He was always considered the second founding father, along with the late, [url=http://cybernations.wikia.com/wiki/Josef_Mercton]Josef I[/url]. Richards was once just a colonel, who was successful in battle known only as the Orlando Offensives. His military reputation grew into a political movement as the Anchor Party grew up around his ideas, and he became president in 1988 after the Communist Revolt. Serving as President for ten years, we was presented with Bestowed Peerage by King Josef, and later called back into political service at the Minister of War and Defense under Adrik Annan. And he was currently serving as Premier of the J Andres Commune. Of course with the collapse of J Andres yet again, that meant that that position was just another fancy title.

And Richards had a brand new title to add to his list: author.

Richards knew anything there was to know about J Andres, and he was sitting down at a small book store signing copies of his memoir, “Third Time isn’t Always the Charm.”

Castillo Real was a lonely, empty place these days. [url=http://cybernations.wikia.com/wiki/Stephanie_Mercton]Stephanie Mercton[/url] wandered the halls to her mother’s chamber. The former Queen, [url=http://cybernations.wikia.com/wiki/Ambrielle_Lanier]Ambrielle[/url], lay in bed. She was now 74 and her health was deteriorating. She had been a widow for nearly 4 years and being married to the founding father was not the easiest job in the world. “Mom?” Princess Stephanie said, as she forced the door open slowly.

The elder woman looked up from the book she was reading, she smiled before speaking, “Have you read Ben’s book? He does your father justice.”

Stephanie looked closer and saw Ben’s face smiling from the cover of the book, “I haven’t gotten around to it yet. But I came because I finally –“

Her mother interrupted, “It really is a good book. A pretty concise history of everything that we have been through. It does a better job than the memorials at Old Quarry Hill. It’s a good personal account. Your father did a good job. Poor Ben did the best he could to hold it together. But that power-hungry brother of yours…”

The smile on the elderly woman’s face vanquished, “Stephanie, the nation doesn’t even exist anymore, what good would it be to serve as the Queen without a home? Now if you had found that four years ago, it would have been relevant. You could have stopped your brother and set things right the way your father would have wanted you to.”

Stephanie thought back to those days following her father’s death. Her brother, [url=http://cybernations.wikia.com/wiki/Richard_Mercton]President Richard Mercton[/url], had done his best work to completely cover up the Equal Primogeniture Act of 2009. He erased nearly every record of the act ever existing, so he could scoop up more power. Stephanie had devoted countless weeks scouring the archives in the Adrik Annan Governmental Center searching for it, and had only recently discovered it. “I still can do it Mother, we can declare our independence again!”

Stephanie thought back to all the previous times that J Andres had declared its independence. Every time it had involved someone from her family. Her father declared independence in 1981, Richard in 2016, Richard again in 2025, and now she could do it again in 2032. For the past half a century, the Mercton family had been deciding the status quo was not good enough.

The mother slowly crawled out of bed, “We’re going to need to call Ben.”


[b]A Bookstore, somewhere in Rhode Island[/b]

“There you go Matthew, Best of Luck,” Ben Richards said as he signed another copy of the book and handed it to young fellow.

“Could you make this one out to Stephanie please,” a familiar feminine voice said. Ben grabbed another copy of the book and spoke as he wrote, “To Stephanie, Best of Luck, Benjamin Richards.” As he closed the book and looked up he nearly had a heart attack. “Stephanie! What are you doing here? And Lady Ambrielle? Should you be out of bed?”

The mother spoke first, “I would have expected more manners from you, Benjamin. And might I remind you that you are my senior by a few months?”

“Excuse me, but to what do I owe such royal company?” Ben asked sarcastically, much more collected now.

“I found it,” Stephanie stated simply, “I found the records of the Equal Primogeniture, and you were present at my father’s ascensi—“

“No,” the old man said. He held up one of the copies of his book, “See this book. There are exactly 632 pages here. The story is complete, there is no room. J Andres is done, the world is tumultuous and confusing, and in just a few months time some new government will have new laws for us to follow.”

“We need your help,” the Princess asked kindly.

“But [i]I[/i] am done, Stephanie. I have enjoyed the past few months. It’s been the first time since 1982 that I have gotten a full night’s sleep. I have my taste of retirement and I like it. I regret not being able to save J Andres, but there’s nothing else I can do about it. I have given this nation 50 years of my life and all I have to show for it is this book.”

“Which is selling fairly well,” Stephanie reminded him.

The old man sighed. He had been in this situation plenty of times before, retired from government only to get dragged back in somehow very shortly after. “I have one condition.”

Stephanie nodded.

“I preside over the Ascension, just as I did for your father, and then that’s it. I go back to my little cottage in Newport facing the sea and I don’t want to hear about any of your problems up here in Endor Cuidad. I’m not going to be President again, I’m not going to be any sort of minister. I’m done.”

Stephanie and her mother both nodded.

A modest crowd surrounded the podium in front of the Adrik Annan Governmental Center. It seemed like a repeating dream to many J Andres citizens, the nation falls and shortly after someone with the last name Mercton steps up to the podium and announces their independence.

Once upon a time, it was Richard Mercton at the podium, but now he was only one in the crowd, eager to see what was happening in front of him.

He hadn't been able to find work since his government dissolved, and he had returned to his favorite past time of wandering the streets preaching doom.

Silence came over the crowd as he observed his sister walk through the door, wearing his late father's crown. She was flanked by her mother and Old Ben Richards.

Ben Richards had been an old friend of the Mercton family for ages, however, in recent years, Ben and Richard had been at odds in almost everything political.

"Greetings my fellow Andreans!" the old man mustered, "In my lifetime, I have been called many things, including one of 'The Three Great Fathers.' The late Josef Mercton and the late Adrik Annan were far more influential than I was, and it is my curse to outlive both of them and see how their policies have changed the world, while my own have only divided us. My era in this country is just what I have written in my book, it's history."
"Since the passing of our beloved King Josef, the throne has been vacant. It seems like ages ago, I was present at a ceremony in which Josef ascended to the throne. Just moments ago I presided over the very same ceremony for a much younger Mercton."

Richard Mercton's face turned into horror. "It can't be," he said to himself, "I had all records destroyed! She has no right!"

Ben Richards continued at the podium, "In 2009, the Commune ratified the Equal Primogeniture Act. This act negated gender preference to the throne, placing Princess Stephanie first in line. The act has seemingly been forgotten in the sands of time. In my final act for this nation, I present to you, your Queen, Her Majesty, Queen Stephanie."

Richard's older sister took the podium to a standing ovation. Richard only heard bits and pieces as he turned and headed in the opposite direction, something about Dobbs Doctrine and elections. [b]His sister might have the crown, but she wouldn't have his country. [/b]

[b]OOC:[/b] Greetings! It's been a long time! I realize that many of you don't know me, but may know my nation, thanks to JEDCT, who has done a wonderful job as RPing as J Andres for quite some time. It has been extremely flattering to see my nation and characters continue even when I could not.

There a few book keeping things to take care of first. You may have notice that the year is not 2010 in my posts. I have always followed the J Andres Calendar (link in my signature). This allows for my characters to age and for things to happen at a quick and lively place.

Secondly, at some point in April my IG nation was deleted for inactivity. I started a new nation a few days ago so I would not violate the terms of service for the board. I have no interest in growing my nation. I have played this game and had fun with the IG alliance politics, but have no interest in becoming a part of it again. As such, my in game stats [b]will not[/b] reflect my RP nation stats. I realize that I am violating Botha's beloved rule, and other rules that have become much more official in my absence.
For being in violation of these rules, I will obey the following:
J Andres will never have a military force exceeding 1000 soldiers. We have modern tech and an economy comparable to our old nation. Our national resources are still Aluminum and Wheat. We have a total of 6 fighter jets, 2 bombers, and a few aircraft capable of transporting troops. We have a small navy consisting of one old submarine, and two destroyers. We can and could build nuclear weapons, but choose not to. [s]We have a small number of nuclear warheads from our previous reincarnations that we will never use in battle mostly because they are so old we forgot how to use them. [/s] We have remnants of old nuclear warheads, that are not operational, that we have no idea how to use.
[b]What does this mean in RP terms? I have a nation strength of zero. My forces can repel your army of cavemen but nearly anything else will over run us. We will roleplay a loss if confronted. Otherwise our existence is purely for flavor.[/b]

We are picking up a few months after where JEDCT left off. I have read the previous Anchor Times, and I'm sure I am not knowledgeable about every action that has taken place, but, I shall do my best to maintain continuity. I have noticed that the year count got slightly off track. We are following the original calendar system established in my signature.

Her brother, former President Richard Mercton, was unavailable for comments.

"[i]Sir, sorry to interrupt you, but it seems that J Andres had just returned![/i]" The aide claimed. Norton immediately got up from his chair with a start.

"[i]No way! You've gotta to be kidding me![/i]" When the aide shook his head no, and gave the Prime Minister the telegram that contained J Andres's re-establishment, only one aspect went through Norton's mind as he lowered himself back on his chair.

[i]Oh, my God.[/i]

He couldn't believe it. Not long after J Andres had collapsed, it had returned. Norton began to chuckle, one that steadily began to get harder until he was all but snorting with laughter. J Andres was indeed the phoenix of North America; no matter what, it was bound to return, one way or another.

Wrinkling his brows in confusion, the aide was not sure what he could say to a Prime Minister that was shaking with laughter. "[i]Um, sir...?[/i]"

Composing himself, Norton nodded and cleared his throat. "[i]S-send a dispatch to Mr. Amorim. He must be aware of it...tell him to send a telegram to J Andres stating that the Kingdom of Ursalia recognizes J Andres.[/i]"

"[i]Yes, sir.[/i]" With that, the aide was off.

Still chuckling, Norton shook his head once again. "[i]J Andres, you're quite something, arent you?[/i]"
