I have seen OPs requesting locks in OWF and in some cases the threads are locked and in others theyare not because there are no author's rights in OWF. According to the rules the OPs should not be able to request locks and I just think its something that should be made uniform one way or another. on the first page of OWF right now there is a thread that was locked by The Mod on OPs request and a thread that Justita refused to lock according to the RP rules. It doesnt really matter to me which way this one goes but it should be consistant.

It depends on the way the thread is going. If an author request a lock because they feel that thread is getting out of hand, then I'll look over it and decide what course of action to take. Authors rights don't apply in OWF, but an author can still notify a moderator if they feel that the thread can turn into a major flame war/trolling fest. In the end it's up to the moderator to decide if the thread has served its purpose.
