Gabryal
OK so Emperor Stranger took less than a round to bore me completely so I'm now asking people to be my new Arch Nemesis. Please leave a detailed reason why you want the job, and why you deserve it.

Thank you

Gabe.

Tibs, you can't apply as I actually respect your posting/martial skills if not the way you went about using them. I am looking for a forum Arch Nemisis.
Auctor
Some of us have a perfect ability to hate ppl without having to have them apply for it.

In this treaty and conglomerate agreement that defines the borders between realism and unrealism and sets the stage for a new world order, I Lysander, King of Thebes, hereby pledge my undying nemesises to Gabryal the lesser. In accordance with this act we will begin this new era of bantering with well thought out unhelpful critiscism and if you have not grown weary of the incessant legalise speaking that I am using to further this treaty of mutual rivalry I would like to propose this as a new standard for the relationships between TPF and RE. In addition to this I will add my first IC character attack of Gabryal who thinks he is raised to the importance of someone who, if they do not post, then the thread shall never be complete and all will weep at the unimportance of it.

Edit: Oh and I can't believe you actually put this here. Thats worse than PIE's DoW

Not really Tibs, on OWF you and I in the past made great tag team arguements together, and in recent history have made great slices at each other. I'm looking more for a person who can be interesting in a easy to make fun of way, like ES only not as boring to me anymore.

As you get older you start realizing that grudges take up way to much energy, people kinda end up falling into three categories, worth responding to, worth ignoring, and worth killing.

That last category is something that most people rarely get to, but most people will admit it exists on some extreme level of their consciences.

Also before it is said again that I'm take a swipe at your age, I'm not, I'm just commenting on grudges in general. If you have the energy to hold a grudge that's fine. I don't. I could of easily called this thread "Looking for a new Playmate" and the meaning would be exactly the same.

PS: ooc: Clash who was that woman who I ended up raising so much hell with on Skyline? You know the one that kept calling me a woman hater? :coo

So were you just playing that entire time, or were you actually holding a grudge? It's exciting hearing that you didn't "actually" hate me as much as just wanted someone to play around with. lol1.gif

I think I may have said I don't hate you before ES, if I didn't before now I will now.

I don't hate you, hell you stand up to me, I like that.

I don't even hate Tibs, though from a purely personal ( please note the word personal ) moral initiative I'll seek his utter destruction, or at least as close to that proximity as I can in CN:TE

It's a game, hell it's always been a game. These forums are just as much part of the game as the pixel deaths and nuclear weapons. It's just one more aspect that can be used to play the game.

None of anything on these forums is real, it's all posted for reasons relating to a game, so how could it possibly relate to real life? My only beef with you ever is right now when I felt you got predictable on me. This post I'm quoting may reveal you haven't yet, you picked up what I was doing faster than anyone else.

You're more than welcome, just a simple truth my dear.

I'm an old fashioned chauvinist I guess, I still hold open doors, pull chairs out, and usually carry them over mud puddles. It takes someone getting angry at me for being all those things that I can ever really get angry with a woman.

I know that's unequal treatment, but in my case I think that the woman get's the better end of the deal wink.gif

If your definition of a feminist is that no one should be judged by their gender, that equal work = equal pay, and that a woman's place is anywhere she wants to be then I would agree with you 100%

My problem is more with neo-feminists: the one that tell women what they can't do. They "You can't do that or you're betraying the sisterhood!" or something like that. Freedom of Choice is just that, freedom of choice, and if someone is happy being a housewife or a stay at home mom if it is by their choose and not some bully of a pig pretending to be a man trying to force her to do it ( death sentence in my book), then who's to question their choice? I always believed I was a "true" feminist in that I respected every woman's choice to be whatever she wants, and to rise as high as her abilities take her.

ooc: The person I referred to before argued that because I believed in the freedom of a woman to do just exactly what she chose made me an anti-feminist, and that certain aspects of my personal lifestyle ( that I will not discuss here for the fear of being drowned down by bigots ) made me even more so. I can't remember her name but Clash was there back in the Skyline days backing me up, like he always has. In case anyone doesn't know, I consider Clash family, the older brother I always wanted and never got. He's the one person that when I was really at my worst state ( aside from my lovely blushing red head of a wife.. who also I might mention is Clash's ex GF from many years ago ) he was there for me. Out of all my friends he was the only one, so that tells you some of the love I have for the man, he might smack me around some, that's a big brothers privelege, and we might disagree, which results in said smacking around. I just can't remember her name, all I know is that she made this huge long post about leaving the forums we were on "for ever" and then was back a week later. Anyway long irrelevant story, my pain killers are really kicking in, I'll blame them as usual wink.gif ooc:

Then yep I completely support your beliefs smile.gif

I'm of the personal perception that it is all a huge genetic joke on us anyway, on a species level men are less important than women to maintaining a population dominant enough to continue existence, 90% of males die in some freak accident, society takes a few generations to recover, if that. Reverse it and our species is pretty well doomed.

So, men are hardwired to know that from the point of view of the species, we are inferior, and for a couple hundred years there some societies ( I won't say most until the late dark ages/proto middle ages in Europe ) men responded with a typical inferiority response, namely as a whole we have bigger muscles so we will make the women do what we want.

In the history of our species it was a relatively short time, hell it scared the Romans so bad to have to fight nude female warriors amongst the Celts and Germans that they lost nearly every military confrontation with them up until Julius Caesar actually put some backbone into his personal legions and defeated the Celts of Gaul, even then Rome never did quite manage to conquer all of Brittania ( Even below Hadrians wall ) and never did try to extend their empire past the Danube into north east Europe ( Except the Battle of Tuetomborg forest perhaps the largest defeat in Roman history in terms of standards lost )

Long answer, but yea that's my explanation anyway. Though I tend to be a more "There are my people" and "There are other people" and only my people really matter, whoever they are. The other people can just do their own thing until the get into a problem with my people, in which case they have to deal with me.

I suppose Genetically that makes me pretty male.

Personally I think Carrhae was almost as much of a failure for the Romans as Teutoburg; not to mention it so fundamentally shifted the balance of power in Rome (with Crassus's death) that it can be considered one of the tipping points that made the First Civil War inevitable.

Recently, The Guild of Calamitous Intent has taken notice of certain questionable events occurring within this venue (hereby referred to as "The Thread"). As the contents of The Thread undeniably present a party (hereby referred to as "The Nemesis") seeking a suitable Arch, The Guild would like to take a moment to courteously remind The Nemesis that there is no substitute for a qualified Guild professional. Furthermore, The Guild orders the following:

1a) The Nemesis must cease inciting improper behavior.

1b) In the future, The Nemesis must direct any further applications for an Arch through proper channels.

2) All parties taking advantage of The Thread to practice Costumed Aggression or Arching without a license must cease and desist, until such time as they have acquired an Arching License from The Guild, along with the approval of the Council of Thirteen and The Sovereign.

Once these terms have been met, all parties are free to resume their search for a suitable Nemesis/Arch relationship.

Thank you for selecting The Guild of Calamitous Intent.

Should have been more specific and said Imperial Rome, though Hannibal was brilliant, then there was the amazing defeat the suffered when so idiot of a general who's name I can't remember marched them all out into the desert to be shot at for three days by horse archers then wondered why lost.

You're thinking of either Mark Antony or Crassus. Both of them did that. In fact, almost every Roman general who invaded Parthia did that, with the exception of Trajan, who had half a brain.

The Romans were also so brilliant as to think they DIDN'T NEED REGULAR CAVALRY! which explains why they never got much into Scythia or Parthia. And if they did, they didn't hold it long.
(Fyi, I think any defensive nation should just have stuck with horse archers and supporting heavy cavalry. That combination is virtually unbeatable against a heavily infantry based system)

Not true. The Parthians had the benefit of living in a desert/steppe environment, meaning that their horse archers had complete maneuverability against heavy infantry. However, that type of military only works in that environment. It would never work in the forests and hills of Europe- they'd get slaughtered on the defensive and offensive. It also makes it almost impossible to defend against a siege, which explains why the Romans managed to take 95% of the Parthian cities they besieged.

True, although I think the same tactic of hit and run, with bows or javelins can be used without horses. What good is a city you hold when your in the middle of a desert with little water and running out of food and you can't get to the next source of food/water because once you start off your harassed by cavalry archers. Although the Roman tactics worked very well, the only reason they did was because no one else fought in such an organized manner. If say...the Celts had fought like that they would have crushed the Romans. Because the typical Roman was weaker than the typical barbarian

Yes but you miss the fact that the very act of organizing in such a way would have destroyed the Celtic emphasis on individual bravery that made them such fierce individual fighters. Instead, they would have formed organized armies that still would have been slaughtered by the Romans because of the much greater technology available to Rome.

Good point. All i can say is....Romans got fat and lazy and ended up losing much of what their ancestors conquered. Look at America today. We are Nova Romanus. And I am pretty sure we are going to go down hill in eeh, the next hundred years or so. Till we get an evil dictator, then, WATCH OUT.
