Shining City on a Hill

There are no such things as limits to growth, because there are no limits to the human capacity for intelligence, imagination, and wonder.

We in the GOP have often thought of our alliance as a shining city on a hill, but I don't know if we ever quite communicated what we saw when we referenced it. But in my mind, it's a tall, proud city, built on rocks stronger than oceans, wind-swept, God-blessed, and teeming with people of all kinds living in harmony and peace, a city with free ports that hum with commerce and creativity. And if there had to be city walls, the walls have doors, and the doors are open to anyone with the will and the heart to get here. That's how we've always seen the GOP, and see it still.

Just after our semi-millennial birthday, the Green Old Party feels blessed to announce that [URL=http://www.cybernations.net/stats_alliance_stats_custom.asp?Alliance=Green%20Old%20Party]we've passed the two-million cumulative national strength mark[/URL], showing that our city is growing brighter and stronger than any of us had ever imagined - thanks, in large part, because of the peaceful and stable environment we've been provided by our friends in the UJA.

Only about a half dozen of our original nations were from the CCC. The rest came from GR, who had left the CCC several months before. We've actually housed more GPA members than CCC. So, it's relatively inaccurate to refer to us as a "split off" of the CCC. 90% of our alliance is wholly unfamiliar with the Christian Coalition. When you say "split off" or "splinter" alliance I think of a mass exodus - OG style. That's not what happened with us. Our successes, our FA relationships, and everything we've accomplished was achieved entirely independent of any relationship with the CCC.

Just saying...

A split off doesn't have to be a mass-exodus or anything. You can have 5 members leaving to form a new alliance and call it a split off. Anyways, I can see about 4-5 in your current Govt that are ex-CCC, and I know of others that have since retired.

But, why try to run from your roots? CCC is also an awesome group - you should be proud of once being a part of them. :)

Because the CCC is not the source of our roots, and the GOP was never a part of the CCC. If we're a "split-off" of anything, it would be the UJA... We carried none of the CCC's policies or practices over, and the fact that several of our members (who have been playing the game for years) were - at one point in time - in the CCC, does not make us a split-off alliance. As I said, we've had several more ex-GPA nations join our ranks than CCC. That certainly doesn't make us a GPA split-off, though we're a lot closer to the GPA in culture and policy than the CCC.

I was in the CCC for a few months before I left. I was in VE for the same mount of time. I was in the GPA for over a year. I've been GOP for a year and a half.

Yes, a few of my closer CCC friends came with me to start the GOP. Some people from other alliances (who had, I guess, been in the CCC months prior) also ended up joining our ranks. We are not a split off or a splinter alliance of the CCC. We have some ex-CCC nations in our ranks. We have dozens of nations that were in other alliances at other points in time. That's about the extent of it.

Born and bred in a petri dish in a Green sphere lab. GPA friends helped me with the writing of our legislation and the UJA, namely VE, gave us protection and guidance. We're forever indebted to those of you who've helped make us what we are!
