**Public News**
The government of The Republic of Mozambique has released plans for educational reform. They plan to build schools, libraries, and other educational facilities in areas where they are needed. These areas include places where local schools are overcrowded, or largely populated places where there is a lack of educational facilities. They also intend to eventually make education free; and once it is it will become mandatory for all citizens in the age group of 5-16. (Note*: Mandatory education does not have to take place in a public facility, but may happen at home). After the age of 16, a student may choose to leave school or to pursue higher education. Teachers will receive a pay raise based on student performance. This is to encourage teachers to try hard. Teachers whose students do badly will be accompanied by an observer to see whether it was the teachers abilities or the students will that caused the results. If it was the teachers ability, they will be fired; however if it was the lack of will by the students to learn they will not be punished. Educational programs such as tutoring courses will also be installed to help those struggling in school. The government hopes to improve enrollment in school and overall grades. In turn this will create jobs and prepare the next generation for them. The project will be expensive and may take months to fully incorporate.

The government has announced a transition in currency: from the current New Metical ($1~29 Meticals) to the (formerly) Botswana Pula ($1~6.5 P(P is the currency symbol for the Pula)). Both Meticals and Pulas can be used for the next six (6) months, after which Meticals will not be accepted. Meticals will be exchangeable at banks for the next three (3) years. The government will not produce any more Meticals, instead only producing Pulas.

Full government election results are expected to be released withing the next couple weeks (OOC: Later today).

This week, The Republic of Mozambique and South Africa have begun a joint-military exercise. This exercise is expected to take place near the former border of Botswana and Namibia. (Now the western border of the Republic and South Africa). The exercise is expected take place there because it is one of the least densely populated areas in the region. The two countries, who recently signed a Mutual Defense Pact, hope to improve military relations and tactics, as well as overall troop performance, during the exercise. It is the latest evidence of the growing relations between the two South African nations, who are trying to improve regional security and economies.

Recently, a bomb went off in a public market in downtown Beria. Terrorist activity has been on the rise ever since it was announced that the former leader of Os Soldados de Liberdade, Obed Mujanidad, had received a life sentence for his actions as an insurgent. Os Soldados de Liberdade claims responsibility for the bombing, and has been trying to have Obed released. Seven people were killed in the blast (including the bomber), along with twelve injured. Police found a second bomb tied to the bottom of a car nearby, but a bomb squad was able to diffuse it before it went off.

The currency transition from the Metical to the Pula has been completed. From now on, the Pula will be the official currency of the Republic of Mozambique. However, the Metical, as well as other currencies may still be used in local transactions at the discretion of the seller.

The recent education reforms have so far been a success, with several schools and libraries, as well as a community center, already built. More buildings are also expected to be constructed. So far, school attendance and grades have risen. Also, many jobs have been created with the open teaching positions.

Mass production of military vehicles begins. Conscription of all men ages 18-25 begins. Women are allowed to volunteer for service, however are not required to serve. Troop level expected to near or exceed 500,000 in a little more than a month. The main military firearm, the AK-47, is being upgraded to the AKM. AKMs will be built and distributed to many troops, however the AK-47 will still also be used. The government has not released the official reasoning, however it is assumed this is because of the renewed imperialist stance by Britain, the union of Russia and China, and deteriorating relations between their bordering neighbors. A defensive perimeter will be set up along the Republic/Confederacy border in case of aggressive actions by the Confederacy. The government does not expect an attack, however they are not sure where the Confederacy's MDAP with the Grecian Empire will lead them.

With the addition of the northern half of Mozambique into the republic, celebrations are held around the country. The government has declared this day as a national holiday. These celebrations are expected to last throughout the week.
The recent educational reform is being implemented into the newly acquired area.
Also, the official flag of the Republic of Mozambique has been changed to the original flag of Mozambique to further show the symbolic meaning of this event.
The government would like to thank the Confederacy, and wishes them luck with their new territory in Madagascar.
