I've also thought about splitting the timeline into seperate categories, like major historic events such as the invention of FTL, discovery of a race by something.

[b]Immigration Blesses Nova Saturn[/b] Hearing of the planetary government's lax social laws and easy taxes, galactic denizens of many planets, including a human-like species called the [i]Arobaci[/i] have begun immigrating to Nova Saturn, putting the planet on the map for one of the first Interstellar Trade Routes. The planet's population is expected to double in five years time. Spacers and transport Shippers have been landing at the planet's main trading hub, Mt. Nomad. The extinct volcano was just fifty kilometers south of what the Saturnians called the "Hospitable Line", which was a collection of mountain ranges and rivers that separated the grass and forests from the desert sands that covered a good 60% of the planet. The actual city of Mt. Nomad was built into the mountain, with the volcanic crater serving as a hangar bay. The upper levels were generally very nice and safe, but most visitors to the planet visited the almost lawless underlevels of the mountain city. With the activities of the underlevels, along with how the planet looked as an inhospitable desert planet, most visitors and newcomers had a nickname for Nova Saturn and her government: [i]Distopya[/i].
