Ok. Little question. Are we allowed to have alliances that refer to other games, for example, a Runescape-Themed alliance, called "United Clans Of Runescape". I was asking because I was thinking of joining or creating a Runescape-Themed alliance.

Yeah, I think there's a Starcraft themed one somewhere around here.

I really don't like people who join the alliance for money than leave you in a couple days. I like alliances that share each person's interest and everyone has a say. Sort of a corrupt democracy! awesome.gif

By the way, you should join an already existing alliance, learn the inner workings, and biiud up your nation. You can get really pounded if you make alliance with your nation strength.

If all you have going for you is your theme, I wouldn't recommend making an alliance. It's a real !@#$%* to start from the ground up, really.

Plus, nobody likes having all these micro-alliances everywhere; and I don't think we have much of any runescape base in CN anyway. We are CN'ers after all,

An alliance that shares your intrests - most definatly the biggest factor for me in going places. if it has a fun community and they respect me for me, then im more than content.
An alliance that offers you money - considering ive left alliances even when told i would be getting a large sum of money, i dont think this weighs heavily on my list
You dont like alliances - although i can understand the desire for some people to go solo, in a game like this where there is so much put into the political aspect, back room dealings and the sort, going solo just wouldnt cut it for me, when it is so much more enjoyable in a good community, as stated above.

as for your idea personally, if you can find a solid group of people to join you with it, or think you can make it work, go for it. people might say "gah, another micro-alliance" but its a game, games are meant to be fun, and if starting a small runescape based alliance is what is fun for you, then who are we to stop you? (provided you know how to keep yourselves from being a target. the war function isnt just there to look pretty, and people use it over small things sometimes)
as pillihp point out though, getting your footing in the game itself might be better before trying to start an alliance from scratch. and i dont think there is a runescape based one already in existance for you to learn in.

I ended up in my alliance since I had a common interest with one of its members (in another forum). Turns out he was a recruiter..

That said..I really can't think of what alliance I'd go to if I ever left mine. I'm weird that way. Still, while themes and cash are nice, what you really need at the core are a dedicated bunch of folks who're willing to do some solid work, especially in diplomacy and community-building. Without that, the cash is just fritterred away on the fickle or the ones who wander off leaderless, while the themes make for a little fun before fading away. Witness how many folks deride Star Wars-themed alliances (although this isn't meant as a slight against them, at least by me).

I guess I am lucky...the LSF were both philosophically themed to my personal beliefs, and the members were financially accommodating. I couldn't have found a better match for me. biggrin.gif

An alliance that offers money would actually make me wonder about them.

There is no point to giving nations aid to join. If they have it in them to be useful they will have their slots full selling tech. If not, the money will be wasted anyhow.

No, if you are going to join an alliance you should look for one that you are comfortable in, not for bribes.
