Sources inside the Prime Minister’s office and from members of the Cabinet of Ministers reported that PM Viktoriya Kolesnikov will return to work tomorrow. Lady Kolesnikov was hospitalized almost a month ago after fainting at her home. Her deputy, Vladimir Belyakov, has been serving in Lady Kilesnikov’s place ever since.

The Prime Minister apparently had a brain tumor which she had been knowingly living with for several weeks. With the onset of the Great War and added stress running a re-election campaign just prior to that, finally took its toll. After being rushed to the hospital doctors began the first of several surgeries to remove the tumor and save the Prime Minister’s life.

Although still recovering from her life saving surgery Lady Kolesnikov is insisting she is able to return to work. She told doctors she won’t over exert herself and will generally be overseeing the transition as she begins her second term in office. Lady Kolesnikov also wants to be sure the transition of power in India goes as smoothly as possible. The prime minister said “I was the one who started India on its path to independence and I would be very upset If I was unable to see it through to the end. Although India is now independent it is Slavorussia’s responsibility that it stays that way.”

Deputy PM Vladimir Belyakov pledged to handle all of the “stress inducing grunt work,” until Lady Kolesnikov can return fully return to her post. Belyakov says he’s already taken on most of the responsibilities while he was acting in the prime minister’s place, and it wouldn’t be too difficult to continue for an indefinite amount of time.

After taking her oath the Prime Minister announced some adjustments to the Cabinet of Ministers. She appointed new Minister of Defense Minister of Transportation and Minister Health and Education. She also thanked Vladimir Belyakov, her deputy, for acting as prime minister in her absence. Belyakov has the record for most days served as acting prime minister. He served 28 days and 17 hours.

The Lady Prime Minister appreciates all the kind words. Her doctors tell her if she takes it easy and continues to get plenty of rest she'll be back in full force in no time.

In related news the Prime Minister submitted a written letter to the houses of parliament outlining her plans for the rest of the year. Her primary targets are reforming the national education system. Over the last 5 years test scores have been steadily declining, something that puts Slavorussia out of competition with our neighbors, who seem to be doing the opposite. One of her most controversial ideas to fix schools is to have the government take over public schools. Svetlana Suvorov the new Minister of Health and Education told reporters "Yes teachers and school administrator's jobs are on the line. If they cant meet the standards set by the government then they will be fired. If they had been doing their jobs in the first place we wouldn't be having this problem." The Prime Minister plans to release a list of 300 schools across the empire, which are dangerously close to being taken over, next week.
