Would anyone be interested in an alternative RP world besides CNRP? I could create and manage a world map personally seeing as I have some knowledge of graphic manipulation.

Inactivity killed them all unfortunately. The only one with a semblance of activity is CNRPH.

In pretty much all attempts, there was significant interest and participation in the beginning, but then people just stopped caring and they eventually died out.

Except I didn't see anymore of those. My CNRPH thread got dragged down due to other players' inactivity.

I would like to get back into RPing but think these forums aren't the healthiest or most open place to hold the best type of nation RPing. Had similiar situation back on NS when I RPed in E2 and we ended up doing lots of the RPing off the original forums.

This is pretty much true.

The previous spin-offs were CNRPR (R for Realism) and CNRPS (Spore, aka AEGIS). Then there was CNRPH (Heroes), where you were allowed to do Superheroes and Supervillains.

But if you can get this one working, more power to you!

It was actually all these "spin offs" that made it difficult for me to follow the actual activity and lead to my previous bout of inactivity

The spin offs seem to all have special niche themes.

My idea was simply a different RP would. New nations, new rules. That's it.

Describe some of the rules, I'm certain that we would all like to know what you propose.

I honestly think that the best solution is to have rules as "no godmodding, no metagaming, have fun"

I hate to seem bitter about my little map dispute but I'd really like to introduce some sort of starting limit for the size of a nation or create some sort of ratio of in-game land to land to RP land.

We have those rules. In CNRP, your first claim must be within your IG SoI. From there, you may expand, so long as it's properly RPed. Your problem is you had only one place in mind that you wanted and nowhere else, and it was already claimed, so you didn't join. That is the only reason why you're doing this, correct?

I'm also doing this because of the response I got from some people basically telling me to $%&@ off if I didn't like some things.

At the same time, I think that people who do not want to join CNRP but still want to RP should have the option of having another place to go where they will actually get others to play with them instead of being ignored or shouted at for doing something non-canon.

The people who !@#$%* about non-canon stuff are the worst. You can do whatever you want and people can interact with you, a few just will be dicks about it.

IMO I'm getting more and more uninterested in CNRP myself; I'll hate/love the day when Diberia becomes a country again (yay, interaction with people that would not have lots of fun RP'ing with me but do so anyway). Thats one of the reasons why I've been trying to get Nations of Iowk out there and (soon) become another option to the monster-of-a-challenge that is CNRP.

I would be also interested. I think my tech system would be reasonable for a tech system. It'd keep people RPing reasonably.

I can see why you want a CNRP alternative, it’s often not a very friendly community; moreover CNRP is an insider’s game and suffers from horrible elitism. I blame the map thread, I’ve been against it from the beginning, and it has turned out to be the source of all of our community’s problems. . . CNRP is great, the map thread is the real problem.

The real reason nothing else has caught on is because of the investment everyone has put into CNRP; their characters, history, plotlines, role-playing, and time - no one (including myself) is willing to abandon that. The effort it takes to play multiple nations across several continuities doesn’t help.

How about an RP world that is based off the real life world, and we simply shape the future ourselves. I.e, when we begin, all nations, organisations, alliances, historical events, people -- everything exists as it currently is, but from that point on, each player adopts the leader position of a nation of their choice, and plays out the future.

Not only could you be nation leaders, but also members of government for a nation, even citizens.

That, or a similar concept except based on our own made up world, plus made up history, people, events, alliances, nations etc. etc.

And when all of NATO is picked up and people are forced to pick impoverished, underdeveloped countries, that's gonna solve everything right?
