Well, this isn't a grand suggestion to improve the game..just a small thing.
Notifying users about senate elections has been a great new addition. However, the notification remains at the top of your nations page until you've voted. I find this annoying as the top of the nation page is used for current notifications. The way I see it is that if there is no red there is no problems and nothing new. When you vote in the election, your team color becomes locked. As someone on a color that is not my alliances official color, I'd like to keep my option open to switch at any time.
My suggestion is that once the notification has been clicked it goes away whether having voted or not. One might argue that leaving the notification up will remind those who didn't have the time to vote just yet to vote, however I think that if they simply don't click the notification until they are ready to vote then they won't have an issue.

Approved for discussion.
I think the best thing that could be done here is to add a link under the notification to suppress it until the next election cycle starts. This way you can hide it if you want but it's still there so you don't forget if you just don't have time to vote when you see it. This would also be good for someone who doesn't want to vote now but knows that they will later on.
Having a option in your profile settings that would suppress the notification period would be a nice option as well. Since some nations may not ever want to vote in the senate. This would, of course, start unchecked when your nation is created and could possibly reset itself after a certain period of time (six months, maybe?)

Clicking it shouldn't remove it, but an option to remove the notification should be available by user consent. There are reasons aside from color switching for not voting immediately.

I'm in the exact same situation, I want that option to remove as I don't want to vote as I plan on moving after the war and like option open too.

I suggested this when admin first made the change, and he called me a democracy hater
http://forums.cybernations.net/index.php?s...t&p=1396598But, I didn't offer up not being able to switch teams as a reason for a null vote, I just didn't want to vote... The inability to team switch after voting is a valid reason...

Why not just give the option to have it sent via PMs instead of the reminder? Anyone that choked up could then make it a PM notification, anyone that wants the reminder can have it up there.

PMs disappear after a whle unless you save it. There are cases where people are gone for 2 weeks and come back and collect. They should be able to be reminded the same as others that its time to vote.

With an option to disable the notification players will simply disable it and never turn it back on and then the whole senate vote reminder to get more people involved in senate politics loses its effect. How about a link that you can click inside the message to disable the reminder for 5 days and then it will auto reappear after the 5 days have passed?

what if once you click the link you dont get it until the next senate reset?

How about a 'remind me later' option in the message?

That's what I was suggesting. How long is 'later'?

Three days? One week?
Maybe add an option where users can select how long is later.

I've added an option beside the vote message to 'Remind Me Later' which will clear the message for 2 days. This can be expanded to 5 days or more later on if necessary.

How about an option on your settings to decide how long of a gap you want it to be?

Is it possible to change it so you can only vote once a month and then take off the Color locking effect? So instead of it locking you into your color to prevent voting abuse, just make it so you can only vote once a month.

I guess some might not think that's long enough. I think an idea of extending it till the next round would suffice at the longest range. If you don't plan to vote that month, it would be annoying to click that every 5 days. It would I guess still be annoying to click it at all, but once a voting session isn't that much and still gets more people to vote.
