I've been thinking about offering prizes for the top tournament winners. I won't offer anything for the first round since there will likely be several tweaks to gameplay that may be unfair to players. What are your thoughts on more signifigant prizes after the first successful round? What kind of prizes do you suggest and for how many of the top nations?

I played another round based game where the winner of each round got an XBox 360, the second got a PSP, and the third got an iPod.
You could give infra and stuff in the normal game, or maybe like, gift cards..

One idea is The top ten get their prizes added to their CN nation. Something like this, of course this is just a rough draft but basicly my thoughts are the top three get way more then a $20 donation deal and the other winners get a $20 donation deal that is beefed up.
#1 Gets 1,000 infra
#2 Gets 500 infra and 1,000 tech
#3 Gets 500 infra and 500 tech
#4 Gets 300 infra, 300 land, and 50 tech
#5 Gets 300 infra, 300 land, and 50 tech
#6 Gets 300 infra, 300 land, and 50 tech

If we go with that, those numbers definitely need to be changed. D:
I also suggest creating a forum for the "Tournament Winners" to lounge about and gloat to the rest of the players.

Of course that is just a guide to how i think it should be the top three get greatly awsome prizes an the other 7 get great prizes, but yes i agree the nubers need to be changed any thoughts on what would be more fair?

why not offer to those who do well extra money/tech to those players in the Next round. If those players do not intend to play the next round, they may have the money given to another.
That OR
have it given to regular CN nations. But then the issue comes up if you do not have a nation in the regular game.

Those first items may not be cost-effective.
First thing that came to my mind was bonuses to CN nations, but that seems too boring. Winner being able to add their own flag to CN would be very awesome,

I think just a Medal will be enough. It doesn't have to be a prize that has real monetary value.
It just needs to go into a section of Nation Info that says "Medals earned:"
And there could be medals like:
Medal of Infrastructure (given to ruler with most Infra)
Medal of Technological Advancement (given to ruler with most Tech)
Medal of Superiority (given to ruler with most Nation Strength)
Medal of Cultural Significance (given to ruler with most Wonders purchased)
Medal of Honor (given to ruler with the most money spent)
Medal of Finance (given to ruler with most money earned from taxes)
Medal of Money (given to ruler with most money at the end)
Medal of War (given to ruler with the most damage caused in war)
Medal of Death (given to ruler with the most casualties caused in war)
Medal of Land (given to ruler with the most land)
(more creative names needed)
This can mean alot of honor for people that get medals, and the people giving them out don't have to spend much more than add a section to nations's info saying which medals this ruler earned in the past.

Perhaps it could be 50 milion to number 1
50 infrastructure to no. 2
50 tech to no. 3
50 Land to no. 4
50 L9 aircraft to no. 5
then just 5 million for the top 6-10
finnaly just 1 mil for anyone in the top half.
In the lower bottom it could be 50,000 dollars.

I think the prizes shouldn't be too high, otherwise everyone will go for growth and the wars will disappear = defeats purpose of TE
I think just a simple $20 donation for 1st place, $10 donation for 2nd and $5 for 3rd, or similar would do just fine.

This looks a lot better my thinking behind my numbers is some would want 2nd place over 1st if some one rather have alot more tech to give to their alliance, even though 1,000 infra is way alot it kinda is balanced because you dont have any tech or land to go with the infra so you will need to buy the tech and land to balence the infra.

Like $20 donation or $20 to the store
after all, some people may not even need the donation/infra because they're it'd mess up their infra jumps, etc.

The flag idea and anything else that rewards alliances is the only thing I can totally agree with. Rewarding only the best individuals doesn't seem very fair when it takes the teamwork and effort of an alliance to achieve a strong position.

That wouldn't be bad, and would be an easy group prize to spread "awards" beyond just the individual nation winners. I could see adding the winning flag(s) to TE permanently, actually. If it was just the top one or two, it wouldn't really be that big a deal, just a couple of flags every three months.

I don't think giving the prizes to nations in CN:SE is a good idea. Gameplay should be how well you do with that one nation you have in the game and not any other.
The idea of a prize is a good one, though I'm the kind of person who would be thrilled with just a t-shirt. Also, the flag idea is great in my view.

Just make it a choice, a flag, a T-shirt, or CN bonus (only one). Some may choose a flag for their alliance in CN, if that alliance already is sanctioned they can get free infra or a T-shirt, and if they don't play CN they can get a T-shirt. (I'd go with the flag)

Not really. If only the top nation gets their flag, then that's 1 bonus flag per round (3 months?), or 4 flags a year.
Perhaps a Named flag as well, as opposed to Custom Flag ##, maybe the user's name, etc.

Probably best to just name the prize flags "TE Champ Flag ##," so they're all together on the list. Frankly, I doubt it would be that cluttery even with a couple of flags per tourney. Just leave them out of regular CN, and only include them in TE, and they basically take the place of adding flags for sanctioned alliances. Though, I think you're better off using flags as top alliance prizes, and t-shirts or shop gift certs or whatever for individuals. I really do like the idea of rewarding the top alliance with something easy like that, so that more people feel like they contributed to "winning" the tourney. That way, players who are out of the running for the top nation slots can still have a goal to work towards.

Agreed, the bonuses, if they be for your nations, should not apply to TE simply because it unfairly gives theoretically better players a greater advantage. If it's in-game, the bonus should be applied to your standard nation (apologies for those only playing TE, though perhaps this will be an incentive to create in CN standard).
