorable, and dishonorable. If your honor tells you that to protect your allies you need to four oA chain onto us despite us not threatening your allies, then so be it. We're not complaining. As it was an honor and privilege to burn for you, so it is for TPF. We knew exactly what our commitment would mean should they ever need our assistance through our treaty. So lest you think I'm somehow angry, whining, etc: not at all. This is how we roll, and it's nice to be back into a familiar position.
5. Rest assured that I have no fantasy that Polaris could unilaterally veto it, but it was my understanding that they did not even try very hard to stop it. Whether they could stop it or not being my issue. But again, I've already admitted that it's my fault for viewing them in such a way. To that end, consider it a moot point.
6. I don't "blame" Polaris. I blame myself for ascribing a certain viewpoint to an alliance that clearly was not their view. As I said before, there is nothing wrong with viewing things through a coalition lens where everything is done for the benefit or detriment of the coalition, allies and friends be damned. That is not how STA works, but if that's how you guys roll with pragmatism overruling everything else then so be it. You're free to live by your own ideals, or lack thereof.
7. I don't think we believe that Polaris was plotting against STA actively. I think our disappointment is more along the lines that Polaris didn't do anything to stop the oA chain from happening. As I stated before, Polaris has absolutely no technical obligation to STA and thus what you're doing is superficially fine. But there's a deeper history between our alliances. When Polaris was the pariah of the world, we stuck by you. When you were getting beaten in the noCB war, we declared on every alliance at war with you. Through multiple times in our history we risked total destruction to stand by you. We bleed with you, we fought for you, we suffer alongside you. We cancelled our treaty with you after that due to communication issues, but never once did we regret fighting for you. It was a privilege and honor to fight in the defense of an ally when the whole world hates you. As an aside, that's a commitment your new friend TOP will never give you. After that kind of commitment, I would hope that your honor would bind you to perhaps not actively defend us but to at least prevent ridiculous oA chains from being formed against your old blood brother. I again hesitate to call it a debt or that you owe us, but more akin to a feeling of profound honor. You have no literal obligation to us. And for that you can wash your hands clean of what has transpired. The fact that you are able to do so though saddens me deeply because it means that I completely misunderstood the psyche of your alliance. And for that I have no one to blame but myself.
8. The irony of course being that your coalition is not really doing much to take down our "upper tier" (I really don't think we have much of one, but maybe I just instinctively think Umbrella when someone says top tier and can't imagine comparing us to them). Unless of course IRON will be taking its top tier out of peace mode soon. Then it really gets fun. I disagree that the only option for your coalition was to let NADC burn, but I'll punt that and address an even more fundamental point: you should indeed do what's right and just, regardless of if it wins you wars. At least, that's how STA thinks. And maybe we're wrong, maybe pragmatism should be how politics is played. But it's just so alien to us to think in that matter that it's hard for us to sometimes appreciate that others sincerely believe that. If you guys do sincerely believe in pragmatism over honor, then that's fine. It's not how we roll but okay. But we'll definitely point out that it's ridiculous and not really honorable. STA will do what we think is right. If it means we burn for allies for the bazillionth time, then so be it. I haven't dined in hell in a while anyway.
9. You are literally correct that Polar has no obligation to STA. It's just disheartening to see that after we took so many beatings for you through the years through a treaty that was clearly one sided in terms of benefit that you wouldn't do anything to assist us. I hesitate to call it that you owe us, but more akin to having enough respect for what we did for you to at least use pressure to prevent something like this from happening. Again, you're part of a coalition that's trying to destroy us so you do not have any actual obligations to us. I personally just thought your honor would transcend not having a literal obligation to at least try and repay what we did for you through preventing massive oA chains. Oh well. I'm not angry though. I want to reiterate that you have no technical obligations to us. If anything, it is my (and STA's fault) for feeling this way.
10. Indeed, I think we all relish doing what we usually do: dishing out as much damage as possible while freely acknowledging that we're on the losing side of the war. If some of our criticisms come off as whining then that's due to poor diction, not actual whining. We're just saddened that alliances we used to hold in high regard would go through ridiculous oA chains like this. Especially Fark, an alliance that I held in very high esteem. I've always thought that IRON was a terrible alliance though so I won't criticize you guys for doing this. That's just expected.
11. Welcome to the war. Why don't you bring your top tier out? I think some others would like to play with them.
12.
STA, clearly. They have MDoAPs with NPO and TPF and sat the entire war on the VE front out, not offering one bit of aid or support. They didn't even have the distraction of a pending merger as an valid excuse.
We had an alliance wide vote and voted to be terrible allies and not offer any aid or support to TPF because we're terrible people and always try and hide to protect our pixels. Just look at our past history and all the curbstomps we've avoided out of cowardice. ... or maybe TPF didn't need help because VE was being crushed and thus no assistance was needed. Nah, couldn't be that.
13.
72 days! Excellent. We've been working pretty hard over here, so yay STA!
brb, going rogue to screw up our gaining streak
14. My only regret is that we couldn't keep fighting longer, but there comes a time when the physical ability to wage war is exhausted. My total stats for this war because I like to show off: Times You have been Nuked: 58 Times You have Nuked an Opponent: 64 Nukes Your SDI Blocked: 93 Nukes Opponents SDI's have Blocked: 83 That's a *lot* of nukes. And I never saw a single day of peace mode, heh. Thanks for the fight guys. Till next time.
