Well, I'm sure very few people who read this will know me, but, I don't mind. All I can hope is, that this message does not get lost in amongst all these issues, for it is an important message.
In Alliance Announcements, two threads were created, offering CN news in the form of a YouTube channel, and a Livestream channel.
There were two things I saw wrong with those particular methods. Why they were in Alliance Announcements in the first place? Why was the quality not great. They do both have the potential to be really good, and I understand that, although their opening broadcasts weren't that mind blowing.
I come before you to bring a slightly more outdated method of sharing news. A newspaper. Created by me, summarising events on the Open World Forum, with a few aims. To help those who don't necessarily have the time to go through all of the alliance announcements, finding what they need to worry about, or what they need to praise. To help me get my head around Foreign Affairs, by providing an archive of things I've worked on, that could potentially help me figure out what has gone on, and then what is going on now, with the aim of being able to predict what could happen in the future.
Now, at the moment, I don't know a great deal about CN Politics, I'm trying my best to learn. But, to help me begin that, I would appreciate comments on this post, or on the blog as well, as to how I could improve this service, and if any alliances want any specific announcements put in, that's fine too. Just pm/reply to this/comment on the blog with any improvements you would like to see in the next issue.
Without much further ado, I give you The Cyber Nations Chronicle

My team is just me. <.< But I do think over time The Chronicle will grow in scope, and feature columnists could come in handy, I was thinking of interviewing alliances from all ends of the spectrum, get their personal insight into events, that sort of thing. I was also debating over time to create a second Chronicle, if you want to continue the newspaper theme, a pull out, of just the Alliance Announcements summaried, and moving the main newspaper over to interviews, debate, and advertisements about new alliances, that sort of thing. Get pictures and stuff, the sky's the limit really.

I know have an IRC channel set up, #CNChronicle where you can either debate the news, as posted by the Chronicle, talk about things you'd like to see in the Chronicle, and I'll also set up a special channel for IRC interviews with people, once I have someone to interview so that everyone can see the interview as it happens, and debate, and post questions for the leader in #CNChronicle.
I can only hope that this will grow, and turn into a respected part of Cyber Nations.
If anyone wants me to include something in the next edition, please just reply here, pm me, or catch me in #CNChronicle, and I'll more than happily get it in there for you.

If I was to put in a soundtrack, it wouldn't necessarily be to everyone's tastes, and it's a newspaper. <.<

More on "Hope to see more than just a straight report of the OWF going-ons" over the course of the next few issues. I'm currently now forming a writing staff, via IRC, so if anyone does want to help out, head on down there. Possible interviews are up on the website for voting, and thank you for keeping up with me.
I have a few things I'd like to ask.
Would people prefer it to be posted every new issue, on the forums? Or would people just prefer to bookmark it/subscribe to the feed?
Does anyone have any questions specific to new alliances they would like to ask?
Does anyone want to be advertised, permanently or temporarily in the Chronicle, either pm me, or get me on IRC, and we can discuss this.
Also, I am going to see what CN-Radio has to say about a news program. Record news, play it, DJ a bit, that sort of thing, thoughts on Chronicle Radio, every week or so?

Two things, I will not hire anyone purely based on other's beliefs, people will be hired if they speak to me directly. If they themselves express interest, then we can talk about hiring.
Also, when I say posted on the forums, I mean would you prefer me to post a link to the new article every week on the forums, or would that only serve to become annoying?
Also, we have Twitter now, if any of you use that, follow
https://twitter.com/CNChronicle.
I'm also still working on CN-Radio stuff, that won't be done for a while though yet.

Yes, I would like you to post each time a new issue comes out. With all the stuff out there to already keep track of, I don't need one more thing. Since your paper is about a game, this game, it won't be annoying to post a thread here each time a new issue comes out.
Better, though, is ONE thread. You can just keep adding links to the OP and post that the thread has been updated, like UE used to do for the stats. Who knows, it might even get pinned.

Okay, well for the first week, I'm going to try and post every day or two, to try out new things. Please get back to me on this thread if you like/dislike certain parts of the Chronicle, over the coming week. My aim is, by the 20th, to have a good format set up, that is both liked by the majority, and includes everything people want to see, and to produce a new edition biweekly

Not at all Charming Man. My aim is certainly not to be biased. The interviewees for the first interview were merely selected by people who spoke to me on the IRC channel. It's mostly to see how feasible interviews are to do, especially with new alliances. For a second edition, I am more than happy to speak with your leader, or Foreign Affairs Country Club Manager, (I'm not sure of the exact title), to get you involved in a poll for to end next Saturday.
If anyone else would like to be interviewed, then get in touch with me here/pm/IRC before the 16th of September, at CN server reset.

Lewis Cowper
Sep 10 2009, 08:46 PM
As far as advertising goes, I'm going to wait until the Chronicle is a bit more established, because at the moment, I've had no interest in alliances looking for any promotion, or anything they want me to include. I think at the moment, people think it's going to die out, so they're not too bothered.
Tonight I've been really busy, finally getting round to clearing out my laptop, it took longer than expected, but it means tomorrow I've got more news. Hopefully I can get a larger edition together, possibly with help from a staff.
If anyone has any ideas on a new layout, give me a shout. Obviously the closer to (bi)weekly it gets, the bigger the updates will be, so it will get difficult to organise it simply, but effectively.

The chronicle need not be limited to just news coverage. If you look at many RL publications you can find a variety of articles. Some concerning historical events, debates. Also the game is a role playing game so we could report on the happenings of individual nations.
We should discuss this later on however, but there are many things we can use for material.

Official Poll Analysis
Lord Panda – Senior Fuzzy Thing
This just in, it seems as if The Lost World has just about won the distinction of being the Chronicle’s first official Alliance to be interviewed. They currently lead the poll with just about 50% of the votes, and with the poll closing tonight, The Lost World has plenty of breathing room. The Lost World, run by Bones Malone, Divine Proportion, and Magister Agricolarum, was formed on September 7th, 2009. They are a Blue Team Alliance, and seem to have a theme of ‘bringing back Bob to what it once was’. Perhaps we can get a better explanation in our interview with them. No word yet as to when exactly the interview will take place, but we will certainly try to get it for you before Sunday’s edition. Stay tuned, faithful viewers.
