With the NHL beginning in the upcoming days, i thought it would be a good idea to take your bets on who would win the stanley cup this season.
I place my money on the New York Rangers.

Also, #NHL on coldfront is the place to be if you want to chat with some other hockey lovers.

Canucks will have a good season, but a lot of their talent is still young.
Toronto may start a comeback this year if they keep all their new kids and I think Burke is smart enough to know that.
I don't know who will win the cup.

He already traded away 2 first round draft-picks

and a second i think.
Eh, give Toronto 3 more seasons or so

As a Toronto resident, as much as I would love to say the Leafs, my gut instinct makes me say Detriot.

I could see Detroit or Chicago winning the cup this year.
As much as I love the Leafs, the best I can see them going is 6th-8th place and eliminated in the first round.

Mats Sundin retired. Maybe we can get a better player or players to make up the 9 million we spent on him.

You're kidding right OP? The Rangers aren't in the top 15, maybe not even the top 20 teams. I have a feeling my Flyers will do good this season, but Cup worthy? Maybe.
Montreal is really up in the air, they could do really good or really bad. The Sharks look good, but everyone here should know what's going to happen to them in the playoffs. Honestly, it's too hard to tell at this point.
And to all the people saying Toronto, you better be patient, it's going to be a decade before they are cup contenders.

Chicago, though I may be biased because it's my hometown team. They have to win this year, they wont have the money to keep all of the restricted free agents after the year is over.

If Gaborik can play 65-70 regular season game he has the potential to score 50 goals, and dare i remind you about that time the Wild made it to the conference finals? I believe he had 17 points in 18 games. You do realize if the Rangers do make the playoffs, they have the goaltending to take them anywhere right?

Philadelphia Flyers. Have one of the sickest offensive lineups, already a solid D to begin with, plus the addition of Pronger. They have one goal in mind to win the cup while beating the Pens along the way. The devils won't even make the playoffs, they lost sooo much talent, and Marty is getting older, I can't remember the last time we put 5 up on him so easily.

Chicago won't win because they have Houssa. So inevitably they will be the runner ups. Philadelphia can't win because they can't get past the Pens. And the Caps won't win because one player cannot win it all for his team.
So...
We'll be adding another banner next year.

As much as I hate to say it, I think the Flames (uggh) have a really good chance. They have solid goaltending, probably one of the top 3, if not the best, defense in the league, and a lot of very capable forwards aside from Jarome Iginla and Olli Jokinen.
But God, do I ever hate them.
