Please Read and Take Note - New Ruling:

Due to rampant abuse of the option from this day forward we will no longer be granting temporary forum bans upon request. If you feel you need to be banned from the forum you should make sure you really aren't going to want to come back and instead consider it a permanent ban. Immediately upon your request for a ban from the forum you will accrue an automatic 20% warn level raise. If you really intend to quit the game this does not affect you at all and therefore is of no consequence. If you do change your mind your request for unbanning will not be granted until at least one full month has passed since the date you requested the ban and your warn level will NOT be reduced. If you decide to come back under a new account your warn level will carry over as is standard for any player who returns under a new account.

Warn level reductions are only granted based on demonstrated improved forum conduct in the time (never less than a month and preferably longer) since the last warning, so you will not be allowed to file for one if you have not remained active on the forum during that month to prove you have learned to follow the rules and control yourself. Players have been attempting to use the admin team as babysitters in place of self-discipline and that is not what the staff is here for. Again, since this happens most commonly when users get to one or two warn levels away from a ban: you should not request a ban at 80% warn level unless you really intend not to come back as the request will put you at 100% warn level and a permanent ban anyway. Demanding/requesting a ban so you can lie dormant for over a month and then immediately apply for a warn level reduction is no longer possible as the very act of requesting the ban will result in an automatic 20% warn level addition itself.

If the problem of players abusing ban requests continues we will re-visit this decision and likely discontinue temporary bans as an option entirely.
