Now I'm not sure how many nations on colored teams have this happen to them, but on the Grey team it isn't uncommon to receive recruitment letters from other alliances. We understand that a number of people don't specify "Alliance Affiliation" in their searches, and as such Greay allied nations get returned. It happens, it's an understandable mistake, just delete it and move on or reply politely and let them know that their search was likely flawed.
What gets me is when I get Trade Circle requests/offers. I post it for all to see that I'm already in a trade circle, in nice big "caps-of-anger" letters, but people seem to not even do rudimentary research about who they're talking to. Anybody who knows anything at all about the Grey Council knows we're a Grey Team alliance, always have been and always will be, yet these messages still request for team changes, despite already being in a trade circle, despite having full slots, despite being in an alliance where your nation color is mandatory. You just look like a mindless grub when you don't even view the nation and base your request off of your search information.
For the sake of not looking like an idiot, please, could we do at least a little homework?

I did my homework. I know a lot about the Grey Council to be honest, I once considered joining.

People find it that copy and paste is much faster and "efficient" than searching their goal one by one... goal as in targeted people who are supposed to get the message.
As long as people stay on Grey in that neutrality, people will stay sending irritating messages of the sort. I'm on maroon and I get other color spheres trying to get me to join...

Let's face it - quite a big chunk of the people in the game don't actually care about CN lolitics/alliances. To expect the casual player who barely heard of a quarter of the alliances in the game to give a !@#$/do research and read about your little isolationist organization is pretty hilarious.
As for people who message you for trade circles/team switches when your bio clearly states that you're already good, yeah, they're annoying, but I doubt they're harder to ignore than the recruiters.

Well, you can also view it the other way as well. When I'm looking for trade partners, I let them know that they will be trading with a Grey Nation. I'm guessing most players just don't want to do that. I usually get responses like "Could you change your team?" or "Sorry. I only trade with same team nations." or something like that. The search of a trade partner just continues then.
Overall it's not that big of a deal for me. We're on Grey. It's the wastelands. What do you expect?

Oct 1 2009, 06:58 AM
Well, I know that I've done this a time or two, and what generally happens is I search "Alliance + Team" None, Blue, and this occasionally turns up people in like the UBD who are on the gray sphere. I think you're just going to have to accept the fact that this is going to happen occasionally - it's pretty much the choice you Grey Council folks have made.

My understanding is a lot of these messages are done via mass sending to lists pulled from in-game search results, and they probably didn't even look at your nation. If you get one of these, just declare war on the offender and nuke them 20 times.

Some would say going through life at -5 Happiness in relation to other rulers more than sucks (assuming you are intelligent enough to keep your trade slots full). But, ultimately it's your choice. I'm not going to bash you for making it.

Would it help if I told you that even on Aqua I get requests to join trade circles even though I have a full set? Actually it's worse than that. The "join our trade circle for Beer, Fast Food and Construction!!" messages. Go look at my trade set (6BR + Scholar btw...and it'd be 7BR + Scholar if I cared to do without nukes or one of the pop bonuses). Do I *look* like I'd want to step down to a 3BR set?

They're just PMs. Unless you're getting 10-15 of these messages a day I don't really see a problem. I'm in a trade circle and I get TC invites all the time; sometimes, when it's not even my resources they're looking for (doh).

dude all were saying is if you want to be retarded and chill on team 'none' don't come crying to us with the problems that ensue because of that. Sure the grey council has alot of history but that doesnt mean losing 5 happiness in a vein search for 'neutrality' is any less stupid. If it is really that much of an issue change your sphere colors; alliances such as GPA, TDO etc seem to manage their fruitless and boring neutrality just fine on normal colors. If being on grey is that important than just tough it out; no one is going to sympathize with you here.

I find it laughable that you think there are still "team politics." It's pretty rare that someone does something to a neutral in the first place, being on a team color would be so much more beneficial than sitting there missing out on 5 happiness. But I'm sure you are just too smart to join a color because you know the truth behind the evil that is a trading sphere. Plus, you'd have to change your name...
tl;dr, we don't care.

I'm going to laugh if one day you guys get rolled just for kicks. It's funny because people on Aqua would most likely defend TDO if they were wrongly attacked, however I don't see anyone sticking up for a bunch of grey guys, too smart to join a color sphere.

It's the same way new nations get bombarded with recruitment PMs within the first few minutes of their nation. Perhaps they don't want to be flooded with messages telling them to "join our alliance we giv u 100K startin aid" but, that's the nature of the beast. I'm a 50K nation who still gets the occasional recruitment PM, along with TC ones. I just either ignore it, or politely decline and go on with my day.
You're on a team that's inevitably going to get more of these, and it doesn't matter how many threads on OWF you make, because it won't stop people. The only choices you have are to ignore them, reply to every message with blatant anger, or switch teams and receive slightly less PMs. It's not like they're raiding your nation every time too.
tl;dr: there's no point getting all riled up over something that seems fairly harmless.

A lot of people just copy ruler names from the resource search page into their list of people to spam, and never look at the nations they spam. When finding TC replacements I only check the nations with full trade slots. It takes more effort to filter who you send to than to just spam everyone.
Trade requests are less justified, as you can only really do them one at a time. When I drop my 5th trade to give temps I get trade requests all the time, even though my bio clearly states I'm in a trade circle.

I already agreed that the people who do this aren't likely to read it, and it's likely to continue. People just got it into their head that because the None team is a rather unique situation, that it was also the cause of the TC requests, which it really isn't. I got just as many when I was black team, which is what prompted me to include "im in a trade circle already" in my bio, to hopefully deter maybe 1 or 2 people from spamming me. None team brings in recruitment letters, without a doubt, I've gotten probably 20 or so since making the switch, but for TC requests these are the first I've seen since turning Grey. It's just remarkable how they decided to clutter my inbox at the same time.

why would anyone mass message a trade circle request? unless its absolutely urgent (as in you're 24 days innactive and need to collet so youdon't delete) there really isn't a need too. I find selective searching yields far better results. I recently found out i had to replace my water/uranium resources for my trade circle. i think i sent out 4 maybe 5 messages to blue team members, and i got a response in less than 24 hours from one of them that is more than willing to join my circle.

I usually send out a message to everyone with an open slot/$%&@ed up trades and no note in their bio on aqua that has the resources I'm looking for saying "Hey I need your resources for a trade circle it has <insert here>. If my slots aren't full, the spot is still open. if they are full, the spot is taken"
Then I get replies for the next week and a half from people saying they want to be in, even though my slot gets filled the first day.
