I guess people have bought their first Mars colonies and/or mines to reap the benefits from them.
Let's copy the Moon Hotspot topic's idea and update the OP with the best locations for your bases.
NOVEMBER HOTSPOT
(Won't work on december!)Base Effectiveness: 100%
Location: 5.00000, 41.00000

Codes for my nation's wonders:
Base:
CODE
Don't have the link at the moment
Colony:
CODE
http://www.cybernations.net/national_wonders_map.asp?Nation_ID=135155&Location=Mars&Type=Colony&lon=41.0000000000&lat=5.0000000000000000&VALUE=234AE9B978
Mine:
CODE
Don't have a Mine
If you change the nation ID with your own nation's ID, it should work just going to that link. Sign up into CN first.
Colony gives 5% extra population when you hit the hotspot and 2.5% when you are at 50% efficiency.
If you had 100000 citizens and you reset the colony population, you get between 5000 and 2500 citizens.
(population at the last reset)*0.05*efficiency/100
Mine gives the effect of the bonus resource you get. The efficiency shows how much of it you get.
(resource bonuses)*efficiency/100

Not a thing either, we should get more people

No luck for me either, but at least you should avoid this area:
Location: -40.17887, 58.71094 = 50%

Base Effectiveness: 92%

I got a bit closer, 96%. All in the OP.
I think someone should try this:
74.64951
172,96875
I think it is going to be 98-99%
75, 173 or 74, 173 could be these too. +- 0.000000000000001

Someone PMed me in-game.
The point you posted on the Cyber Nations Forum helped me solve for the 100% point. The hotspot is at Location: 69.00000, 175.00000

aye, glad to find a thread like this.
but how do you find the coordinates on the map? cause trial and error is kinda expensive. Yes, I did look at the image posted and am now neighboring there but not at the exact location of 69.00000, 175.00000

My old location (does this work?):
52.908902047770255,58.0078125,65% (was 65% last month as well)
My new location:
-60.93043220292332,63.984375,52%
schurick

so what you are saying is you are still at 65% in November?

That's correct, it was still reading at 65%. I'm not sure if that's because the point happens to be that much in November as well, or the value didn't update for some reason. Regardless, I moved, and have the new value of 52%, which sucks but hopefully is helpful.

not sure if this was related to the old hotspot or not but
Location: 19.97335, 165.23438 had last month 65%, today 50%
58.00000, -54.00000 50%
wonder how I ended up with a -54 there...
my colony at 58.00000, 54.00000 is at 62%
my mine at 64.00000, 50.00000 is at 58%
that was some expensive fun

If you have 100% efficiency for the mine, you get the full effect of your bonus resource.
Also, the colony doesn't give necessarily a 5% population boost when you have 100% efficiency; it gives 5% of the population you had at the last time you reset the colony population, which could be either more or less than 5% of your current population.
Lavo_2

I only moved the colony to try and find the hotspot, not because I expected any returns from it

thank you for the hotspot IRON and Matt Miller,
also, reading the description of the hotspots it seems that there is just common hostspots for the 3 space wonders and I suppose that you will move more than one space wonder into the same hotspot and both will get the bonuses? someone already did it?
Sande
Nov 10 2009, 03:10 PM
Yes. All wonders have the same hotspot. The hotspot changes it's location at the beginning of every month.
You can move all your wonders on the exact same location and they will all get the same effectiveness.

Erm, dumb question but how do you type in the exact number co-ordinates? So far only know how to drag to spot but not get exactly on :/

The hotspots should always be integer coordinates, however there are minor errors in the distance calculation which will produce a non-zero distance to the hotspot for certain latitudes, resulting in 99% efficiency even when wonders are placed exactly at the hotspot coordinates. I wrote a program to produce error-corrected coordinates for all the error-prone latitudes, and posted a list of the error-corrected latitudes in the moon hotspot thread; the list can be found
here. When dealing with any of the error-prone latitudes, using any of the error-corrected coordinates for that latitude will compensate for the distance calculation error.

Yes it costs money to move, not anywhere near the cost to build and effectiveness is how well the wonder works. Reduces bill and cost of infrastructure by 3% when its at 100% efficiency, so if you only at 50% efficiency it only reduces by 1.5% etc.

Nov 17 2009, 04:20 PM
It is more beneficial only if you have more of the wonders.
So buy something else next months etc.
For me, just moving costs about 450k.
Moving and resetting colony costs 4.5 mil-ish.
