Full Version: Newer Wonder Descriptions

If you pay attention, you notice that the description of all the 'original' wonders still have a little bit of roleplaying description in them.

some examples:
QUOTE
Space Program - $30,000,000 - The space program sends your astronauts to the moon and beyond. Increases happiness +3, lowers technology cost -3% and lowers aircraft cost -5%.
Great University - $35,000,000 - The great university is a central location for scholars within your nation. Decreases technology costs -10% and increases population happiness +.2% (+2 for every 1000) of your nation's technology level over 200 up to 3,000 tech.
National Research Lab - $35,000,000 - The national research lab is a central location for scientists seeking cures for common diseases among your population. Increases population +5% and decreases technology costs -3%.
Social Security System - $40,000,000- The social security system provides benefits to aging members of your nation. Allows you to raise taxes above 28% up to 30% without additional happiness penalties.
Disaster Relief Agency - $40,000,000 - The disaster relief agency helps restore your nation and its people after emergency situations. Increases population +3% and opens one extra foreign aid slot.
National War Memorial - $27,000,000 - The war memorial allows your citizens to remember its fallen soldiers. This improvement is only available to nations that have lost over 50,000 soldiers during war throughout the life of your nation. Increases population happiness +4.

Now the descrips just skip the whole roleplaying element and display only the in-game effects. I think we can all agree that trying to maintain more of an RP atmosphere is better for the game, so let's add some new descrips in there.
And I'm trying to keep the descriptions in step with their bonuses.

A couple examples:
QUOTE
Central Intelligence Agency- Enhances ability to perform espionage by your nation.

Nuclear Power Plant - Built to take advantage of uranium's energy potential, and also serves as model of maintenance efficiency.
Allan a Dale
Approved for discussion.
Mesteut
Hurts nobody and gives unfair advantage to nobody - Just adds some RP wise descriptions.

I can see no reason why a change like this shouldn't happen.

Exactly,

I am for this. It isn't necessarily a "needed" item, but it would flow better.
Kung Fu Geeks
i agree with this suggestion.
Jinnai
If it's not going to take away from serious development, yea. This isn't a "high" priority item so wherever admin feels like he has time would be nice.
ChairmanHal
I'd like to see someone come up with a good reason why not. Aside from people arguing over the wording, I can't see this taking any development time or causing other issues.

It shouldn't take any development time. I'd assume that there is a description field in the database and all Admin would have to do is update it.
joeliscob
Totaly for this suggestion.

I'll certainly try!

Uh...? Some of the descriptions are really long already?
ccjmk
I support the idea; it'll enable faster understanding of the advantajes within each wonder, helping for a faster choise.

Since we propose mucking with names and descriptions then how about dropping Hidden from the Nuclear Missile Silo for a more realistic Secure.

Secure Nuclear Missile Silo more aptly describes what it really is. Hidden as a term is useless since everyone knows you have it and can see your nukes.

Not asking to change the wonder at all, just give it a better moniker.

Save for the fact that nuclear missile really can be hidden by making them mobile or by placing them in a silo complex with a number of decoys, making the job of taking out the real missile next to impossible unless you blanket the whole complex with ground burst nukes.

Honestly though, spies would never be allowed to get close enough to sabotage strategic nuclear missiles. They rank among the most secure facilities in the world. Al-Qaeda, arguably some of the best at "black bag" work, has been trying infiltrate the nuclear facilities in Pakistan for some time now (presumably to either take control of a nuclear device or blow it up on site)--all their attempts have failed.

It's just that in the game they aren't hidden Hal. Everyone can see I have a HNMS just by looking at my nation, so the name is pretty much inaccurate.

That is completely irrelevant to this suggestion, take it somewhere else

Not really. Names are part of the description of a wonder.

This would be pretty cool to see happen.
