No.1 for New form Dun Carrig

Last week the High King ended the absolute monarchy and allowed a parliament to be formed to keep check on the monarchy (Info). We will bring you up to the second information on all election news and developments. Today was the deadline for parties and independents to register to be on the ballot. Today we will bring you party profiles and platforms followed by a Q&A with you. Up coming will be profiles on notable independents and party leaders. And with out further delay here is a rundown of Dun Carrig political parties:

The Royal Dun Carrig Party ( Loyalists )
The Loyalist are the oldest political party in Dun Carrig. It was formed during the First republic
was the popular opposition the the first Communist Government. They won a brutal civil war against that
communist government lead a power-sharing government after the Carrig Fianna
rigged elections and were the last party to exist before the collapse of the state.

The Loyalist party today are a much more conservative party than they used to be who are committed to restoring Dun Carrig to it former glory. They have strict immigration polices but want to attract people who fled Dun Carrig during the collapse back home. They favour a national health system and free 3rd level education. They favour low social welfare for able body workers seeking work and to those not even looking for work cutting it after 1 year.

Coalition of the Left
The CoL is a hastily assembled group of former Left-wing parties. The main parties who merged are Communist Party of Dun Carrig , The Socialist Alliance and The Untied Workers Party. The merge took place after it emereged that people no longer trusted the Communist system after both previsous communist government collapsed. The parties have pooled their resources and given up resorting a true commuinst government instead taking a more Social Democracy line.

It supports Free Education at all levels and free health care. It also would ban private schools and health care to spot a two tier system developing. It supports more relaxed immigration polices and would not give any privilege to former Dun Carrig citizens. The want to incress social welfare for all and impose high corporation taxes

The Republican Party

The Republican was formed after a meeting following the establishment of parliament. They were not happy about how much power the king kept and in paticualr the fact he would have a permanent seat.

The favour similar social policies to the CoL but share the view that former citizens should be allowed to return unconditionally. Under them the monarchy would be left as noting more the a ceremonial role if at all although the have not committed to completely abolishing it. Corporation taxes for Dun Carrig Companies would be reduced

Catholic Party
The party are almost identical to the Loyalist party but favour Catholicism as the state religion. There are deep divides in the party about the future role of a monarch

The floor is now open to questions for each party

We see that at least two parties favor changes of some kind to the educational system. What are Dun Carrig's current policies on education? Particularly early education?
DeSchaine
Taeunas applauds this move and will be watching the elections with great intrest.

Many in Taeunas wish to know the parties policies concerning civilian firearm ownership.

The current education system is made up of primary and secondary with private 3rd level education available. Primary school is free and secondary is free to those who cant afford to pay but is subsidised to a degree for those who can. Many have complained that the means test is unfair and not detailed enough however

Currently firearm by only be owned by civilians if they can prove they need them for hunting/sport and still it takes a long process to obtain a license. No party officially supports a change in gun laws but there is significant support for more relaxed gun laws in the Republican Party

What sorts of rules govern the rights of civilian self defense? What rights are allowed to convicted criminals?

Civilians have right to due everything in their power to protect themselves or their property short of murder unless there life was in danger. Convicted criminals have the right to a fair trail and right to appeal as well as the right to remain silent get a solicitor.

(I will post the results later very busy )

Results are

Loyalists - 34 seats
Coalition of the Left - 20
The Republican Party - 24
Catholic Party - 16
Independent - 6

An interesting result witch gives alot of power to the independents. The Loyalists will be widely support by most of the Catholic Party but there are division in the Catholic Party and some may vote the other way. A united front on issues form the Republicans and CoL could defeat the loyalists if the could swing the independents or members of the Catholic party.Expect a volatile parliament in witch we could see the High King breaking alot of dead lock
