D-Day
Location: Outskirts of Ferixville
Subject: Jiang Tingxi
The mansion was pitch black, and silent, all that Jiang could hear was the distant wailing of the air raid sirens coming from the city. His mind was racing, the job was complete and the plan was ready to be set in motion, the thoughts of what lead up to this were going through his head over and over again. It all seemed so surreal, life used to be so much easier. He and his family were originally small town farmers, and pillars of the Chinese community in Ferixville. That was before the Federal Government collapsed, and New York State was plunged into chaos. This created hundreds of power vacuums throughout the former United States, most of which were filled. Ferixton however, remained a power vacuum. It did not take long for the Tingxi family to realize that they had a golden opportunity at their finger tips.
Jiang and his family worked dilligently to make their farmstead successful. Through their hard work, they managed to aquire one of the largest farmsteads in the Ferixville countryside. Then they started buying out other farmers, creating a small monopoly in the region. Soon, they became the largest suppliers of meat and grain in the Ferixville area. Once they controlled the food, the Tingxi family effectivly controlled the city. Their simple farmstead, was transformed into the headquarters for their farming operations. There was only one man in the region that was more powerful than the Tingxi family, and that was the Warlord Ferix, a former Marine Captain paid to protect the region from outsiders. He performed his job well, well enough to stay in power for the better half of a decade.
Now the city was in danger from the outsiders, again. Ferix had already moved his forces to the east to reinforce the warbands on the border, he would fight the ground campaign. There was one major problem that Ferix faced, he had no aircraft and the enemy did. The enemy was flying old Russian aircraft and a few obselete AH-1s, but even a few aircraft would mean that they'd be able to hit Ferixville without engaging his forces. That is where the Tingxi family came back into the picture, or more specifically, Jiang Tingxi. Jiang was the oldest son, and heir to the family fortune, but he was also an engineering genius. He was familiar with the enemies' weapons and tactics, after all he had been a combat engineer at Fort Drum a decade earlier. The enemy would most likely raid at night, to maintain surprise and decrease the loss of valuable aircraft. So Jiang, with the help of several inner city gangs, organized the first large scale black out in Ferixton. This was the first part of his plan, the second part was not so easy. It cost his family a small fortune to set up all of those search lights.
"Jiang!"
His mother's voice penetrated his thoughts, and brought him back to reality. "Jiang," she said, "its time!" Jiang nodded, she was right, he could hear the aircraft off in the distance too. He made his way to the basement, as he walked down the fear started setting in. If the plan failed, if the missiles were a little off, his entire family could be killed. "Come on Jiang," he tried to reassure himself, "there is no time for doubt." He flipped a light switch at the bottom of the stairs, revealing a dank room filled with old reliques and tools. One thing stood out however, it was a large power switch fixed to the wall with a power cord running from its base into the wall.
WHOOOSH!!!
One of the Yak-9s roared as it passed overhead, it was scouting out the region for targets. Now the sound of helicoptors was getting louder, they were the big guns and if they reached the city they'd cause massive destruction. Jiang gathered his nerves and pulled the switch, just as another Yak-9 flew by.
Subject: Captain James P. Ronald (Drum Air Corps)
The third Yak-9 pilot could not believe his eyes. Out of nowhere thousands of lights appeared in front of him. It was as if the city had come up under his plane. Then the gunfire started. It seemed as if it were coming from all directions.
Captain Ronald spoke into the radio, "Deep Six, this is Deep Three, over."
"Send your traffic Deep Three," sounded off over the radio.
"We're recieving ground fire," Captain Ronald said, just as several bullets pierced his plane and ripped through his rear gunner's body. "We're going to need to abort the mission, over."
"Roger that, Deep Three."
Captain Ronald waited for the rest of the pilots to roger up, then turned his plane around and ran through the gaunlet of fire once more. His plane was getting shot to hell, he knew he wouldn't make it out of the area alive. So he did the next best thing. He cleared his throat and said his final words, "don't wait up for me gents." Captain Ronald did a nose dive straight for the lights, opening up with his .50 caliber machine guns. The search lights exploded, sending sharpnel into the faces of the enemy machinegunners. Captain Ronald grinned, and began pulling up to hit the !@#$%^&* once more. Then the glass shattered, a .50 caliber round smashed through the &#$@ pit and into Captain Ronald face, decapitating him. With its pilot dead, the Yak-9 sped toward the Tingxi mansion, tearing through the front into the living room where the majority of the Tingxi family was taking shelter. The house managed to stand for a few minutes, before the support beams gave out on the north face and the second floor came crashing down on the first.
