A NEW APPROACH TO CONSCRIPTION

Today the Ministry of Defence announced plans to bring back national service, to enroll youths as young as 14 into the forces voluntarily or as consequence for anti-social behaviour.

The King remarked; "Essentially, we are killing two birds with one stone here. Firstly, we are engaging youths in their country, provoking national pride and further strengthening the defence of the nation. Secondly, we are providing an incentive for young people to behave properly and become a model member of society."

Furthermore, the military is also using conscription to influence those currently unemployed. Again, tackling two problems with 'one stone'. Those without work may soon be enrolled in a nationwide scheme to provide them with a proper job building naval ships for the Royal Navy. The government have been pressing for over a year now to progress with the reconstruction of once the world's largest and most powerful sea force. Today, those plans are beginning to take shape.

BANK OF BRITAIN

Today the King passed the "Banking Act 2012" legislation to mark the formation and grand ceremonial opening of the Bank of Britain. Subordinate treasuries have all been closed, including but not limited to the Banks of Scotland, Northern Ireland, Crown Dependencies, and many more.

Following months of planning, the Chancellor has finally initiated plans to establish a single facility to administer the entire Empire, and to operate under a single currency, the Imperial Pound Sterling (£).

Furthermore, this single bank will ensure the government has total control over the economic activity in all British owned territories, thus strengthening and stabilising the British - and global - economy, as much as possible.

ANNEXATION OF INDIA

The anarchy within India gets worse by the day. Today however, the paperwork was completed for the official handover to the British Empire. 20,000 troops have been deployed and will arrive in the country this evening to begin re-stabilisation and commence the official annexation.

Critics have suggested Charles is simply focusing on re-building the once British Empire, and has no real interest in the stability of India. King Charles resented the comments. Despite this, India is now under the official rule of the British Empire.

AFRICAN DEPLOYMENT

Within the last few hours, fifty thousand British troops landed in Libya. King Charles is yet to explain these actions, however a press conference is being held later today by the King, addressing the nation - and the world, about his latest actions.

BORDER FORTIFICATIONS UPGRADED

The sea, land and air defences on the British coast of the UK are being upgraded. The government has announced plans to pump over 50 billion Imperial Sterling into the fortifications, which include anti-air guns, basic land defences against tank advancement and barbed wire to combat infantry progression.

Beach fortifications equipped with machine gun positions and artillery are also being upgraded. [classified] Furthermore, the government intends to manipulate SADI (Krypton) as defence against potential invasion. [/classified]

Upon hearing of the rumors of the return of the British Empire, a simple statement was issued.

"Expand your Empire as you see fit, but do not attempt to re-colonize any part of Indonesia--including the island of New Guinea."

OOC: in RL, Papua New Guinea's official head of state was the Queen of England.

ANNEXATION BEYOND INDIA

In the interests of a growing economy and providing the citizens of Asian areas beyond India with a better quality of life, British troops have expanded into the following areas, establishing the territories as part of the Empire.

TheStig
FRENCH COMMUNIST AFRICA

As the FCA has collapsed, and the British possess a somewhat comprehensive influence on the continent of Africa, it has been perceived as our duty by the King to infiltrate the nation and re-establish order under a British rule. To summarise, the former areas of French Communist Africa are now a part of the Empire.
TheStig

OPERATION: MERRY CHRISTMAS

(Classified)

Today, on the 24th of December 2012, preparations are being made on Ascension Island to commence the first nuclear test on the island which has been especially re-developed purposefully for nuclear testing. No-one but two scientists inhabit the island long term, and even they have been removed. The plane carrying the bomb will be affixed and will depart from the island, turn around and begin their approach. The results shall come in soon.

NUCLEAR TEST RESULTS

(Classified)

The test could be regarded as an astounding success or an utter disaster, or perhaps both.

The following image was taken from the Krypton satellite once the bomb was dropped:

Ascension Island has been completely obliterated. Parts of cliffs were shattered and rocks in the ground crippled from the blast. The plane carrying the bomb did not even escape the explosion, and was wiped out moments after impact. The scientists on the canaries monitoring the blast were astounded, and current recordings show a blast radius even exceeding the Tsar Bomb.

(Public)

BBC News Anchor: "We have some breaking news coming in that a vast explosion has just occurred on Ascension Island, believed to be a British military nuclear test. We'll give you more on this story as it develops."

COMPREHENSIVE FALLOUT SHELTER COMPLETE

(Classified)

A nuclear shelter deep under the Earth was completed today.

The entrance can be seen above, in a secret location within the United Kingdom. It has space for over 100 government officials and comfortably houses 2000 more people.

Beyond the prominent entrance (seen above) is the sixteen ton blast doors many metres down. There is also a reserve of gravel, grass and dirt in a large 'container' ready to be poured onto the blast doors for extra shielding if necessary. There are also two emergency exits, making use of explosives to clear the path back up to the surface. 2,100 people could comfortably survive beneath the surface for over two years.

STRATEGIC DEFENCE INITIATIVE UPDATE

(Classified)

All pending facilities have completed construction. The map below demonstrates all the constructions across the planet.

UPDATES

(Classified)

* Funding into propaganda is being increased. Volunteer rates soaring.
* Air raid shelters constructed across Britain, as with India and most of the Netherlands. Italy has begun to follow our lead.
* The British Space Station in Norfolk nearby the British SDI has been upgraded and is ready for its first major launch, which is a network of eight satellites known as 'Radon', a more advanced and precise orbital strategic defence initiative adapting technology originally used with the Krypton station. All this has been conducted in the utmost secrecy. It was put into full orbit and full operation today.

British Navy
* The navy continues to prevail as one of the worlds strongest. The total amount of vessels now equates to the following, with specific fleet numbers in brackets; Total (Atlantic, British, Indian):
19 (9,3,7) Invincible Class Aircraft Carriers
27 (14,5,8) Vanguard Battleships
30 (12,8,10) Supreme Class Destroyers
12 (1,1,10) Invincible Frigates
314 (101,118,95) Regular Frigates
15 (6,4,5) Trident Class [Nuclear] Submarines
88 (35,23,30) Regular Submarines
965 (570,191,204) Transport Vessels
* The British Fleet, naturally, is based on the British Isles. It is responsible for the defending the homeland and will only ever be dispatched away from Britain in the event of an attack on Iceland, the Netherlands, or Italy. The Mediterranean Blockade consists of vessels and commands solely from the British Fleet.
* The Atlantic Fleet is primarily based in Bermuda. Originally many vessels occupied Ascension Island but since it has been transformed into a purpose-built nuclear testing island zone. It is responsible for defending the Empire from attacks from naval attacks via the west.
* The Indian Fleet is based in Sri Lanka whose purpose is to defend Indian territory from a naval attack and administer the blockade on the Kuwaiti Emirate.

* Within Britain there are two major vessel manufacturing plants, one based in Portsmouth and the other in Kent. In Portsmouth, the majority of the entire navy's elite vessels are constructed and assembled for dispatch. In Kent, nuclear submarines and some aircraft carriers are the specialty. Despite being based in Bermuda, no ships for the Atlantic Fleet are constructed there. Most are either dispatched from the UK or the Canaries, with some being constructed within the Caribbean.
*90% of the Indian Fleet is originally manufactured in Sri Lanka, home to the largest construction plant in the world, purely built for the purpose of mass producing military ships. It is renowned for its 'Invincible Frigates', a design compiled by Sir Rishi Subhamoy, an Indian engineer famously knighted in 2012 despite being of Indian ethnictity, never the less the King ruled he should be recognised as British as he is just as crucial to the brotherhood as himself is.

Infantry
* The mass Italian recruitment drive proved incredibly successful, managing to recruit over 4,000,000 in the space of a month. All those men and women will now receive a full month's training.
* In India, volunteer rates continue to climb steadily, bringing the troop count to almost eight and a half million, the largest in any region of the entire Empire. The figures shall continue to flourish.
* In Britain, the army of 6 million has been fully assembled. One million of the forces are the most professionally trained soldiers in the world, including the Special Air Force. Across Europe, the results are similar - very successful.
* Full troop listings indicated below:
