Full Version: Court?

I just had a great idea. There should be a court with an actual judge, jury etc. It would be a forum but with an instant message board. It would be a place where wars are finalized, nuclear strikes approved, people put to trial for crimes, etc. There could be elections for judges, and lawers could be appointed, public defenders, all that cool stuff. I thought It sounded fun. What do you think?
TheThirdMark
That would pretty much ruin the Idea of Multiple Alliances thinking and acting different. I would say: NO.

It would make alliance wars less personal and distructive. Also it would investigate reasons for alliance wars. It would have been useful if it had been arround for the norden verein war.
Voodoo Nova
Been thought of before. Nothing will change because soveriegn alliances like to stay sovereign.

Exactly I love the lack of International Law. Makes the game more interesting and suprising.

It would be very democratic. We all know democracies work above all else.

Democracies rarely work effectively outside of internal alliance elections.

might be worth having a read here to see some of the arguments against such a system, if you're serious about this it might give you some ideas smile.gif

Look, don't take this wrong, but this has been brought up a million times, and it's been firmly established that there's no way in hell that any self-respecting alliance would give away their sovereignty to some court. Sorry.

Since we all have a fairly good idea where this is going to go, and for those that don't feel free to check the link - I'm going to close it before the meatbags get out of hand.

Check your blaster. I think you missed.

The current power structure would simply prevent any court with any real power from forming. Alliances prefer to do things their own way

We have a court, discussion system, its called IRC awesome.gif . Also, no telling what an Instant Message feature could do to the forums. They already crash enough dry.gif

Pleast tell me, who would join this court system? It would just mean more rules and regulations for alliances, and they don't like that. at all.

Also, who would enforce the rules of this court? The members?

No alliance would join this because it would be too complicated and alliances generally like to do what they want as long as they act inside their treaties. The rules in CN are pretty clear, and if you mess up you get destroyed. We don't need a court to tell us/force us, nor do we want one. So this will never happen.

agreed

I do sort of support this, but with so many people wanting to shoot this idea down, it won't be possible.

Besides, the war crimes? Oh yeah, I doubt any rouges would follow the court orders, and they would continue to blast other CN nations to bits (if possible). Plus, the approval of nuke strikes? Do realize that there are CN nations that freely fires their nukes when they are ordered to by their alliance, and/or feel like it.

Also, many alliances hate regulations from outside of their alliances, so they would ignore the court orders.
