Recently coastal cities in the province of Daegu have been being raided by pirates. They come in the middle of the night and $%&@, pillage, and kill Kitexian citizens. President DDB had this to say

An independent news poll was done on how citizens felt about their government's response to the pirates and 90% approved of sending the Marines.

NEWS UPDATE:

Pirates have viciously attacked multiple coastal cities in Daegu and have killed a total of 50 Marines in vicious fighting. Intelligence sources tell us that there are about 1,500 pirates in our cities and also that they have established a beach head. The beach head claim has been verified by Marines who fought the pirates. President DDB did not issue a statement, yet activated the rest of the 1st Marine Batt. and also activated the 1st Infantry to be flown in by C-5 Galaxies and National Guard units in the area.

IFN News Update:

"As a result of the growing naval raids and fighting within Kitex's boarders, reports have begun to come in from other nations of a significant rise in pirate activity and attacks on commercial vessels. Several reports have also come in from the Pegasus colonies of large ships with what appear to be speedboats docked with their hulls scouting out new locations close to the New Dogsville assembly area where shipments are moved into the new colonies from the fleet.

One of the more recent cargo shipments reported overflying close to one of these ships and being fired upon by a ground to air missile or explosive weapon aimed to take out the freighter’s engines.
As a result of this clearly aggressive attack, several military units of Cobra squadrons have been moved to the recently constructed hangers and civilians report a higher number of Marines and militia patrolling the streets and outskirts of the colonies.

One unnamed pilot commented that they had begun to fly patrols with specific orders to destroy any pirate vessels on site as a method of defense against such raiders.

It is currently unknown if this is a prelude to a declaration of martial law across the colonies or if this is a temporary arrangement. Only time will tell.

The nations of Kitex and Battlestar Pegasus have recently formed an alliance againist the pirates. Recently, the Kitex Marines, Infantry, and National Guard have made some gains in taking back the beach head. Also the BP forces have also made few gains in battling the pirates at sea. Batt.
